Stella was stunned. "You see? This is exactly what I've been telling you—he only married you for your money," Gabriel said.

"What money are you talking about, Gabriel? The Johnson family was nothing until I entered their lives. I made their company what it is today!" Nicklaus said, pointing at Stella.

"Stop talking nonsense! You didn't do anything. You don't own the company, and whatever you did was just your job," Stella retorted, causing Nicklaus to chuckle softly.

"I think the only ungrateful person here is you, not me. But I don't care. Here's your divorce agreement, Stella—you should sign it too," Nicklaus said, throwing the papers to her.

She bent down and picked them up, enraged and struggling to stay calm. She signed the papers and hissed, "The money I was going to give you to start a new life? Consider it gone. I won't give you a single penny unless you beg and apologize for this public embarrassment."

She looked around at the gathering crowd of onlookers who had abandoned their activities to watch.

Nicklaus bit his lip and said quietly, "I don't need your money. If anything, your father owes me for all the work I've done. Whenever he pays me, he always cuts my salary by sixty percent."

The small crowd gasped. "That's so unfair!"

"I can't believe this. Mr. Johnson is supposed to be a noble man—why would he treat this poor man like that?"

"I bet he's jealous of the man's potential."

"What potential?"

"Haven't you seen the news?"

"What are you talking about?"

At this point, both Stella and Nicklaus stopped arguing and turned toward the murmuring. They saw a middle-aged woman trying to pull her phone from her bag.

Without delay, Stella also took out her phone, but Nicklaus had no device—he'd sold it earlier to raise money for his sister's treatment.

Nicklaus stepped closer to Stella, maintaining a reasonable distance. He frowned when he saw his name in the news headline.

By now, everyone in the crowd had pulled out their phones to check the news.

"Mr. Nicklaus Henshaw, son-in-law to Mr. Johnson, has accomplished what many would call a miracle," the headline read.

Nicklaus furrowed his brow. He didn't know how they'd obtained his photo—the picture was from three years ago, after his medical school graduation.

"Mr. Fin, who has been ill for many years, has finally been cured by this gentleman," the article continued.

Gabriel immediately looked at the photo and gritted his teeth.

"No way," he muttered. Mr. Fin was Gabriel's grand-uncle. For years, Gabriel had believed he would inherit all of Mr. Fin's medical businesses since all his grandchildren had studied business, not medicine.

Gabriel furrowed his brow and demanded, "How? How did you do it?"

"I told you—this proves you did nothing for my sister," Nicklaus said with a knowing smile. He rubbed his palms together and spoke in a low voice.

Suddenly, three cars pulled into the hospital parking lot. A man in a black suit emerged from the middle vehicle, followed by several bodyguards. They approached Nicklaus.

"Mr. Nicklaus Henshaw, I apologize if this is inconvenient, but we need you to come with us," the man said.

"Who are you?" Nicklaus asked directly. He was beginning to reconsider Mr. Fin's kind gesture—now that Stella had divorced him, he had no place to stay and no shelter for his sister.

"I'm Mr. Fin's right-hand man. He requests your immediate presence at his home," the man explained.

Nicklaus was confused—he had just left Mr. Fin's house, and returning so soon seemed strange.

He turned to Gabriel, who was scowling. Gabriel couldn't contain himself any longer and approached the man angrily. "Timothy! What's the meaning of this? Why are you here, summoning a commoner to see the almighty Mr. Fin?"

It became clear to Nicklaus that this man was indeed Mr. Fin's right-hand man, given Gabriel's familiarity with him.

"Mr. Fin has ordered me to escort this young man, Young Master Gabriel. I'm sorry, but he is my boss, and I must obey his commands," Timothy replied, causing Gabriel to grit his teeth.

"Honey, I'm sure they have the wrong person. Once your grand-uncle sees this man, they'll send him back to the streets where he belongs," Stella said with a frown.

"Grand-uncle?" Nicklaus was stunned. He suddenly understood the connection—Gabriel was using his uncle's surname.

Gabriel clenched his fists and bit his lip before moving toward Rita. With fury on his face, he aimed to punch Nicklaus for no reason, but Nicklaus dodged.

"What the hell?" Nicklaus asked angrily.

Gabriel attempted another punch, but Nicklaus caught his hand before it could connect. Nicklaus twisted the arm slightly before releasing it, sending Gabriel tumbling to the ground.

"Young Master Gabriel, your grand-uncle won't be pleased with this behavior," Timothy said, then turned to Nicklaus.

"I apologize for any inconvenience, sir." Timothy paused and retrieved some files from his briefcase.

"An ownership agreement?" Nicklaus raised his eyebrows as he read the document's header.

