Even after Julian and her boyfriend had left, Emmanuel was still burning with anger. He paced the room, clenching his fists, muttering under his breath about how shameless some people could be. Marcus watched him quietly for a moment, then spoke in a calm voice.
“Let it go, Emmanuel.”
“How can I?” Emmanuel snapped. “She slapped you in your own room and laughed about it like it was nothing.”
Marcus shook his head slowly. “It is over.”
Emmanuel stopped pacing and stared at him. “You are too calm. This is not like you.”
Marcus did not answer. He simply turned and walked into the bathroom. He locked the door behind him and leaned against it, closing his eyes. The sound of running water soon filled the room as he began to bathe.
As the water poured over him, his thoughts drifted. Less than twenty four hours ago, he had been chased, humiliated, expelled, and treated like dirt. Now he was heading to the Galaxy Corporation, the most powerful corporation connected to ESU. Life truly had a way of turning without warning.
After he was done, Marcus dried himself, dressed simply, and slipped out of the room quietly. He did not tell Emmanuel he was leaving. He knew his roommate well. If Emmanuel found out where he was going, he would insist on following him, just like they always walked to class together. Marcus needed to do this alone.
The sun was already high when Marcus arrived at the Galaxy Corporation.
The moment he stood before the massive gate, he froze.
The place looked unreal.
Tall glass walls reflected the sky, polished floors gleamed even from a distance, and luxury cars moved in and out with smooth precision. Everything about the place screamed power, wealth, and authority. For a brief moment, Marcus felt as though he had stepped into another world.
He took a deep breath and walked in.
Inside the compound, the beauty became overwhelming. Well manicured gardens lined the walkways. Employees moved around confidently, dressed in sharp suits, holding tablets and documents. Marcus adjusted his steps and headed toward the main building.
He had barely taken a few steps toward the reception area when two security officers stepped in front of him.
“Hey,” one of them said sharply. “Where are you going?”
Marcus stopped. “I am here for business.”
The moment the word left his mouth, the two security men burst into laughter.
“Business?” one of them repeated, looking Marcus up and down. “What kind of business?”
“It is classified,” Marcus replied calmly. “I am here to see the manager of the Galaxy Corporation.”
That only made them laugh harder.
“The manager?” the second guard scoffed. “Do you know how many people come here every day asking to see the manager?”
The first guard shook his head. “People in suits worth more than your entire wardrobe cannot even see him.”
They exchanged amused looks.
“You should leave,” the first guard said dismissively. “We are expecting a very important person today. Do not spoil our work.”
Marcus opened his mouth to speak again, but before he could say anything, a sharp voice cut in from behind.
“What is going on here?”
They turned.
Frank Collins stood there.
Frank was well dressed, his suit perfectly tailored, his shoes polished to a mirror shine. His posture carried arrogance, the kind that came from power borrowed through influence rather than earned. As assistant manager of the Galaxy Corporation and a student at ESU, Frank enjoyed a life most students could only dream of.
He also happened to be Rejoice’s boyfriend.
Frank’s eyes landed on Marcus, and his expression darkened immediately.
“What is a made man doing here?” Frank asked coldly.
The security quickly explained. “Sir, he said he is here on business and wants to see the manager.”
Frank let out a harsh laugh. “Business?”
He stepped closer to Marcus, his eyes filled with disdain. “Do you think this is a place to beg or steal?”
Before Marcus could react, Frank raised his hand and slapped him across the face.
The sound echoed.
Marcus staggered slightly, shock flashing across his eyes.
“If you know what is good for you,” Frank continued angrily, “you will leave immediately.”
“I am not here to beg or steal,” Marcus said quickly. “There must be a misunderstanding.”
Frank slapped him again, harder this time.
“Shut up.”
Marcus tasted blood.
Frank turned to the security. “Throw him out.”
He looked back at Marcus with contempt. “If I ever see you around the Galaxy Corporation again, I will have you arrested.”
Marcus tried to speak, but Frank was already walking away.
As Frank passed him, he stopped briefly, went into the restroom nearby, washed his hands slowly, then returned. Without hesitation, he wiped his wet hands on Marcus’s clothes, as though cleaning dirt off himself.
“Disgusting,” Frank muttered.
The security grabbed Marcus roughly.
As they dragged him toward the exit, Marcus struggled slightly and shouted, “You will pay for this. All of you.”
The security burst out laughing.
Frank turned around, amused. “Pay?”
He walked closer again, his face filled with mockery. “Who will you call? Who can make me pay?”
He waved his hand dismissively. “For talking nonsense, throw him out of the main gate as well.”
The guards did not hesitate.
They dragged Marcus out of the building, across the compound, ignoring the stares of employees and visitors. Some looked curious, others looked amused, but no one intervened.
When they finally reached the main gate, the guards shoved him out roughly.
Marcus stumbled but managed to stay on his feet.
Behind him, laughter rang out.
The gate closed.
Marcus stood there, breathing heavily, his clothes rumpled, his face burning from the slaps.
Inside the Galaxy Corporation, Frank and the security were still laughing, convinced they had just dealt with another worthless nobody.
They had no idea who they had just thrown out.

Chapter 13
The school campus buzzed with life as students hurried in every direction. Groups lounged under the trees, scrolling through their phones, laughing at videos, or gossiping about the latest drama. But inside the quiet classroom, Marcus sat alone at the back, his head buried in his notebook. He was trying desperately to make sense of the complex formulas Professor Frost had thrown at them before the break. The man was ruthless. Everyone knew it. Professor Frost was not just strict; he was wicked. One wrong answer, one late submission, and you could find yourself on the verge of expulsion. Most students feared him like death itself. A few who had dared challenge him had already packed their bags and left the university for good.Marcus flipped page after page, his brow furrowed in concentration. He could not afford to fail this course. Not again. Professor Frost already disliked him for reasons Marcus could never quite understand. Maybe it was the way he asked questions in class, or perh
Chapter 12:
Marcus lowered the phone slowly after his grandfather’s words faded from the line. The black SUV hummed beneath him, the city lights streaking past the tinted windows. Now.”Mr. Jack nodded once. “Understood.”Within minutes, the road ahead filled with headlights. A convoy of sleek black Mercedes-Benz vehicles appeared, pulling up in perfect formation. Engines purred like distant thunder. The lead car slowed, doors opening in unison. Men in dark suits stepped out, saluting sharply.Mr. Jack brought the SUV to a stop. He turned to Marcus.“I am sorry for everything you endured today, Young Master. It will not happen again.”He saluted deeply, then drove off into the night.Marcus stepped out. Chapter 11
Marcus slipped the phone back into his pocket as Emmanuel’s call ended. The taxi driver glanced at him in the rearview mirror.“Campus, right? Which gate?”“Main entrance,” Marcus said. “And hurry.”The driver nodded and pressed the accelerator. The city blurred past the windows, but Marcus’s mind raced faster. Professor Frost was looking for him. That never ended well. Yet after everything—the fundraiser, the Galaxy Corporation, the black card—fear felt distant, almost foreign. The taxi pulled up at the campus entrance. Marcus handed over more than enough cash. “Keep the change.”The driver’s eyes widened. “Thanks, boss!”Marcus was already moving, legs carrying him across the quad. Students stared as he passed. Whispers followed. Some pointed. He ignored them and headed straight for the lecture hall. The room was empty when he arrived. Chairs pushed back. Chalk dust still floating in the air. Professor Frost had already left.Marcus exhaled, shoulders dropping slightly. Maybe the da
