THE LOST TRUST

Jake drove in utmost silence, thinking seriously.

To him, it felt like Ava had something she was not telling him.

He wondered why Ava had suddenly accepted his offer on the second visit he made to her when she was in prison.

Now that she was out of jail, she was vigorously supporting Ethan and defending him at all costs.

Jake had a strange feeling that Ava was with him for a reason.

To him, Ava had only accepted his offer on his second visit without any hesitation because she might have had an encounter with Ethan.

On his account, Ava might have had a deal with Ethan even before she went to jail.

It could be that she had had a conversation with Ethan, and Ethan had decided to accept her back with the condition of delivering him to Ethan.

Maybe that was why Ethan had pleaded on her behalf for her to get only forty days in jail as her sentence.

Maybe that was the same reason she had agreed to come home with her.

Jake feared for his life.

A HURT MAN“Can I come with you to the court tomorrow?” Keziah asked him.Ethan raised an eyebrow. “What? Why would you want to come to the court with me tomorrow?” He asked.“Well, I don't have a lot of things to do tomorrow. I just had a few meetings tonight, and I will be free tomorrow, and I am almost always bored when I am in the house, so I just need company. I just want to come and witness how the case will go. That is all.” Keziah replied.Ethan hesitated, then said, “well, if you say so, you can pass by the courts and join me there. It is not going to be a long session, and even if it is, It is going to be just one session, which means after tomorrow, I don't have any court proceedings to attend again.” Ethan replied.“Thank you, Ethan. I will surely be there tomorrow.” Keziah replied. The two of them talked about a lot of issues as they sat in a car as a driver drove them to the Cley Islands. When they finally got to the Cley Islands, Ethan still had a lot of time to spend

HELD IN HIGH ESTEEM“...They only care about money, money, money, money, and since I am not money, they don't care about me. I don't remember the last time I spoke to my father in a civil manner and discussed issues that were bothering me. But it is all good. They are still my parents, and there is nothing I can do. But the only thing I can do to care about all of this is to move out of the house, and that is exactly what I have done. So, I am expecting a good outcome.” Keziah replied, her voice filled with a mix of sadness and determination.“Okay, if you say so, but I will definitely raise the issue with them when I get to the meeting with him. I will see his response, but I am sure I will be able to convince him to come to the court proceedings one of these days. Maybe the next one they schedule. I will try to convince him to come with us, at least to know how the case is going. It's not nice to think that your parents don't care about you, even in this hard time, when you have b

AN ABANDONED KID“I forgot to tell you; I have a meeting with your father today.” Ethan finally broke the silence in the car.“My father? What happened? Why do you have a meeting with him?” she asked, confused, as she sat up in the car.“Yes, he called me two nights ago, the very day you moved out of his house. He called to say he had something important to discuss with me, and it was about you. I told him I didn't have much time and could only make it today after the court session. So, as we speak, I have an appointment with him at two. It is already twelve now, so the moment I get to the Cley Islands, I have to go see him and honour the appointment. I am pretty sure it is about you moving out of the house.” Ethan replied.“I see. But have you told him you know where I am?” Keziah asked.“Of course not. I have not done that. But I think he believes I might know something about you leaving the house, and that is why he is inviting me to that meeting. He probably wants me to talk to yo

THE COURT IS PLEASEDThe place went quiet again as they all waited for Judge Grant to speak. He finally looked up and addressed the audience.“Alright, thank you, Mr David. Now it is time for the defendants to cross-examine the witness. Do you have anything to say or any questions to ask?” Judge Grant asked him.The defendant stood up and quickly said,“No, no, your honour. I... I... I do not have any questions to ask.” He stammered to the court.Mr David grinned in victory. He could tell that Lawyer Ryan was scared.“Alright then, that is not a big deal. Mr Ethan, personally, I have a few questions for you.Where did you learn the skills you have? You claim to have the training and certification in it. Where did you learn all the skills of alternative medicine and how to use them to treat people? I want to know where you got your training from.” The judge asked Ethan.“Your honour, I learnt it while I was in prison. I was friends with a man back then, and he was able to use this alte

ANOTHER PIECE OF EVIDENCE“Thank you, Mr Ethan. However, you didn't answer the parts on the state you found Keziah in before you started your treatment with her.” Mr David asked him, trying to pinpoint where he had skipped in his narration. Ethan quickly realised his mistake. “Oh, sorry. I forgot about that. The state I found her in was very bad. She was almost like a corpse. She lay on the bed flat and could not move by herself. The only part of her body she could move was her eyes. And she could only move them slowly when people entered her room or when people approached her. She could not move her hands, feet or any other part of the body apart from her eyes. She was being fed through a tube that was connected from her mouth through to her throat. That sent her food down to her stomach. She wore a diaper to be able to hold her faecal matter and urine until she was changed, as she could not control her bowel muscles. She was being taken care of by an assigned private nurse who

THE ILLEGAL DOCTORThe place remained totally quiet as Mr David sat down and the judge noted some things on his paper. Everybody waited for him to speak and to give their order on what next they were supposed to do. After about two minutes of waiting silently for the judge to speak, he finally looked up at the audience and spoke. He began by heaving a heavy sigh and picking up his gavel. “Ladies and gentlemen, this has been an intense one. A lot of the evidence has been submitted and this cause needs to critically look at it. However, we do not have a lot of time on our side so we will proceed with the remaining witnesses and see what you can achieve within the remaining time you have. May we have the second witness from the plaintiff, please?” Judge Grant said.Mr David stood up enthusiastically and spoke. “Your honour I would like to call into the witness box Mr Ethan Stone, also known as Doctor Ethan. The doctor who healed my client of her ailments when she was paralysed but b
