Back inside the manor, Dr. Shaun did, in fact, possess some genuine skill.

He stood tall at the bedside, syringe held steady in his hand.

His fingers moved with practiced grace—slow, precise—as he slid the needle into Lord Leonardo’s vein.

As the drug spread through the bloodstream, the deathly gray pallor on Lord Leonardo’s face began to fade.

Color slowly crept back into his cheeks—first a faint pink, then a warmer rose.

His eyelids fluttered.

A soft, shaky sigh slipped from his lips.

In fact, this was exactly what Adam had planned.Early that morning, Adam had communicated with the Alessandro family. A simple request, quickly granted. Kai Shadow would temporarily take charge of all matters concerning Treasure Hospital, an interim director with full authority, reporting directly to the new owners. The bait was set. The trap laid.Adam nodded lightly, his expression calm but his eyes gleaming with cold satisfaction. "Then let's use this chance to take back everything the Black family stole from me. Every dollar. Every cent. With interest."Kai leaned back, crossing his arms. "And Luca? What's the play there?"Adam's face hardened. His voice dropped to something barely above a whisper, soft, terrible, absolute."Luca is finished. When Tracy and Luca stood in front of me and forced that poison down my throat, when they laughed about it afterward, when they spent my money and planned my death, that was the moment I decided. I will never forgive those two. Not now.

"I also have good news."Tracy's eyebrows rose. "Good news?""Very good news." Luca paused, drawing out the moment. "I've already made contact with the current director of Treasure Hospital."Tracy's breath caught. Her heart hammered against her ribs. "You mean—""That's right." Luca's voice swelled with pride. "The top-tier hospital. I've established a direct line to the man who's currently running operations there."Tracy clutched the phone tighter, her earlier fury momentarily forgotten. "Does this mean….Luca, does this mean John's company can get the renovation project?"Luca laughed, a confident, expansive sound. "Consider it almost finalized. The director is very interested in moving forward quickly. He wants to meet with potential contractors as soon as possible.""When?" Tracy demanded. "When can John meet him?""I've already arranged it," Luca said smoothly. "Tonight. At Crystal Hotel. The director will be having dinner there, and I've secured a table nearby. John can pre

Tracy stared at Adam's retreating back, her chest heaving with a mixture of resentment and contempt. Her eyes followed him until he disappeared through the hotel's revolving doors. After all these years, she thought, I know him better than anyone. He's nothing, a lowly commoner with no background, no connections, no power. There's no way he could ever compete with the Max family. Her lips pressed into a thin line. We'll see about that. The crowd dispersed. Soon only the Black family remained, standing amid the wreckage of their dreams like survivors of a shipwreck.Jaxson's face was pale as death, his earlier bluster completely drained. He leaned against a concrete pillar for support, his swollen mouth working silently."When... when did Adam get involved with big shots like that?" he finally managed, his voice cracking. Zara shook her head, still struggling to process what she'd witnessed. Her hand pressed against her bruised cheek as though checking it was real, that all of this w

Adam had no intention of letting the Black family profit from him, but he didn't want the car for himself either; he thought the car was filthy just by association. Magnus reached into his pocket and produced a set of keys, which he extended toward Adam with both hands, a gesture of utmost respect."Mr. Cole, please. Take these."Adam raised an eyebrow."They're the keys to my personal vehicle," Magnus explained. "A brand new luxury sedan, parked in my reserved spot. Consider it a replacement for the inconvenience you've suffered today." He pressed the keys into Adam's palm. "I'll handle all the transfer procedures myself. You need not worry about a thing. The vehicle will be registered in your name by end of day."Before Adam could refuse, Magnus turned sharply and waved his hand at the waiting security guards."Now. Deal with that."What happened next was swift, brutal, and absolute.Four guards approached the Black family's prized sports car, heavy-duty tools in their hands. Crow

The guards immediately straightened, their batons dropping to their sides.Tracy's eyes lit up with vindication. Finally—someone with real authority. Someone who would put Adam back in his place."Magnus!" She stepped forward, her voice dripping with entitled confidence. "Thank God you're here. This man attacked us, assaulted my parents, and my brother. Look at their faces! I want him arrested. I want him banned from this hotel. Luca will hear about this, and he'll—"Magnus didn't glance at her. He didn't acknowledge a single word she said.Instead, he walked straight past her outstretched hand, and stopped directly in front of Adam. Then, in full view of the guards, the Black family, and everyone watching, Magnus Chen—general manager of Crystal Hotel, bowed deeply from the waist."Mr. Cole." His voice trembled with genuine remorse. "Please accept my most profound apologies."Magnus continued, his voice rising as he addressed his subordinates. "You fools! All of you! This man is a d

The security chief's face darkened. This nobody, this clearly insignificant man in his bargain clothes, dared to speak to him like that? Dared to act as though his name meant something?"I don't give a damn who you are!" the chief roared, his voice echoing through the garage. His grip tightened on the baton. "Luca himself could have you erased for breathing the same air as his woman. You think your name matters?"He stepped forward, baton raised."Anyone—anyone—who causes trouble at this hotel gets their hands and feet broken. That's the rule. That's the Alessandro family way."The Black family leaned forward, eager, hungry for the violence to come.Tracy's smile widened. Adam's expression didn't change. If anything, that terrible calm deepened. The chief's baton whistled through the air, aimed directly at Adam's thigh, a disabling blow meant to shatter bone.Adam moved. Not backward or away, but forward. His leg swept up in a blur—too fast to track, too precise to dodge. His foot co
