Chapter 5
“What!" “It came true!" “Unbelievable! "I can't believe that card holds such an amount of money!” Fear instantly gripped some of the onlookers, and they dropped to their knees, fearing that Henry was some kind of hidden heir who could get them severely punished for their actions. "Please, we were wrong to doubt you!” They begged. "Don't harm us, please!” Meanwhile, Carlson was dazed. How was that even possible? Henry was a nobody, and he knew it. Too well. How could he possibly have such an amount of money with him? He narrowed his eyes, staring at Henry in utter disbelief. This can't be the Henry he knew! It must be a different person! “Why are you still standing there? Or have you forgotten our bet all of a sudden?" Henry's voice snapped Carlson out of his thoughts. Jerked back to reality, Carlson shook his head vigorously, doubting what his eyes had just witnessed. "This can't be true! Where did you steal that card from? I know you aren't capable of affording to pay that huge amount of money!” Henry's lips parted with a smile. “From telling everyone that I live off my in-laws to this? Are you this shameless?” Carlson's face tightened. "Stop saying rubbish and tell us where you stole the card from, or I'll call the police on you!" He threatened. It was at this moment that a man with a terrifying physique strode forward and, without any warning, slapped Carlson across the face. "How dare you try to defy a bet?" He growled in anger, his eyes red with anger. Carlson's head snapped to the side. He felt his cheek burning, and he clenched the spot. The man continued furiously. "You defamed the young man in front of everyone, entered a bet with him, and now, you're threatening to call the police on him? What for? Because he's won and you lose?” Carlson shook his head, trying to argue. "You don't know this young man better than I do! He's a penniless loser! I bet you he stole that—" “Just shut your gutter up and lick his shoes now!" The man cut Carlson off with a grim expression, arms crossed over his chest. Carlson looked up at him with a surprised face. “Huh?" He muttered. The man didn't respond. His silence even felt more dangerous and deadly than when he would have answered. Carlson's heart thumped, and fear instantly gripped him. Then, he turned to face Henry, who stood there with an unreadable expression. Carlson's face twisted with disgust and his chest tightened. Reluctantly but sluggishly, he started to lower himself, going to Henry's shoes level. Finally, he brought out his tongue and licked Henry's shoes and shot up immediately, face covered with shame and embarrassment. He glared at Henry, his blood boiling like water on the stove. A wide smirk parted Henry's lips. He didn't respond to him. Simply turning to one of the onlookers and had the video recording transferred to his own phone before returning to face Carlson. He leaned in and whispered something into Carlson's ear. “I have the full video now. You dare not mention what has happened here just now to my family members or those related to us, or else I'll have your video published on all social media handles, and you know what that means.” Without many words, Henry smirked maliciously at Carlson before grabbing his shopping bags and walking away. As he exited, the man who had slapped Carlson, making him comply with the bet, sighed exasperatedly and subsequently turned and left. Slowly, the crowd with murmuring started to disperse, and soon, everywhere was cleared after the last person roughly handed Carlson back his phone and stormed out. Carlson was now left alone, his face lowered with a mixture of shame and disgrace. He had never been humiliated like this in his entire life. And even if he must be humiliated, why must it be from this broke ass?! His fists tightened at his sides, and he felt his blood burning with trembling fury. Suddenly, the thought of how Henry was able to cover such expenses came running back into his head. How was that even possible? “Mario told me he was a good-for-nothing son-in-law; how then was he able to purchase so many items and even pay for them?" Just as he was pondering, something clicked. He forgot to confirm whose name was on the card. His eyes turned red, and he gritted his teeth. “That bastard! How dare he use his wife's card to humiliate me in front of everyone! I'll deal with him! Loser!" Carlson believed Henry had used Margaret's card to disgrace him in front of everyone. Moreover, he didn't remember to check whose card it was. Therefore, he vowed to take his own revenge on Henry. **** In the meantime, the announcement of the emergence of the new chairman of Eminence Group spread like wildfire in the whole city. It got people talking so badly. A young man with the title: Mr. Potte Jnr., in his mid-twenties, becoming the new chairman of a multi-billion-dollar company after the death of Mr. Potter Jones? This has never been recorded anywhere in history! Some people were commenting in admiration, saying the young man must really be intelligent, vibrant, and trustworthy to have earned the position. While some envied. What can a twenty-four-year-old man do? Shouldn't he be in the University learning? This eventually led to the end of Eminence Group! The envious ones were saying. As Henry finally arrived home, he heard the whole family talking about this same subject. “Did you hear that? A young man taking over the leadership of the Eminence Group!" Dorcas exclaimed, astonished. “Heard it, mum, and I couldn't believe my ears!" Hunter, the eldest son of the family, replied. “He must really be capable of earning that!” "Extremely capable!” Dorcas agreed. Henry stepped into the living room, and the sound of his footsteps caused the conversation to halt. Turning and seeing that it was Henry, Dorcas's expression changed on the spot. She shot him a glare. "You bastard, where have you been?” Henry opened his mouth to respond, but he had barely done so when Hunter interjected sharply. “Always roaming around, doing nothing. You should be ashamed of yourself!" He cursed disdainfully. “Your mates are becoming Chairman of a multi-billion dollar company in their twenties. But you? You're of no use!" Henry didn't get offended. He simply smiled. Then, he said, “What if I'm the new elected chairman they're referring to?"Latest Chapter
Chapter 20: Margaret Cussed Henry
Chapter 20As Margaret collected the velvet box, she opened it to reveal a delicate crystal necklace. The necklace was no doubt a breathtaking masterpiece, crafted from pure platinum and adorned with a flawless, rare blue diamond at its center. Smaller diamonds were delicately arranged around it, catching the light with every movement. Its design was elegant yet unmistakably luxurious.Margaret gasped the moment she brought it out of the box, staring at it. Dorcas couldn't control herself either. She quickly took the necklace from Margaret, carefully scrutinizing it with wide eyes. Jonathan couldn't stop grinning in satisfaction as he sat there observing the expressions on both Margaret's and Dorcas's faces. He was content to see their shocked expressions.“This is... genuine!” Her mouth gaped in astonishment. “Of course, it is," Jonathan nodded proudly.Looking up, Dorcas stared at Jonathan. "How much did you buy it for?”"Twenty thousand dollars,” Jonathan casually replied as th

