"Huh?" Charles froze and slowly turned around, staring at Jeremy, not believing what the latter had just said.

"How dare you demand a new suit?" Charles exploded once again, veins bulging out of his neck.

"You ungrateful brat. We fed and clothed you for years, and yet you're still making this outrageous demand," Alice pointed at Jeremy, her eyes holding disgust.

"You fed me?" Jeremy chuckled, clicking his tongue while shaking his head.

"So eating leftovers from your meals is now called feeding, right?" He asked, raising a brow.

"As for clothing, you've always given me your son's used items; I never got anything, so how is that clothing?"

"You..."

"That's enough," Charles interrupted, his face burning up in embarrassment.

He knew he couldn't allow Jeremy to continue talking; else he was going to spill out all they had done over the years.

"Jeremy, get into the car, take Kelvin's old suit and change into it; don't be too greedy," Charles ordered, his voice firm, leaving no room for any argument.

"Like I said, I'm not leaving if you don't buy me a new suit," Jeremy responded, spreading out his arms.

"And if you don't mind, then I'll go in these clothes of mine," he added, looking down at his own clothes.

"After all, they don't seem to be all bad."

Charles's expression changed hearing this. What in hell is wrong with this brat?

Why wouldn't he listen to him today of all days? In the past, once he spoke so firmly, the latter was bound to listen; so why was today different?

"Brother, please listen to Father; we are running late, and besides, that suit, I have only worn it once, so it's still new," Kelvin quickly spoke, trying to persuade Jeremy.

Jeremy took a glance at Kelvin and chuckled.

"I won't be going back on my word; besides, if you all don't have the money to buy me a new suit, then let me go like this. As for thinking maybe I'll wear your suit, that's out of it."

"Brother, don't do this; listen to Father," Kelvin spoke almost immediately.

"Throwing a tantrum like this won't make them like you; it'll only make them despise you more."

"Yes, don't ever think I'll like you even one bit," Leen scoffed, rolling her eyes.

"A bastard like you deserves no place in our home; don't think we'll give in just because you're stubborn," Alice also added, the disgust evident in her voice.

"If I'm a bastard, then what does that make your husband?" Jeremy spoke slowly, sounding rather amused.

"You..." Alice's expression changed once again, pointing at Jeremy.

"Stop arguing," Charles barked, feeling as though he had aged a lot more.

"Fine, we'll get you a new set of suits," he said while heading to the car.

"Can you get in now?"

"Sure," Jeremy agreed readily and walked towards the car.

"Father..."

"It's enough; we are running late," Charles interrupted Leen, who was about to say something.

The family got into the car and drove away almost immediately.

Minutes later, the car pulled up before a magnificent Villa. Many other luxury cars could be seen all around.

Guests came in and out, a gentle smile plastered on their faces.

After all, this was the Edwin family residence. The Edwin family was a second-tier family in the city.

And today was the marriage between the Edwin family and the Raven family.

The Raven family was also a second-tier family, no weaker than the Edwin family.

This marriage alliance would allow them to combine resources and finally become a first-tier family.

Alighting from the car, Jeremy looked around, his gaze narrowed slightly as he took in his surroundings.

"Stop looking around and let's go in," Charles's sharp voice pulled him back to his senses as they led the way into the Villa.

Walking into the enormous gates, every eye fell onto them, and the moment the guests saw them, they all stood up, greeting them with a smile.

"And who's this?" One of the guests finally asked, pointing at Jeremy, who was now dressed in a quite fancy suit.

"He's my eldest son, Jeremy, and also the groom for today," Charles answered almost immediately, while still smiling.

The moment he said this, everyone's gaze turned onto Jeremy. Politely they offered a smile, but underneath that smile was either a pitiful look or a mocking gaze.

All of these caught Jeremy's eyes, but he couldn't care less about it.

If it were not for the fact that he needed a cover so he would be able to do what he came to do, he wouldn't have agreed to the marriage at all.

After all, the Ravens were pushing him onto her only because she was disfigured.

Soon enough, the ceremony ended and Jeremy was taken to his room where the bride was waiting.

Stepping into the room, he looked around, taking in the surroundings.

The room was a big one. At the far end was a large bed, big enough to accommodate five people.

By the side was a wardrobe, and then at the other end was a door. Then at the far end was a mirror and a dressing table.

The room was far more plain than Jeremy had thought it to be.

On the bed was a figure. Most probably the bride, Sarah. Though the figure had her back to him, he could tell she was wearing a veil.

"You don't need to force yourself to do anything," The figure on the bed suddenly broke the silence, forcing Jeremy to stop in his tracks.

At the same time, the moment he heard the voice, his pupils constricted as he felt he heard the voice somewhere, but couldn't understand exactly where.

"I'm sure you must have heard terrible things about me," Sarah continued, making Jeremy's frown deeper.

"Just like they must have told you, a side of my face is disfigured and you might not be able to stand the sight of it."

"Even I am sometimes disgusted by my own face."

Jeremy, on the other hand, had a hard time calming his emotions as he listened to Sarah.

The more she spoke, the more her voice seemed to ring a strange bell in his ears, and no matter how hard he tried, he just couldn't remember where he heard the voice.

"Why do you think I'll be disgusted by your face?" Jeremy countered, his voice gentle.

"Besides, I've never seen your face," he continued, his voice softening further.

"Cause no matter who saw my face, they've always been disgusted by it," Sarah answered, her voice calm even though there was a slight ripple in it.

"How about you turn and let me take a look before you decide?" Jerem

y suggested, at the same time also taking many steps forward.
