Martin strode quickly toward Kaylee, who still stood in the middle of the room, her shoulders trembling as she tried to hold back her tears. Mateo followed behind, his breathing heavy, his face shifting from exhaustion to concern when he saw his daughter clutching the shattered remains of a vase in her hands.

“Kaylee, what’s going on here?” Mateo’s voice was low but sharp.

Kaylee kept her head down, tears clinging to her lashes, making her look heartbreakingly fragile.

“The vase… the one from Liam… It’s broken… I just found it,” her voice quivered, barely above a whisper. She didn’t accuse anyone outright, but the tone alone was enough to make the air in the room turn cold.

Martin stood still for a few seconds, his gaze sweeping across the servants who all kept their heads bowed. He didn’t speak to Kaylee again, instead, he turned toward one of the maids standing closest to him.

“Who did this?” he asked evenly, his tone not raised, but heavy with authority that made the maid tremble.

Mateo stared at Tyson in disbelief, not just because of the request itself, but because of the calm tone in which it was delivered. His expression shifted, the anger he had been holding back could no longer be contained and turned into a burning rage.“What did you just say?” he asked quietly, his voice hoarse from trying to suppress his fury. He was attempting to stay composed, but his tone was still tight, like a spring ready to snap.Tyson didn’t raise his voice, he simply met his father’s eyes, as if he had already made up his mind about something that needed no further explanation.“I want the same position as Martin.”The words came out without any excess emotion, and that was precisely what made them all the more infuriating to Mateo and Martin.Silence fell like a heavy fog. Even the ticking of the wall clock sounded intrusive. The servants standing at the edges of the room held their breath, their backs stiff with tension as they watched the sudden clash unfold.Martin turned

Mateo stood in front of the sofa, both fists clenched tightly at his sides. The veins on his temple bulged, and his face had turned red from holding back his anger.“You really have no manners,” he said in a low, sharp voice.“You show up here without an ounce of shame, sit down as if you own the place, order the servants around, and talk as though you still have a place in this house?”Tyson didn’t flinch. He simply raised his glass, took a slow sip, and looked at Mateo with a calm, flat gaze.“I’m not acting like I have a place here. I do have a place,” he said evenly.“Then or now, I’m still a De Leon, right?”He glanced between the two, and with no trace of embarrassment added, “Didn’t you both just welcome me a few days ago? Even held a dinner in my honor?”The words, spoken with such quiet confidence, only fueled Mateo’s and Martin’s irritation. Because, even if they didn’t want to admit it, what Tyson said was true. That dinner had been Mateo’s idea, not out of affection, but t

Tyson didn’t answer right away. His gaze remained fixed on Anna, yet there was distance there, not the kind measured in space, but a thick layer of caution. After several encounters, he’d learned that Anna was good with words, always knowing how to place herself even in the tensest situations. But that was exactly why he couldn’t fully trust her.The decision to “become allies” had come too easily… especially from someone who had always lived between shades of gray.Still, he didn’t refuse either. If Anna truly intended to deceive him, Tyson would find out. He only needed time to see which direction she would take.Silence crept between them. The ticking of the clock grew louder, echoing in the small room filled with unspoken tension. Both remained quiet, assessing each other inwardly, trying to read what hid behind those calm expressions.Until finally, Anna broke the silence with a light tone, shifting the topic. “So… do you have enough capital to start that business?”Tyson looked

Tyson sat at his desk, a small lamp in the corner casting light over a laptop screen filled with charts and notes he'd made himself. His fingers moved quickly across the keyboard, typing, deleting, recalculating, then writing again. On the screen appeared layered diagrams: maps of connections between the De Leon family, underground networks, shell companies, and a list of individuals involved in the old case that had ruined his life.In the corner of the screen, a small window showed a line of system text:[Re-evaluation process running: primary priorities not yet set. Do you want the system to recommend an order of actions?]Tyson let out a short breath. “Show recommendations.”The text on the screen changed rapidly.[Recommendations: Gather resources. Build an influence network. Develop an economic base to support main operations. Eliminate secondary targets before confronting the De Leon family.]Tyson stared at the list for a long moment, then muttered to himself, “Resources, inf

Anna let out another sigh this time longer. She lowered her head for a moment, her hands clenched tightly on her lap before she lifted her gaze back to him.The narration slipped quietly into her thoughts. She didn’t even know why she had waited last night. Didn’t know why, when she saw Tyson unconscious from a high fever three days ago, her heart had pounded too fast and her body had moved before her mind could think. She hadn’t weighed the risks. She hadn’t analyzed. She simply didn’t care. As if something inside her, something stubborn and irrational, had pushed her to protect that man.But Tyson didn’t know that. He didn’t need to know.“My kindness isn’t for you,” she said finally, her voice low but sharp. “It’s because you’ve already dragged me into this.”Her gaze locked with his, unwavering and defiant, but beneath it lingered a faint trace of unease.“And since I’ve been involved from the start,” she continued, her tone firm, “I might as well stay involved until the end.”Ann

Tyson opened the door to his apartment and glanced briefly at Anna.“Come in,” he said quietly, almost without inflection.Anna stepped inside carefully. The room was silent and spotless, just as she remembered it three days ago, a place more suited for existing than living. There were no photos, no personal items besides a few books and electronic devices neatly arranged on the desk.Tyson walked straight to the kitchen without looking back.“Sit down,” he said, his tone carrying the weight of a habit he’d spoken many times, even though it was clear he’d never really had guests.Anna took a seat at the dining table. Her gaze followed Tyson’s every move, the way he opened the fridge, took out ingredients, and washed his hands. His movements were calm, efficient, but strangely… attentive. The soft sound of a knife tapping against the cutting board filled the air, vegetables being sliced thinly one after another, and soon the faint aroma of sautéed food began to replace the heavy silenc
