7 Why Are You Saying Such Beautiful Things Now?

"I hope you are one of those few women who would want me," Ken said, mustering his courage.

"And if I am, what then?" Lidya prodded.

"I would be very happy if that were the case. Because, since several months ago, I have been harboring feelings for you." Ken gazed deeply into Lidya's beautiful eyes.

"Why only now..." Lidya stopped her words because two waiters arrived, bringing the food and drinks that Ken and Lidya had ordered.

Lidya waited until the two waiters left, after which she asked again, "Why are you only making a move now?"

The real reason should have been Tony's arrival bringing news about his father's illness and his mother's position as company leader being at risk of being replaced by his second uncle. However, because Ken couldn't reveal that reason, Ken simply said, "Perhaps the universe arranged it so that only now can I say it. What is clear is that only God knows how much I have longed for your love."

Lidya fell silent. Ken's last words, spoken so sincerely, resonated deeply in Lidya's ears, moving her. Ken's words had touched her heart, making Lidya immediately fall silent and gaze intently at Ken.

"So. What do you say?" Ken asked when he saw that Lidya was still silent and hadn't made a sound.

"Do you want to hear my answer?" Lidya asked after managing to calm the turmoil in her heart.

"Yes. I really want to hear it."

"I will only say that I'm angry at you."

"Huh? Why angry?" This answer from Lidya was unexpected by Ken, who had felt that Lidya shared the same feelings.

"Because words like what you just said, when you said only God knows, should have been said several months ago. I wanted to hear them several months ago. Why are you only saying something that beautiful now? Why did you keep putting it off?"

Ken smiled upon hearing Lidya's words. From initially thinking that Lidya was truly angry at him, now Ken could smile with relief hearing Lidya's words. "Forgive me."

"I forgive you. But you shouldn't have made a girl wait that long."

"At first it was because I was hesitant, Lidya. Because of that, for so many full moons, I hesitated to approach you."

"Hesitant why?"

"Because you are a fairly successful broker, while I'm just a person of no means. My job..."

"Not all women look at a man's status and job. I am one of those women who don't look at such things. I only look at the man's sincerity. I only look at his character, whether he's good or not. Because back in high school, I was traumatized when I dated a guy, the son of a wealthy family, but he felt he was too great to be with just one woman. Because of that, he cheated with several women behind my back until I happened to find out and ended my relationship with him."

"I'm not like that guy. In fact, I was once disappointed by two women whom I loved at two different times, but then they left me for other men," Ken stated.

"That means we share the same fate."

"Yes. We share the same fate." Ken looked at Lidya and held her hand. "I hope that you will become my final harbor of love."

Lidya held Ken's hand in return. For all these months, Lidya had indeed liked Ken. Almost every day she hoped Ken would start making a move to approach her. But it didn't happen until now.

"You haven't answered my question. Will you make me happy? Will you return my love?" Ken asked again because Lidya had not yet answered his question.

"I will." Lidya smiled sweetly at Ken.

"Thank you. You have truly brightened my heart."

"Eat first." Lidya pointed to the fried rice that Ken had ordered.

Ken immediately ate with a joyful heart because he felt the sincerity of Lidya's love. A woman willing to accept a man from a lower class who only had a simple job like Ken was something extraordinary.

In the past, the women who had dated Ken all accepted Ken because Ken was a member of the Wong Family, the richest family in Hong Kong, with assets from America, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, mainland China, India, and all Southeast Asian countries.

Yet those two women who had dated Ken still had the heart to betray Ken behind his back, fooling around with other men while taking Ken's wealth.

Ken had felt that his wealth was a curse to him, because he didn't meet women who loved him for who he was, but instead met materialistic women who only wanted to drain his wealth without ever loving him.

Ken had felt that the status as a member of an enormously wealthy family that he bore was a curse to him, because women approached Ken only to seek his wealth but never truly loved him.

That was why Ken deliberately ran away from his family, ran away from his family's luxurious life, and lived a hard life as a cleaning service so that he could meet a woman who truly loved him for who he was, because Ken appeared before that woman without the trappings of his family name and company name.

Ken had great wealth. But all along, his heart had been empty, without the woman he longed for.

Now, after struggling to build an image as a poor man who only worked as a cleaning service, Ken finally found a girl who could accept him for who he was, a girl who was not materialistic, and most certainly, loved Ken unconditionally. This was what made Ken happy.

After finishing their meal, Lidya said, "I want to say something."

"What is it?"

"Here's the thing. I accept you for who you are. Tomorrow, I will introduce you as my boyfriend, and I'm not ashamed. It's just that I also want you to move forward. So, starting tomorrow, I will try to launch you to join the stockbroker team under me. What do you think?"

"But I'm afraid of embarrassing you. I'm just a cleaning service. Of course, I don't know how the stock market works," Ken lied.

In the past, when he was still working at his family's company, Ken had caused many of his family's company competitors to panic with the stock trading strategies he executed.