But then, he held himself, managing to stay steady while clutching the spot where Henry had slapped him. “How dare you think I would trade my wife for your cheap money?" Henry barked at him. Dorcas, who had been seated, watching the exchange between the two men before Henry finally slapped Jonathan, suddenly rose to her feet. Her eyes flushed with anger as she confronted Henry. “How dare you lay your filthy hand on Jonathan? Were you stupid or blind to recognize that Jonathan was only trying to help your miserable life?" Henry wasn't surprised when he looked at Dorcas. In fact, this is exactly what she had always wanted: for him to be out of the granddaughter's life for good. “Could you listen to yourself?" Henry asked, frowning. “I should trade Margaret for just two million dollars?" Dorcas misinterpreted Henry's words. Thus, she
Chapter 18: Henry Slaps Jonathan
Chapter 18Jonathan Taylor was one of those men who had been chasing after Margaret endlessly. Although some of the men stopped chasing Margaret at some point after she got married to Henry, Jonathan didn't cease. To Jonathan, Henry didn't deserve a beauty goddess like Margaret, and since he was from a rich family, he believed he could still win Margaret over with his money. The moment Dorcas noticed someone walking into the room, she lifted her eyes, and immediately she saw Jonathan Taylor; her face lit up with a mixture of surprise and excitement.“Jonathan Taylor!” She quickly dropped the newspaper she was reading onto the table and rushed forward to Jonathan. “It's you!" Dorcas said, giving Jonathan a brief hug before gently pulling back. “How are you doing? You didn't tell us you were coming around." Jonathan tilted, smiling back at her. “Good morning, Grandma. I'm sorry I was supposed to let you all know I was coming.”"There's no need to apologize." She waved it off with h

What's wrong?” He hurriedly asked, his voice sharp with concern and panic.Margaret slowly pulled away from his hug. “I'm fine," she replied. “Guess it was a cockroach that walked on me." Hearing that, the expression on Henry's face suddenly changed, and he burst into a short laugh.Margaret looked at him and frowned. “What's funny? Why are you laughing?” Henry halted. "Because of…" He couldn't help but start to laugh again, recalling Margaret's response, “A common cockroach, and you screamed the way you did? Thought you were some kind of brave lady?” He teased.Margaret glared at him. “Just shut your mouth! Chapter 16Right after Henry's words dropped, Margaret couldn't help but instantly turn to him, staring. For a moment, his confident words made her heart leap, the kind that happens to you whenever someone promises to do something that has been seeming impossible for you. However, Margaret couldn't tell if her heart had actually jumped for excitement or from something else.Suddenly, a deep frown appeared on her face. “What's even wrong with you lately, Henry?" She asked, clearly frustrated already. From the tone of her voice, Henry could easily understand that Margaret was only underrating him. "But I'm serious about it,” Henry said confidently, his expression unreadable. "I can help you talk to the new—" “Stop it already," Margaret cut him off, holding her hand up at him. She glared at him. “As you can see, I'm just returning from work, and I need some rest, so please stop all this nonsense because I'm clearly not in the mood for it." Saying that and without waiting for a respon

The latter, clueless about what had transpired behind her back, stepped into the room, and then Henry followed. Margaret set her bag on the table near the bed before sitting on the bed, her mind still occupied. A few seconds passed before she looked up at Henry. “Do you know who that young man was?" She inquired.Henry shook his head. No, I don't know him." Margaret didn't say a word after Henry's response.Henry stared at her, then reluctantly asked. “Why? Is it because of what just happened? I don't think you should bother yourself thinking about it. Perhaps that was the universe rewarding your good heart.”Margaret frowned slightly, and for a moment, she didn't utter a word. But after some time, she then heaved, not saying anything afterward. Henry observed her expression. “You should be excited about it instead." Then he added, “By the way, how was work today?
