Her gaze lingered, on his body—his abs. She crouched beside him. The night had gone dark, and the moon was swallowed by the dark fury clouds.
His shirt was torn open, revealing a hard, sculpted chest marked with cuts and bruises. Her fingers traced the edge of a deep wound on his ribs. Immediately, the wound shrink. His hard skin began to draw together, and the deep cut slowly began to heal. Her breath caught. Jaw dropped, as she stared at the shocking event unveiling before her very eyes. “Impossible…” she murmured to herself. She dipped a cloth into the water and gently wiped the blood from his face. His jaw was sharp and arrogant even in his unconscious state. His skin was far too calm for a man who had been beaten to the point of death. She chuckled nervously. “You’re… handsome,” she whispered, almost embarrassed by herself. She leaned closer, pressing her ear to his chest. His heart was beating. Slow, steady, powerful. Definitely alive. Her eyes narrowed, the bruises were fading. Healing. Right before her eyes, and there was no logical explanation for this. “Oh you poor thing. Are you even human?” She pressed his nose to stop his breathing, but there was no reaction. “You're not even alive are you?” She mumbled. “Please give me a sign that you're alive. I need to know.” No response. Her chest tightened, and her face lowered in disappointment. She checked her time past 10pm already. Would it be a good idea to take this poor boy to a hospital? How do I explain to the doctor that his wounds are healing by itself? She sighed deeply Immediately he coughed, and water poured out of his mouth. Panic surged and she rushed to his side but he didn't wake. “You still have so much water in your system huh?.” She quickly tilted his head but hesitated as she got closer. She swallowed nervously. “I—this is the only way.” She pinched his nose gently and lowered her mouth to his, trying to draw the water out. But that moment, his eyes snapped open. Their eyes locked, and silence… He studied her face, wondering what was going on. That was when he realized that he couldn't breathe because she was still holding his nose. He grabbed her wrist with crushing strength and flared up from the ground. She tried to retreat, but his other hand wrapped around the back of her neck, freezing her in place. Their faces were inches apart, her body half-sprawled over his. She gasped. His eyes were dark, filled with secrets of the world. His gaze pierced into her soul, and her lips began to tremble. In that instant, Demian activated his immortality. All the pain vanished. Power surged. She felt it before she saw it—the sudden tension beneath her palms. The sound of his bones cracking and shifting back to its form. His muscles knit together like living steel, and she screamed. “AHHHH!” Demian clamped his hand over her mouth, eyes blazing with cold authority. “Silence!” he commanded. His voice wasn’t loud, but it was absolute. “You’ve seen nothing. You’ve heard nothing. Do you understand?” Tears streamed down her face as she nodded frantically, terror shaking her from head to toe. Slowly, he released her. She scrambled backward, falling onto the damp ground. Her arms wrapped around herself as if to hold her sanity together. Demian stretched his shoulder with clenched fists. She looked up at him, voice trembling. “W-what are you?” He scoffed, dusting imaginary dirt from his shoulders, then glanced back at her with a faint, cruel smile. “I am the Overlord.” The word landed like thunder. Her lips parted, but not a sound came out. Demian paused, eyes lingering on her—not with lust, but with calculation. “You saved my body,” he said slowly. “That earns you something.” He took a step closer and she flinched. “What is your name?” he asked. “R-Rebecca,” she whispered. He nodded once. “Rebecca.” The way he said it made it sound permanent. “One day, I will grant you any wish you desire.” Her breath hitched. “Any… wish?” “Yes.” His gaze softened. “But not today.” He stood up and walked a few steps staring into the dark clouds. She watched his back, confused as to what he meant. “Today, I have debts to collect. And revenge to take. But not to worry, Rebecca, our path shall cross again.” He turned away, taking only a few steps before his form blurred and then vanished entirely, leaving nothing but rippling air behind. Rebecca screamed again, shaking violently. She picked up her things and without a second glance, she bolted out of the dark woods. Miles away, Demian stood atop a high-rise balcony overlooking Sunville. The city was glowing beneath him. His phone rang once before being answered immediately. “Lord Dragon,” the Senate leader said nervously. “I—I wasn’t sure you would call personally.” “You will announce my arrival,” Demian said coldly. “Live television. Tonight. The Immortal Overlord has returned. But you will not reveal my identity.” “Yes. Of course. Immediately.” “And one more thing,” Demian added. “Tomorrow is Hades Buckley's engagement party.” There was a pause. “Yes… to Marianne Roy, the famous actress.” “You will inform Hades,” Demian said, lips curling. “That the Overlord will honor him with his presence.” The man laughed nervously. “He will be… overwhelmed.” Demian ended the call. Across the city, Hades received the news and nearly dropped his glass. He had made several calls, boasting about the honour he was about to receive that would raise him to the top. “The Overlord?” he repeated, eyes shining. “At my engagement?” He laughed loudly, pride swelling. “I knew it. This is it. This is my rise. I've been working for this shit. Now the time has come. Woohoo!” But, he had no idea he was already kneeling. And yes, tomorrow Demian will return. But not as the man they thought they killed, rather as the nightmare they have created. And the dark hours have just begun.Latest Chapter
