Meanwhile, Justin was still in a celebrating mood after the party. He told everyone to follow him to a hotel and continue the night.
Mirabel and their friends cheered and drove off together. Justin picked 1 of the biggest hotels in the city.
By coincidence, it was the same hotel Jimmy had checked into hours earlier. Nobody in the group knew it.
They partied in the hotel lounge for hours. Jimmy's name came up every few minutes as a joke.
Justin even played the video of the beating on the big lounge screen. The whole group screamed with laughter as Jimmy crawled on the floor.
"Send it to the entire campus group," Mirabel said. "Everyone should see what he really is."
"Did you see his face when that bracelet hit the trash?" Daniella asked, laughing.
"$500 for a whole year of Mirabel," Becky said. "What a bargain!"
Everyone roared. Mirabel laughed the loudest.
"I can't believe I dated that loser for so long," she said. "I feel dirty just thinking about it."
"Don't worry, baby," Justin said, pulling her close. "You're with a real man now."
Around 2:00 a.m., they took different rooms for the night. Justin and Mirabel took a VIP suite, Suite 301.
It was right next to Jimmy's suite. They had no idea who was sleeping next door.
For hours, they made so much noise that the whole floor could hear. They didn't care who was listening. He was the son of a billionaire after all, who could challenge him?
In the next suite, Jimmy rolled around on his huge bed and couldn't sleep. The noise coming through the wall was too loud.
He wondered what kind of guests couldn't keep it down. He thought about calling the management, but decided to endure it.
He just prayed for morning to come. But the noise wasn't the only thing keeping him awake.
Every time he closed his eyes, he saw Mirabel laughing while he was beaten. His chest felt like it was being squeezed.
He remembered the night she first told him "I love you." They were sitting on a bench in the rain, sharing one umbrella.
He had believed every word. Now he knew it was all a lie.
He hadn't eaten anything the whole day. After her betrayal, he couldn't even think about food.
Even now, the pain came back every time he remembered it. He truly loved her, and that love couldn't just disappear overnight.
At daybreak, Jimmy gave up on sleep. He washed his face and went downstairs to find something to eat.
He was on his way to the VIP dining area when he heard a familiar laugh behind him. His stomach dropped.
"Jimmy?" Mirabel said. "What are you doing in this hotel?"
Justin, Becky, Daniella, and the rest of their friends gathered around him. They looked shocked to see him there.
"It's none of your business," Jimmy replied calmly.
"Wait, don't tell me he works here," Becky said. "Maybe he's the new toilet cleaner!"
"Or he followed Mirabel," Daniella said. "Look at him, stalking her like a stray dog!"
Everyone burst out laughing. A few of them took out their phones to record.
Justin stepped forward with his arm around Mirabel. He had a cruel smile on his face.
"Let me teach you something, orphan," he said. "I got in one night what you couldn't get in 12 months."
"You begged for scraps for a whole year. I took the entire meal in a few hours."
Then he leaned close to Jimmy's ear and whispered.
"Suite 301, all night long. Whoever booked next to us must have heard everything."
Jimmy's blood ran cold. The noise that kept him awake all night came from Justin and Mirabel.
His fists tightened until his nails cut into his palms. He wanted to punch that smile off Justin's face, but he knew better.
He felt sick to his stomach. It was like being stabbed with the same knife twice.
Last night had taught him a lesson. He didn't want to be beaten again in front of a crowd.
He turned to walk away without a word. Mirabel's voice cut through the air behind him.
"How dare you walk out on us?" she snapped. "A pauper like you can't even afford the water in this hotel!"
"Are you stalking me now?" she asked. "You still can't accept that I dumped you."
"He's obsessed with you, babe," Justin said with a smirk. "Some people just can't handle being a charity case."
"Honestly, I should get an award," Mirabel said. "I did charity work for a whole year."
"And thanks for the school fees," she added with a sweet smile. "I treated it as payment for my time."
Jimmy remembered the $62,000 loan that almost cost him his life. He had taken it all for her.
Becky and Daniella clapped for her. They praised Mirabel for finally listening to them and dumping this pauper.
Other hotel guests stopped to watch. A few whispered to each other, and a few shook their heads at Jimmy.
"Look at his shoes," Daniella said. "He probably picked them out of a dumpster."
"Even the hotel cats eat better than you," Becky added. "Go home, beggar."
"Go back to the orphanage and ask for your money back," Justin said. "They clearly raised a loser."
"Maybe that's why his mother threw him away," Becky said. "She took one look at that face and knew."
"At least his mother had some sense," Mirabel said. "I wasted a whole year before I figured it out."
The group howled with laughter. Jimmy stopped walking, and his whole body trembled.
His eyes burned. He had never felt so small in his whole life.
Those words cut deeper than any punch from last night. His mother was the oldest wound he carried.
He thought of the voice that had called him "my son" in the rain. It hadn't sounded like a woman who threw him away for no reason.
Jimmy took a deep breath and turned around. His eyes were red, but his voice was calm.
"Are you done?" he asked quietly.
"One day, you will regret every word you just said."
Justin laughed so hard that he held his stomach. "I'd pay to see that day!"
Jimmy didn't answer. He walked past them without another word.
He went straight to the VVIP dining area at the end of the hall. He pulled out a chair at an empty table and sat down.
He didn't look back. Behind him, the laughter stopped.
Justin's smile slowly disappeared. Nobody had ever ignored him like that.
"Did he just walk away from me?" he asked. His voice shook with anger.
"He's sitting in the VVIP area," Becky said in disbelief. "That boy can't even afford the tea in there!"
"That's an insult to all of us," Mirabel said. "He needs to be thrown out."
Justin cracked his neck and smiled coldly. "Then let's go and make sure he leaves in front of everyone."
They marched toward the VVIP dining area together.
