CHAPTER 7

CHAOS IN THE PARADISE OF THE RICH

Ethan!!” Both ladies exclaimed at the same time.

All The gentlemen around were surprised, and they looked at Ethan and then at the two ladies

Emily and Ava looked at each other.

“Do you know him?” Emily was the first to ask nervously

Ava nodded.

“This is my ex-husband I told you about. The Ex-Convict,” Ava said and shot Ethan a deadly stare.

All the gentlemen around except David and Chris were shocked to hear that Ethan was an ex-convict.

Emily was shocked. She bowed her head in shame but quickly regained her composure.

She just couldn't fathom the fact that she had made out with an ex-convict three days ago.

She looked at Ethan with a shameful face, and Ethan simply kept a straight face.

“But... how do you know him?” Ava asked Emily.

The question hit Emily off guard as she was still trying to process the fact that she had just slept with a stranger who was also an ex-convict and, even more disgusting, the ex-husband of one of her soon-to-be partners.

“Errm… I… I used to know him some years ago … That's… that's all,” Emily fumbled.

“Oh, great. It's nice you guys know Dr Ethan already…” David tried to speak, but he could not finish as Ava immediately interrupted him.

“Doctor?” I think you are mistaken here, Mr David. Ethan is not a doctor. He does not even qualify to be one,” Ava exclaimed, trying to belittle Ethan.

Ethan smiled and looked at Ava. He knew what was about to unfold. Ava was just about to be schooled and will soon find out who he was

“Woah, woah Wow, I think you are mistaken instead, Miss. He is a doctor. Emily, do you remember the doctor I told you about who healed me from my near-death ailment? This is him. Doctor Ethan. He was falsely accused and sent to jail, and he just came back,” David said, defending Ethan.

David was one of the shareholders of the WINSOR GROUP and was also a friend to Mr Winsor, Emily’s grandfather, and so he knew the Winsors on personal terms.

Ava was confused about what she had just heard from Mr David. For a second, she thought this was a different Ethan they were talking about, but Mr David was not a man known to joke.

And she was sure it was the same Ethan she was seeing here.

Emily's face brightened up a little.

“At least he is not a commoner. He is an important person,” she thought to herself.

“ Yes, this is Doctor Ethan. A very famous doctor renowned for his groundbreaking and unfathomable traditional healing methods. He cured me as well just a few months back,” Chris chipped in, in the defence of Ethan.

Ethan watched as the conversation unfolded, all about him.

At that same moment, a middle-aged man walked in on the conversation.

Ethan recognised this man at once. It was his former boss, the then-manager at his previous work before he went to jail. Surprisingly, he came straight to Ava and planted a kiss on her cheek.

Ava smiled and looked at him.

The man raised his head and saw Ethan standing right opposite him

“Ethan??!” He exclaimed in shock.

Ethan wore a surprised and angry look at the duo. The manner in which the two portrayed themselves, coupled with the shock on his former manager’s face, was an indication that something was going on between Ava and him.

It was then that Ethan began connecting the dots.

Obviously, while he was in jail, his manager was having a romantic relationship with his wife, and that was evidently the reason she stopped visiting him in prison.

Ethan at once knew the reason why Ava had called for a divorce the very day he came out of prison.

“What on earth are you doing here?” Ethan’s manager said with surprise in his voice.

Ethan did not reply to the question but went straight for Ava.

“Oh great. So this is exactly why you divorced me, huh? You were going out with my manager after I took the fall for you and ended up in jail.

He was the reason you stopped visiting me, huh? He is the same reason you divorced me, right? Great one, you cheat,” Ethan said with a straight face.

He was visibly angry but was trying to keep his composure.

“Took the fall?” David exclaimed as the phrase passed through her ears.

“What is going on here?” Emily said in surprise as she looked at Ava.

She was trying to see if Ava would say a different thing.

“Hey, hey. You all should hold on. This is a private issue, I guess. It shouldn't be discussed here.” Chris said, trying to ease the tension.

“Well. I think so. We came here for a ceremony. I guess you all can solve your differences later.” One of the gentlemen whom David had introduced to Ethan said.

He was also one of the major stakeholders of the company. His name was Ruben.

The atmosphere was tense, and they were trying to calm it.

Ethan took a deep breath and nodded.

“Of course, we will settle that later,” Ethan said as he flashed his former manager a deadly stare.

Jake, Ethan’s former manager, also wore a very serious face in an attempt to cover up his embarrassment.

“Hey, Emily, why don't you introduce us to who your new partners are?” They are the reason why we are here. Let's get the party started,” Ruben said in an attempt to divert the course.

All the other men with him agreed and all began saying “Yes” one after the other in agreement with what Mr Ruben said.

“Well, yes. This is Ava; she was the one I was signing the agreement with for the partnership.

She is the CEO for Avish Beauty Inc., but on second thought. I guess we will put this on hold for now. We need to get some things sorted out behind the scenes.” Emily said with uncertainty.

“What?!” Ava exclaimed in shock.
