“Then how much were you talking about?” There was a foreboding silence in the air, Malia had an ominous feeling as she saw the strange smile on Rhys face.

“Five hundred billion.” The whole restaurant went silence, even Alessandro’s eyes popped out in disbelief. That amount was not a big deal for him, he could easily give that to Rhys as allowance monthly but he doubted that any other family would be able to raise such amount for their descendants on a monthly basis.

“He is no different from his mother.” He mumbled to himself as he continued to watch the show. He looked at Rhys in a different light and was very impressed by this son of his.

“You must be joking right?” The laugh on Rafael’s lips froze.

“How are we supposed to raise that kind of money?! Are you crazy Rhys?”

“Of course I’ve gone crazy. Like you said, I am poor so I need a means to make money.” He had an aggrieved expression on his face which caused some of the people present to burst into laughter.

Rhys claimed he was poor but he was asking for such a huge amount. “If you don’t have the money right now, you can write an IOU, pending till when you would be able to pay up.”

“Have you gone nuts?!” Malia started to panic, regretting how she had just taunted Rhys. If there were no other people present, she would have gone to her knees to apologize and beg his forgiveness. She assumed that Rhys was still infatuated with her and would definitely do as she asked if she begged him enough.

“Yes! I’m crazy. So what’s your decision, you either strip or write an IOU. The choice is yours, you have one minute to decide, the clock is ticking.”

One minute passed, before Rhys could speak up, Alessandro yelled from where he was. “Time’s up! It’s time to see a strip show everyone.”

Everyone liked drama and it’s quite fun seeing the wicked suffer for their deeds, most of the people were looking forward to the show and they echoed Alessandro’s words. He continued. “Free popcorn and the most expensive wine to everyone present here, put it on my tab!” A few people who recognized Alessandro cheered at this. They were curious about the relationship between Alessandro and Rhys but no one was bold to ask.

Alessandro’s words were like a law, within minutes, waiters had stepped out with wine and popcorn, carefully placing it on everyone’s table. Rafael could recognize the wine and he knew that one bottle was no less than a seven figured sum, he became curious about Alessandro’s identity but he had made a complete fool of himself.

Malia looked around the restaurant in confusion, she silently tugged on Rafael’s shirt and asked. “What do we do? Are we going to strip right here?”

“I would write an IOU.” Rafael suddenly announced, the suddenly silence that filled the restaurant was quite amusing.

Rhys chuckled as he saw the expression on displeasure on the people’s faces. “Are you sure about that?”

“Yes.” Rafael frowned at him ash he nodded.

A waiter suddenly showed up with blank papers and two pens, an IOU had already been written for both parties and all that was needed was their signature. Malia frowned at the contents of the IOU. “Am I suppose to pay five hundred billion too? I thought both of us are supposed to split the cost.”

Rhys chuckled as he ran a hand through his hair. “I forgot to mention, both of you are supposed to pay five hundred billion each. Forgive me for my error earlier.”

Malia’s face could not be whiter than what it seemed, her body shook as she held the pain. The same could be said for Rafael as he had begun to calculate all his assets but still it didn’t reach half of the amount he was supposed to pay.

Before any of them could protest, Rhys continued speaking. “I suppose we need a witness here? Does any-”

Alessandro suddenly rushed towards them, “I would be your witness.” He subtly gave Rhys a thumbs up.

“Do you have a witness with him being your witness.” Both father and son pretended not to know one another as they reeled the big fishes into their trap.

“Who are you?” Rafael inquired, from the way Alessandro carried himself, he could tell that he was no ordinary person and he also wanted to get on his good side so he could get future benefits.

“Well, you don’t need to know my esteemed self name, but I could be regarded as a member of the prominent families.” Alessandro said with a matter of fact tone as if what he was talking about meant nothing.

The pin drop silence that followed after his words was astonishing, everyone but the attendant who had attended to Rhys was stunned. A fawning smile appeared on Malia’s face, a suspicious glint in her eyes. “It is nice to meet your esteemed self sir, I am Malia Meyers, I don’t think you have heard about my family, it’s such a-”

“En, the family that could raise a person like you, I wouldn’t like to know your family.” Alessandro’s words were very blunt, shocking his son too. “Why don’t you hurry up and sign the IOU now, I have somewhere else to be.”

Malia’s face turned red in embarrassment, she quickly signed the IOU to avoid offending the man any further. As long as he could get in the man’s good books, Rafael would disregard whatever insult thrown in his way.

“I apologize for having you witness what happened earlier.” Rafael apologize with a genuine smile as he signed the IOU. The father and son were not stupid, they noticed the calculating expression in his eyes.

“Yeah. I hope both of you don’t go back on your words or the consequences would be disastrous.” Alessandro said without caring about their thoughts.
