When Clyde got out of the building, he found Clarissa waiting for a cab. He walked up to her. He sighed in his heart. He could not believe his marriage ended just like that.

He understood Clarissa's worries; women liked the typical strong alpha rich men. Men strong enough to shield them from harm, and also rich enough to provide their needs. He was strong no doubt, but he wasn't rich (at least in this fake life of his).

This was the reason Clarissa left him. He bore no animosity towards her, despite what the old man inside the courthouse had said.

“Clarissa, I wish you the best in life. I hope you find someone who will love you as much as I do, and who will take good care of you. You truly deserve to live a good life.” Clyde said with sincerity.

He truly loved Clarissa, if things were in his power, he would have told her about his real identity a long time ago, but sadly he couldn't say anything about it. So right now he was trying to soothe her feelings and show that he understood her predicament, but to his surprise, Clarissa simply sneered.

“Of course I found someone who would take good care of me. I also found someone who's ready to splash thousands of trium on me. You think all men are as useless as you are?” She sulked.

Flustered, Clyde’s lips parted, “Hah!, why say more?”

“You think after wasting a year of my life with you, I would accept another slum dweller's marriage proposal? You really are delusional. And yes I deserve to live a good life, which is why I want to stay as far away from you as possible lest you infect me with your pauper sickness!” She kept on yelling.

“Only God knows what I would have become if I spent another year with you. Gods! I was blind and dumb to have accepted your proposal and foolish to have believed your promises. You know what Clyde, getting married to you Clyde, was the biggest mistake I ever made!”

Clarissa spewed out a lot of hurtful words at Clyde. If a stranger was there, they would think Clyde had truly been a good for nothing or not a suitable husband for any woman.

Clyde smiled bitterly. He was utterly hurt by all Clarissa said. The love he has cherished for the past one year was now discarded as trash.

He only had to live a simple life for three years, and after two years, he thought it was best to get married, which he did.. but now. Where had he gone wrong?

He never cheated on her, he always made sure to show how much he loves her in the best way he could. He defended her from muggers and touts.

And now, all because he could not buy her a Lamborghini Aventador, a BMW X7 or get her designer clothes from Hermes and Chanel. Was her love for him genuine? Was her love for him based on materialistic things?

Perhaps the middle-aged man and his PA were right, she doesn't deserve to be his wife. Perhaps she never even loved him.

Clyde's heart got crushed as he began to realize that he never really mattered to her, none of the sacrifices he made for her sake mattered.. He was just a low slum dweller to her.. and this realization, coupled with her hurtful words cut him deeply.

As Clyde stared at Clarissa's sneering face, Clyde's love for Clarissa began to diminish at a fast rate till it vanished into thin air. He no longer felt anything for this materialistic woman in front of him. And even if she begs him later, he won't ever accept her back.

Right then, an expensive car stops by Clarissa's side.. It was a blue BMW X7, and out came a short bald man with a big belly, unrelated to Clarissa in any way. This man could not be classified as handsome. He was so ugly with crooked teeth.

Clyde recognized this man as the son of the general manager of the OLR company (Omega Lorenzo Royalty) he works at with Clarissa.. his name was Seth Mandeep, son of Nicholas Mandeep who was the general manager of the company.

Seth Mandeep was a well known playboy. It was unclear how he managed to hook the ladies to his side despite his unhidden ugliness.

“Darling, you are here.” Clarissa greets Seth with a sweet smile on her face. She walks towards him in a seductive manner towards Seth.

'Women who suddenly find faults in you and request for separation have one thing in common; they have found someone else and seek to ditch their former lover' the middle-aged man's words rang in Clyde's mind immediately he saw this.

“This can't be happening, right?” Clyde muttered to himself.

“Oh love, you look simply stunning.” the ugly short Seth said while showing a smile that only made his face look like rat's shit.

Surprisingly Clarissa didn't think much of it, but instead flashed a seductive smile.

Clyde stood a bit farther from them as he witnessed a scene he never ever thought could be possible. “Was she going to go with this stature of a man just because she's greedy?” He mumbled to himself.

Unable to believe his eyes, he only waited to see what was to happen next.

The clearing stood in stunned silence as the night wind stirred the pine needles and whistled between the barrels of drawn rifles. The woman named Valeria stepped forward, her boots crunching softly against the gravel of the compound path. Her coat fluttered behind her like the wings of some dark omen. Her expression was calm, surgical—eyes like steel, calculating everything and giving nothing away.Derick stepped to the forefront, his weapon unwavering. “Last chance. Identify your purpose or turn around. This isn’t a diplomatic mission.”Valeria’s lip curved ever so slightly. “Relax, Commander. If I wanted war, your perimeter would already be ash. I came to speak. Preferably before the next decision you make costs you your command.”Danielle emerged from the shadows of the main building, her steps brisk, gaze locked onto Valeria. She stood beside Derick, not out of allegiance—but necessity.“Valeria,” Danielle said, her voice low, laced with bitter recognition. “I thought you were a

Every step forward was another yard between her and the charred remains of Seth’s crumbling empire. But the escape wasn’t complete—not yet. She needed extraction. She crouched by a moss-covered rock, pulling the radio she’d taken from the fallen guard. She turned the frequency dial, hoping someone, anyone, was listening. Static at first. Then a crackle.“repeat, team alpha has arrived. Targets neutralized. No visuals on the asset.”Danielle pressed the button. “This is Danielle. I'm in the woods southeast of the compound. Heading toward creekside. Respond.”A tense pause. Then, “Danielle! Thank God. This is Derick. Hold your position. I’m sending two men to get you. Do not engage. Do you copy?”“Copy that. Just hurry