Nicklaus opened his mouth to speak but instantly paused, thinking that this might bring shame to his family name. Mentioning his father's name over such a trivial matter seemed beneath his dignity."You don't deserve to know," Nicklaus said, causing the police officer to growl in anger before clenching his fist and throwing a punch at Nicklaus's face."You don't know what's good for you," the police officer barked.Nicklaus bit the corner of his lip and chuckled dryly before lifting his head to look at the officer. "I'll remember this assault and make sure you regret it."His words infuriated the officer even more, and he grabbed Nicklaus's collar and said angrily, "You have the nerve to speak disrespectfully? Don't worry, I'll break your spirit in this room and teach you how to beg for mercy."He punched Nicklaus's face again, so hard that Nicklaus could taste blood in his mouth."Look at you! Your body's so weak. What kind of petty thief are you?" The officer said, pushing Nicklaus

"You're more foolish than I thought. I wonder what lie you'll tell the police when they get here," Stella said after Gabriel ended his call with the police."You know, it's all your fault! No one would have involved the police if you had let us go without insisting we compensate you," Gabriel said, trying to provoke Nicklaus."Look how he's dressed in that torn shirt, riding in an expensive Lincoln. You're dressed like the beggar you are," Stella spat."What did they used to call you again... Oh yes! Nicklaus the loser. You should be living in a dumpster," Gabriel added, expressing his contempt.Nicklaus bit his lip, trying to control his anger, but he was reaching his limit. Just as he was about to react, police sirens caught their attention."It's time for you to face judgment, Nicklaus," Stella said smugly."Let's see who faces judgment," Nicklaus responded calmly."Thank goodness you're here, officer. That's the criminal right there—deal with him," Gabriel said, pointing to Nickla

Rita wasn't discharged that day. The hospital couldn't stop talking about Nicklaus. Chris and Nicklaus drove back to the villa in the Lincoln limousine when suddenly, Nicklaus remembered that today was Derek's birthday—his only friend from college."Damn, I almost forgot I have somewhere important to be.""Where is that?" Chris asked."A friend of mine is having a birthday party," Nicklaus informed him, causing Chris to nod."Young Master, could I get your phone number so I can call you if needed?" Chris asked, but Nicklaus had to share disappointing news."I don't have a phone," he informed him. Chris was stunned but immediately composed his expression."Actually, the iPhone company created a new model, and since our conglomerate bought a significant share with them, they gifted us some of their latest products," Chris informed him, causing Nicklaus to nod.The iPhone company was just one of many companies that Chris had bought shares in over the years using the conglomerate's name.

"I'm sorry, sir. I didn't know that bothered you," Chris said."You keep saying different things, and I don't even know anything about him," Nicklaus said while Chris bowed his head to apologize again."It's just funny how I thought my father was transparent. I thought it would be easy to see through him, but unfortunately, I was wrong," Nicklaus said.He was completely serious, and Chris could tell that Nicklaus still resented the fact that his father hadn't told him about this secret life.It was hard for Nicklaus to forget—he tried to push aside the fact that he'd been humiliated by people he was actually superior to. He had worked day and night, yet each paycheck was cut short while his father owned multimillion-dollar companies somewhere."You're all the same," Nicklaus said, quickening his pace before walking out. Chris didn't follow him. Instead, he decided to let him leave, believing he'd return, especially since his sister was still at the hospital.Nicklaus had no money for

The call was loud enough for Nicklaus to hear what the other person said."What's wrong?" Nicklaus asked with a frown."I think there's something wrong at the hospital," Nicklaus said, standing up while Chris did the same."Did they specify the kind of emergency?" Nicklaus inquired, but Chris shook his head."No, they didn't," Chris muttered as they exited the building and walked to the parking lot. They got into the car, and Chris drove straight to the hospital. Unlike before, no bodyguards escorted them. The drive was quiet until they reached the hospital. Nicklaus hurried out of the car. They rushed to the emergency room and noticed doctors rushing in and out of the room.Chris turned to look at Nicklaus, and their eyes met. They approached the room and immediately entered. Nicklaus took a face mask from the side of the room."This is getting out of hand," one doctor in the room said."What do you mean?" "Is this the car here to pick us up?" Nicklaus asked."Yes, sir," Chris replied, causing Nicklaus's eyes to widen in shock. The cost of a Lincoln limousine was astronomical—Nicklaus was certain that even if he worked day and night for the rest of his life, he wouldn't be able to save enough money for such a vehicle."You don't like it, sir? I can have the driver change it to something you're more comfortable with," Chris offered, causing Nicklaus to chuckle softly. He was stunned—this was his first time getting this close to such an expensive car.He got into the vehicle and was immediately awed by the luxurious interior. Chris entered as well, maintaining a serious expression while reviewing his iPad.Nicklaus was certain everything on the iPad was work-related, as Chris didn't seem like the social type."Please, sir, you should review all these documents," Chris said, picking up a white file beside him.As Nicklaus took the file, he kept his eyes fixed on it.
