Ella's sharp eyes stared angrily into Samuel's face. Her hands were clasped around her waist.

"You're overreacting. You're asking me just because of such a small amount of money." The shouting voice made the room hot.

At this moment, Ella raised her hand. Her index finger was right in Samuel's face. "Are you going to accuse me of being a thief in my home?

"You're really too much." Her shout was filled with anger.

Samuel shook his head. "But mom shouldn't have taken the money."

This time, Samuel spoke with a bit of assertiveness. Previously, he had asked very carefully, but his mother-in-law responded angrily.

Darell, who was beside his mother, also gave a piercing look. Both his hands were clenched tightly into fists. "Stop your nonsense!"

He also stepped closer to Samuel, staring at him from a few centimeters away. "You've been living here, and how can you be so ignorant?" His voice was full of emphasis. Before Samuel could answer, he said, "You should realize you are still here."

Darell's breath came faster due to high emotions. "You'd better behave yourself here, loser. Don't you still want to live and eat in this house?!"

"You really are a shameless man. You should realize you're a poor man and live in this house. But you made trouble with my mother." Darell rebuked him, giving Samuel a low look.

This time, he gave a bitter smile. Examining Samuel's poor appearance. "You never even brought happiness to my sister. You are a useless man and a disgrace."

Samuel exhaled. He swallowed the humiliation every day, but this time, Samuel felt that his mother-in-law and sister-in-law's actions were too much.

He looked at the two, and in turn, he suppressed anger. "I collected the money on purpose."

Their faces changed, laughing heartily. "You act like you've accumulated millions of dollars. But in reality, you only have two thousand dollars." Darell spat slightly, giving Samuel an insult.

Samuel behaved calmly, but his face still looked hard. As they said, if he had accumulated two thousand dollars, that money was gone.

His gaze, this time, fell on his mother-in-law. "I collected that money for Fiona."

Darell looked at him angrily. "You boasted 2000 dollars for my sister. Do you think that's enough money for my beautiful sister?" Darell shouted.

This time, he pointed at Samuel's chest, and without releasing his gaze, he again shouted, "Two thousand dollars, that's no use at all."

Ella exhaled in annoyance. This time, she thought of something. Folding her arms before her chest, she stared intently at Samuel's face. "As for Fiona's happiness, it would be better for you to divorce her. That would be much better."

"Fiona is a beautiful woman and very smart. She's even a hard worker, in stark contrast to your uselessness. She doesn't deserve a man like you at all." Ella emphasized. She looked at Samuel very low.

From the beginning, she did not want Samuel and Fiona's relationship. Even until this moment, she wanted her daughter's divorce from Samuel.

Darell, who was there, nodded his head. "Mom said the right thing. You should split up with my sister. She deserves a much better and richer man than you."

"She should get a husband who can care for her, not a loser like you." Darell pointed at his face. Not caring if his words could offend Samuel's pride.

Samuel looked at them coldly. Samuel disapproved of that. "That's not going to happen. I've been trying so hard to make Fiona happy all this time." He tried to explain. He wasn't going to just let Fiona go.

Samuel's answer made both of them angry. Ella's eyes were fiery. She was so sick of looking at Samuel's face. "You really don't know yourself. Get out of my sight. Go back to work."

"Don't just make me feel ashamed. I'll wait for your divorce papers for my daughter," Ella shouted. She felt ashamed, having a son-in-law who was nothing to be proud of.

Samuel looked at them coldly. The insults were always welcome, and Samuel chose to leave. He would not part with Fiona no matter what.

"Mom, what if we set Fiona up with Jerico? He's a manager in a big company. Besides, his family is also very wealthy. Letting Fiona stay with that loser, we won't get any benefits. I'm pretty sure that we'll be able to gain a lot if Fiona marries that guy."

Darell's voice made Samuel stop walking. He glanced at him briefly before he finally walked away from there.

Samuel had heard the words of those who wanted to set Fiona up with a rich man. They always acted up when they didn't get anything from her. It made him tired and fed up. Their words only put him in a bad mood.

Samuel walked away from that place. He stopped his steps inside a building. He did not go to work immediately but chose to sit and contemplate his fate there.

This time, his face hardened, with both hands clenched tightly. "I will not let Fiona go."

He loved Fiona very much. He had always worked very hard. He even took on extra work and hoped that money would gather quickly. But at this moment, all the money he had accumulated had been taken by his mother-in-law. He couldn't afford any luxuries for his wife at all.

Samuel exhaled his breath. Staring at the blue sky for a while. "Where am I going to get the 2000 dollars from again? I'd love to give Fiona some jewelry."

He massaged his dizzy head. He wouldn't even be able to raise that money again anytime soon.

This time, he picked up the hard bread he had bought earlier. Eating it slowly to fill her hungry stomach. He just wanted to save his money for now.

Suddenly, he heard the sound of objects rubbing together from above. The sound became more straightforward and more transparent. Samuel frowned, looking around. Right then, he saw a piece of metal fall under his feet.

Samuel glanced up. But he was immediately startled when a large piece of concrete was pointed at him.

The concrete shifted and moved to fall right on top of him.

This sent him into a panic. He was about to move and leave, but he realized that the force of the concrete was even faster in the blink of an eye. Before he could escape, the concrete had fallen and struck him.

Samuel felt the hard blow that hit his body, leaving him crushed without being able to do anything else.

"...Am I going to die...?"
