C332: One-Sided Accusations
To their surprise, Veyron answered without hesitation. "It's mine. You stole it."Victor was momentarily caught off guard. For a second, he couldn't find the words to respond. Then his face twisted with rage."Nonsense!" He pointed accusingly at Veyron. "You're nothing but a useless ex-convict. How could someone like you possibly possess the token of Thunderpeak's Captain?"Victor quickly turned toward Ryan, as though afraid the latter might actually believe Veyron's accusation. "Mr. Ryan, don't listen to his nonsense. His mouth is filthy, and all he knows how to produce are lies!""Exactly!" Catherine immediately nodded in agreement. "The token belongs to us."Veyron let out a quiet chuckle and shook his head. What a pair of fools. They were the ones who had tried to frame him first, yet now they were desperately trying to maintain their lie.Ryan Vescari remained silent for a moment. His gaze swept over Veyron from head to toe. Then he glanced at Victor and Catherine. The contrast w
C331: Seek Justice On Your Behalf
"Brother Ryan, you finally came!" Zavian West hurried forward, his swollen and bruised face filled with grievance. "You must help us seek justice.""Mr. Zavian." Ryan Vescari glanced at him curiously before sweeping his gaze across the conference room. "Which person has the token?""It's Mr. Blackwell." Zavian immediately pointed toward Victor. "Mr. Blackwell, please show Brother Ryan the token.""Yes." Victor nodded quickly. He reached into his pocket and pulled out the small, hand-sized jade. Then he stepped forward and respectfully handed it to Ryan.Ryan accepted the jade. At first, his expression was calm. He turned the token over in his hand and carefully examined its surface, paying particular attention to the familiar seal engraved into it. A few seconds later, his expression changed drastically."This... This..." His eyes widened. He stared at the jade in disbelief before looking up at Victor. His voice was filled with obvious shock "This belongs to the Captain!"He stepped c
C330: Even If It's A Dragon
Because Victor clearly believed the jade token belonged to Iris, he assumed Veyron had no idea what Thunderpeak was or just how terrifying its reputation could be.After all, what could a useless ex-convict possibly be doing with such an important token? And if Iris had known the true value of the jade, why would she have handled it so carelessly that it ended up near the shoe cabinet?Victor had convinced himself that everything made sense. Meanwhile, Iris was far from calm."Veyron..." She tugged lightly at his sleeve, her beautiful face filled with worry. "What do we do now? I've heard of the legendary Thunderpeak before."She lowered her voice and continued, "Their combat and martial arts skills are terrifying. They're often deployed by the Meridian army for extremely important missions, and I've heard they've never failed a mission."The more she thought about it, the more worried she became. But there was also something else that bothered her.Why had she never heard of the Blac
C329: You're Nothing
"Huh..." Victor stared at Zavian, momentarily forgetting the pain coursing through his body. His face stiffened with embarrassment as he lowered his voice. "Call... Call who?"As he spoke, he exchanged a nervous glance with Catherine, who had just managed to get back on her feet. The jade token had been stolen from Iris. He didn't know who controlled Thunderpeak, nor did he know a single soldier stationed there. How was he supposed to make a call?"Mr. Blackwell, with so many people in Thunderpeak, you don't know who to call?" Zavian asked, visibly surprised.Victor and Catherine exchanged another frightened glance. Oh no. What were they going to do now?But Zavian didn't seem to notice their uneasiness. He simply assumed Victor didn't know which particular person to contact and immediately offered his help."If you don't know who to call, then let me help you...""Yes... Yes." Victor immediately composed himself and nodded. His heart leaped with relief. "Go ahead and make the call."
C328: Scum Father-in-law
A chill ran down Victor's spine, and he couldn't help but stutter warily. "W-what do you mean by that?""I said..." Veyron's voice dropped, carrying a low and dangerous edge that instantly made the atmosphere in the conference room tense. "Whoever dares to bully my wife will only have themselves to blame."BAM!He released his grip and threw Zavian aside as casually as though he were tossing away a piece of garbage.Zavian's body slammed into the large conference table before he crashed heavily onto the floor."Ugh!" His face twisted in pain.Veyron calmly cracked his knuckles and turned toward Victor and Catherine. The moment they saw him approaching, both of them instinctively retreated. Their previous arrogance had disappeared completely."Are you going to hit us?!" Victor shouted nervously. "Don't forget that we're still Iris' relatives!"Veyron didn't stop. His footsteps remained slow and steady as he approached them, his dark icy-green gaze fixed on the terrified couple."Veyron!
