Agnes did not spare Marco a single glance as she led him down the narrow corridor toward the back. Her silence was a wall, heavy and intentional, and Marco knew better than to break it. Margaret looked up from the couch she had managed to sit on. The sound of the front door caused her to turn, only to see David coming in. She had just tried Elena's number for about the sixth time and it was not going through. David's face was unreadable, probably returning from one of the places he usually went. She had to ask him and see if he knew Elena's whereabouts."David, do you know where Elena went?" she hastily asked, hoping he would give her a good answer. But David shrugged reluctantly with his hands open and said, "How am I supposed to know? We both saw her leave."The look in Margaret's eyes showed him that a dismissive response was not going to work in this case."I don't know about your daughter and her exploit," he said with a vague expression and turned to leave. This was when Margaret informed him that Elena had not come back home since she left that morning and that her line was not even going through.David stopped at a step and turned to her."I think I should ca

  • CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TWO

As soon as Don Lugard had gotten off the call with Sal, he headed back to Empire Fortuna immediately. He did not go to his office this time around as he usually did. He went downstairs where Susan was already tied up and tortured very well."So you were the one who had been giving Dante information about the club all the while. How dare you betray Empire Fortuna?" Don Lugard questioned her without seriousness in his face."Sir, I did not give him any information about the club. I have not been in contact with him since he was expelled, and I have never betrayed the club," Susan said as she was crying in pain."I can see that you are not willing to speak up and tell me what you and Dante have been doing, but guess what, if you don't speak up and tell me everything that has been happening, I am going to kill your son," Don Lugard threatened her.Susan was shocked because she was unaware that he knew she had a son. She had not told anyone that she had a son because she was trying to prot

But before I do that, I promise you all that I am going to get that pendant by all means and prove to every one of you that I am the rightful heir and none of you can amount to me,” Don Lugard said with all seriousness on his face, with the picture in his hand, and then his phone began ringing. He kept the picture back into the safe and locked it up as he went to get his phone."Hello boss, Bruno was just attacked as he was leaving the motel with Elena," a male voice said to him through the phone."What do you mean by Bruno was attacked? • CHAPTER NINETY NINE

Marco worked quietly, his movements steady even though the atmosphere in the hall felt thick and metallic. The scent of bleach lingered in the air, not strong enough to mask the underlying odor of old blood and damp concrete. He pulled back the old dusty stained sheets covering a particular bed, his jaw tightening as the reality of where he stood pressed in again. This room had seen too many things… None of them clean. From the yellowish to the brownish stains... even blacked dotted ones, he knew a lot had happened. His head glanced around the space, wondering deep down if there were ghosts who still lingered... holding onto something dear to them that probably stemmed from how they had died. This monastery...it was old.
