The commotion in the Grand Medical Pavilion had soon quieted down. It was the Lin Family's private army that operated in an efficient organized manner.

Victor Vance lay curled on the VIP box floor, holding his maimed hand, his face pale and slick with sweat. He was not at all the obnoxious arrogant prince of the Capital. He now looked like a broken man, quietly whimpering in the ruins of his own ambition.

He was dragged up by two Lin guards from his armpits.

"My father..." Victor wheezed, spit flying from his lips. "My father will burn this city to the ground! You can't arrest me! I am a Vance!"

Lin Yuna stepped over the debris with the high heels clicking on the broken glass and stopped right in front of him, boredom written all over her face.

"Your father," Yuna said while checking her phone, "just boarded a private jet three minutes ago, flying towards international waters. He left you, Victor. You are the sacrifice."

Victor's eyes widened. "No, that's a lie!"

The streetlights on the winding road leading back to Maple Street flickered and died, plunging the stretch of asphalt into an unnatural darkness. In front of the driving seat of the luxury sedan that had been acquired as part of the assets along with the auction house, Ethan narrowed his eyes. While the temperature inside the car was not dropping, the atmosphere created was heavy, suffocating."Ethan?" was a soft whisper from Emily who was clutching the box containing the Soul Mending Flower. "Why did the lights go out?""Stay in the car," Ethan said, voice low. "And lock the doors."He slammed on the brakes. The car screeched to a halt in the middle of the empty road. The shadows cast by the roadside trees came to life before their eyes. They didn't stretch or fade; they detached themselves from the pavement, rising up like viscous oil to form a hooded figure standing ten feet tall."Shadow Puppet Technique? I never thought there'd be cultivators in River City," Ethan muttered while

The siege at Maple Street had ended as abruptly as it began, but the silence inside the Smith residence was heavy with unspoken questions. In the master bedroom, Emily sat wrapped in three thick blankets, despite the thermostat being set to seventy-five degrees. Her lips were pale, trembling slightly."It’s getting worse," Ethan murmured, his fingers pressed against her wrist. He could feel it—a profound, unnatural chill radiating from her bones. It was the "Nine Yin Cold Constitution," a rare congenital condition. Before, his medical skills were insufficient to detect it fully, but with his breakthrough to the Foundation Establishment stage, his "Divine Sight" saw the frost slowly encasing her meridians."I’m just... a little cold," Emily chattered, trying to smile. "It happens every winter.""It’s not winter, Emily. It’s mid-autumn," Ethan said grimly. "Your Yin energy is overflowing. If we don't balance it soon, your blood will freeze in your veins."He walked to the desk where a g

The breaking news report on the television screen froze on the image of Ethan Smith standing amidst the confetti rain in the Capital. The headline read: "MYSTERY DOCTOR REJECTS BILLION-DOLLAR OFFER." Karen's body sat slumped on the couch, a black card quivering in her hand. She looked from the screen to the man in her kitchen and then back to the card."It's...it's a fake," Karen muttered, aghast. Her voice shook. "It has to be. You? The Medical God? You can't even pay for your own cigarettes!"She jumped for her phone, dialing the number on the back of the black card. Speaker mode: On. Hands: Sweating.A silky, computerized voice filled the room: "Welcome to the Lin Family Imperial Bank. Please enter your PIN.""He didn't give me a PIN!" Karen screamed, glaring at Ethan."It doesn't need one," Ethan said calmly as he set a glass of water down for Emily on the table. "It is biometric. It recognizes the voice of the holder. Or in this case... the person holding it."Kare

30,000 Feet Above Sea Level. The Lin Family Private Jet.The cabin was silent, save for the hum of the engines. Ethan sat cross-legged on the plush leather floor, holding the Dragon Heart Grass."We land in thirty minutes, Mr. Smith," the pilot announced over the intercom."That's enough time," whispered Ethan. He did not boil the root. He did not grind it. He bit directly into the dried, dragon-shaped herb.It tasted of fire and iron.A burning sensation exploded in his stomach as the herb went down. The rage of the torrent was different from normal warm Qi. The ancient medicinal energy blew through his meridians, tearing them apart and sewing them again together instantly, stronger than before.Ethan gritted his teeth and sweat rolled off his brow. His bones cracked in a voice audible to the average person as they reshaped and formed a denser body. The "bottleneck" that kept him at the peak of the Mortal Realm for three years shattered.Boom.There was an invisible energy shockwave

Weak, thin, terrorized, one would have been emptying it into inexorable realms. The sound cascaded through the Grand Medical Pavilion and obliterated everyone's sanity.Ten seconds seemed to suspend time when no one moved. The camera operators forgot to zoom in. The judges forgot to breathe. Every single one of the five thousand spectators sat in collective awe with minds unable to fathom what they had just witnessed.Leaning against the table, Ethan Smith wiped his forehead with his palm. The nearly forty percent of his internal Qi almost drained by the Nine Heavens Resurrection Technique posed the least of his worries. The tremor in his hands now arose not from fear but from the unbridled physical toll of pulling a soul from the tether of death."'He...he's alive?" came a woman's voice in the front row. Then the dam burst."He's alive! The boy is alive!""Medical God! He is a true Medical God!"There was a true eruption in the arena. Everyone stood up on their chairs and screamed Et