Chapter 20: A Promise To Keep
The entire Rastro family rose as the Overlord commanded. Fear their eyes lowered. Except Rebecca Rastro. Coming from the back, her gaze was sharp and tender. A warm smile etched at the corner of her lips. But the Overlord had his attention fixed on Quentin Rastro.“It would seem that you picked the right vial, Mr Quentin.” A sarcastic tone.Quentin Rastro raised his head gently, not sure whether to look at the Overlord or not.“You're merciful, my lord. Even though I had offended you. You forgive…”Demian's voice cut quickly before the words ran cold; “I did no such thing.”The room went quiet.Demain took a slow step forward, his eyes fixated on Quentin.“I don't believe in unwarranted forgiveness.”“So when the time is right, you'll face your punishment just as Hades is currently facing his.”Quentin froze. His knees almost gave out.Demian stepped forward, closing the gap between them. His steps were slow and deliberate.“Oh… you didn't know?”Quentin didn't answer. His jaw tig
Chapter 19: Second Life
The medical instruments told lies that science couldn't explain.Dr. Okonkwo pressed the stethoscope against Quentin Rastro's chest for the third time. His dark face creased with confusion. "This is impossible.""What is?" Mrs Theresa gripped her husband's hand. She was afraid. Too afraid to believe what she was seeing."His heart." The doctor pulled back, staring at Quentin, like he had risen from the dead.In a way, he had. "Last week it was failing. Barely pumping. Now it's..." He checked the monitor again. "It's just perfect. Better than perfect. It's functioning like a man half his age."The second doctor, a younger woman named Chen, was reviewing blood work on her tablet. "The cancer markers are gone. Completely gone. Not reduced. Not in remission. It's as if they never existed."She looked up, and her gaze met with Dr Okonkwo’s."Run the tests again," Dr. Okonkwo ordered. She frowned.“But sir…”"I've run them four times, sir.""Then run them for the fifth."Dr Chen quickly t
Chapter 18: The Impossible Choice
The three vials sat on the hospital table like an executioner's riddle.Red. Blue. Yellow. One would cure. Two would kill. Well, death of a different kind. One vial would bring Quentin Rastro back to his feet. One vial would kill him slow and painfully. He would bleed from his eyes, nose, and mouth. His skin would turn white. All blood in him will dry up. Eventually, he would die.The last vial would kill him immediately, but there'll be no pain. He would sleep, and it'll pass like nothing ever existed.Rebecca stood in the doorway of her father's private hospital room, frozen at the sight of them. The rest of her family was already there. All four of her siblings gathered around the bed, voices rising in panic and confusion."When did he come?" Marcus, the second oldest, demanded. He gripped the nurse's arm. "When was the Overlord here?""An hour ago, sir." The nurse's voice trembled. "H…he walked in, spoke to your father, left those, and walked out.”"What did he say to Dad?" Tha
Chapter 17: Looming Fall Of Rastro Empire
The Rastro mansion sprawled across twenty acres of neglected grounds.A Mediterranean stylish building with thirty rooms, and three wings connected by marble corridors that echoed emptiness. Inside, the air was stale, a looming disaster that had made the home of the wealthy billionaire look like a graveyard. In the east wing master bedroom, Quentin Rastro lay, dying slowly. His wet, rattling breaths extended the agony of those waiting for an inheritance. His children had carved out territories: some camped in the library with estate documents and lawyers' cards. Some drank through the wine cellar in the billiard room. Some make frantic calls to creditors from the conservatory. They pass each other without speaking, each calculating their share, and terrified the others will claim more.Senator Dickson walked into the large building. The whole place was in chaos. The family had kept the information from the media for days, but the billionaire’s health wasn't getting any better.Se

Antonia stepped into the penthouse with Demian behind her. He studied her, the way she darted her eyes around. The way her hands fidgeted with the hem of her dress. The penthouse was unlike anything she had seen. Luxury dripping with mystery. Her mind was unsettled. She had become nervous, as she pictured Marianne’s presence here before her.His hands wrapped around her waist from behind, and she flinched at the warmth of his strong hands. He kissed her collarbone. “You're the second woman to see my penthouse. Marianne has never been here. And she never will be.” Something settled in her chest. An assurance. The calmness that followed his words.“Well, who is the first?” She turned to look at his eyes. His hands wrapped around her waist gently, and she pressed her body into him. “Diana Washington, your prime minister.” Antonia was mute. Her eyes never left for a second. He took a few steps to the bar and poured two glasses of champagne. She followed behind slowly.“Tell me about

The world will call your name in whispers and tremble in your presence.”In an instant, something cracked open in her chest. Her smile was cute. Small but beautiful. Her sparkling white teeth glittered in the blue chandelier light.“Then I accept.” She took his hand, and Marianne staggered back. Hot tears bloomed in her eyes.Demian raised her hand and turned around. “Rise and take your seat everybody.” Soft noise erupted as the entire set rose from the floor. They all avoided eye contact with the Overlord."Antonia is under my protection.
