Marcus was walking through the hallways of his mansion early in the morning, on his way to his home office when he heard a muffled groan and then a loud thud, like something hitting the carpeted ground. On hearing the sounds, he ran quickly to the room, not bothering to inspect what was happening but shoved the door open and ran into the room. He did not expect to see what he was witnessing at the time.
Lori stood over a clearly broken and destroyed machine, huffing and puffing like she had just ran a marathon. She turned to Marcus, a barbaric and dangerous look on her face. Marcus gave her a confused look, wondering why she was standing over a piece of equipment with bloodlust.
"What are you doing?" Marcus asked with a brow raised at her.
Lori stood up straight and le

Chapter One Hundred and Forty: THE EVENT OF THE SEASON
Marcus had finally concluded his planning for the New Year event mostly without Rachel’s help due to her work, much to his dismay. He had also gotten the money he planned to give to Mark but for some reason he chose to hold off on it until after the event, therefore placing the transaction in a rut. Now that he had removed his mind from that, all that remained was the decoration, preparation of food and then the arrival of the guests. He wiped the sweat off his brow as he stood in the scorching heat in just a tank top and sweatpants with a tablet in his hands and a crease on his lip. “No, move it a bit to the left. To the left Andre.” Marcus shouted out as he tried to give directions to the event decorators that were supposed to be making the front of the mansion beautiful but were doing the opposite of their jobs. Or maybe it was just the way Marcus saw it. He just wanted it to be perfect. Marcus sighed as Andre moved the flower arch more to the left than was intended, throwing the
Chapter One Hundred and Thirty-Nine: COMING TO AN AGREEMENT
It had been a hectic day with new and confounding information bombarding Marcus by the hour. He had gotten home and was now entering the building to speak to a nemesis he never thought he would have. Marcus checked his watch. 5:09pm already. About three hours before the 8:00pm deadline he had given Mark to make his choice. As Marcus walked up to see Mark he composed himself. Nothing he had heard today would blind or deter him from making the decision he thought was best for protecting his family. He reached the room, his hand hovering over the handle before he took a deep breath and walked into the room.Whoever it was that was inhabiting the body at this point, held the same book Mark had thrown across the room earlier and was reading it. His eyes grazed the book for a moment more before he closed it, set it on the bed and faced Marcus. “Mark.” The person said as Marcus closed the door behind him and took a seat. “Good. Have you made a choice yet? I assume you have since you've cal
Chapter One Hundred and Thirty-Eight: TYING UP LOOSE ENDS
Marcus sighed as Estelle walked out of his house and he saw her drive off after several moments of what he thought was probably crying but what he hoped was self reflection on what she did wrong and how she would change and be a good wife to her husband. Little did he know his rejection would lead to her downhill spiral. He went upstairs to his bedroom eager to put what had happened in his rear view and focus on what mattered. Mark accepting his proposal and this annoying and yet much needed New Years ball that he was assigned to throw again due to the scandal that followed the last event he spearheaded. The public had not yet recovered from that one with the police still suspecting him and simultaneously looking for the hooded figure who unbeknownst to them, was being held captive in one of the guest rooms of his home. The press also carried the news far and wide and unsurprisingly had found out why he was arrested in the first place. The matter would have escalated if Finch had a f
Chapter One Hundred and Thirty-Seven: CONFESSION
“Mrs. Moore. Once again, welcome to my home.” Marcus said, trying to be as formal as he could possibly be without arousing any suspicion from Rachel. It’s not as if he cheated on her or they had a romantic relationship per se but he just knew that he didn’t want Rachel finding out about the incident especially if it came from Estelle. Estelle chuckled but her smile faltered a bit. She waved her hand in a playful manner. “How many times do I have to tell you to call me by my name Marcus?” Marcus shrugged and gave her a smile. “Force of habit Estelle. Don’t mind me.” Rachel and Estelle shared a silent glance before they belted out with laughter, holding their dresses at the seams. Rachel sniffled and poured the drink that Estelle had brought to the mansion into the cups that were placed on the small glass geometric coffee table, but she poured only two cups. Marcus chuckled but was completely lost. “What are you ladies laughing about?” He asked in a serene tone that only made the
Chapter One Hundred and Thirty-Six: THE UNWANTED GUEST
A day had gone by after the discussion with his family on what to do with Chris or Mark and the bewildering talk he had with Estelle concerning the welfare of her assistant. So far, Chris had been Chris for the most part with Mark not coming out at all and the diagnosis that he was having were all good. Mark’s ugly head hadn’t reared but it was still too soon to say that the drugs and recent psychiatric help were working wonders. Marcus finally sat up in his bed feeling like he could take on the whole world after the day of constant rest and in his mind, he could. He effortlessly got up from his bed and after a long but reviving hot shower and a change of clothes, he was ready to face his problems for the day or the previous day at least. Marcus left his room and went straight to see Chris. He needed to check on Chris’ behavioral records to make sure that everything was still on track before Chris would be able to live a somewhat normal life after all this was taken care of. He got

“We have to turn him over to the authorities. There isn’t another viable option.” “You really can’t condone that. He’s sick. He has to be in a psychiatric ward for his own good.” “If I may add, hearing what has been going on, it would be useless throwing him in there. He might be a danger to everyone else in the facility. What if his alter ego comes out and kills someone? What do we do next?” “So, what do you suggest we do? Leave him to wander the street and maybe come back to murder us all?” The questions flew around Marcus’ head as he tried to keep up with what the others were saying. Micah, Rachel and Grayson stood in the study where several meetings of importance were carried out in the past. They had left Chris in the room under lock, key and surveillance so that they could discuss what they would do with him. They had all given their opinions on what they thought was best but none of it was concrete and made little to no sense if they considered the future effect it would ha
