Rita wasn't discharged that day. The hospital couldn't stop talking about Nicklaus. Chris and Nicklaus drove back to the villa in the Lincoln limousine when suddenly, Nicklaus remembered that today was Derek's birthday—his only friend from college.

"Damn, I almost forgot I have somewhere important to be."

"Where is that?" Chris asked.

"A friend of mine is having a birthday party," Nicklaus informed him, causing Chris to nod.

"Young Master, could I get your phone number so I can call you if needed?" Chris asked, but Nicklaus had to share disappointing news.

"I don't have a phone," he informed him. Chris was stunned but immediately composed his expression.

"Actually, the iPhone company created a new model, and since our conglomerate bought a significant share with them, they gifted us some of their latest products," Chris informed him, causing Nicklaus to nod.

The iPhone company was just one of many companies that Chris had bought shares in over the years using the conglomerate's name. He had been managing everything well, and Nicklaus was shocked to know that people like Chris—so trustworthy—still existed.

"Okay," he said quietly, waiting for Chris to continue.

"Just give me a minute, please. Let me get the phone from my study," Chris informed him, and Nicklaus nodded, giving him permission to leave.

Chris hurried to his room and returned with the latest iPhone 16. "You can have this, sir. A number is already registered, and I have it saved," Chris said. Nicklaus took the phone and keys, waved to Chris, and left the house, getting into the car.

Nicklaus couldn't stop wondering how all these things had happened so suddenly. For a moment, he could swear he was dreaming.

He was driving when his phone rang. The number was saved as "Christopher." Nicklaus immediately knew it was his father's most trusted man.

He answered and said, "Hello?"

"Young Master, could you turn on the phone's location and share it with me?" Chris asked.

"Yes, I can, but why?" Nicklaus asked.

"For security purposes, sir," he informed him. Having no intention to argue, Nicklaus said, "Okay, no problem," and ended the call.

As he approached the pub, he turned to park when suddenly his car collided with another vehicle. The back was damaged.

Nicklaus wasn't at fault, so the other party quickly got out to apologize.

"Hello, I'm sorry for hitting your car. It was a mistake," the person said, tapping on Nicklaus's window for him to roll it down.

Nicklaus kept his phone on his thigh after ending a call with the insurance company before rolling down his window.

When Nicklaus turned to look at the person who hit his car, he was stunned to see it was Gabriel.

"Honey, what's happening?" Stella said as she stepped out of Gabriel's car to see if the car owner was threatening to press charges. The Lincoln limousine was very expensive, and she could only imagine how much it would cost to fix the damage they'd caused to the back.

"Oh, good gracious!" she exclaimed when she saw Nicklaus sitting inside the car as the driver.

"Nicklaus?" she called his name to confirm she wasn't seeing things.

"Stella," Nicklaus said in a low voice.

"You stole this car. We need to call the police, Gabriel. There's no way this man could afford a motorcycle, let alone a Lincoln," she said, turning to Gabriel. Nicklaus chuckled softly at her reaction.

"This is one of my cars, Stella. If you call the police, you'll only be making a fool of yourself," Nicklaus said, causing Stella to scoff.

"Please, did you look in a mirror before saying this nonsense? You look disheveled—there are holes in your shirt."

"Come to think of it, is this how you park a car? You're even less impressive than a parking attendant," she added.

"Honey, let's leave. He wouldn't be able to press charges anyway because I'm sure he stole this car," Gabriel said, pulling Stella's hand.

"Hey! Both of you, where do you think you're going?" Nicklaus asked sternly. He couldn't stand being humiliated again.

"What is it?" Gabriel asked with a frown.

"You damaged the back of my car, Gabriel. Do you know how much that will cost? I demand compensation," Nicklaus said, causing Stella and Gabriel to burst into laughter.

"You'd have to be insane to think we'd pay a car thief compensation for damaging a stolen vehicle," Stella sneered.

"I won't call the cops now because we were once married—better leave before I change my mind," she added, causing Nicklaus to narrow his eyes.

"I'm being generous by repeating myself—you need to compensate me for the damage!" he insisted.

"Are you deaf? Or do you think I won't call the police on you right now for driving a car that doesn't belong to you—a car you stole?" Gabriel paused and took his phone out.

"You must have lost your mind. I'm calling the police right now," Gabriel added, dialing 911.

"Hello, I'm here to report a stolen car. The thief is also a bad driver—while trying to park, he hit my car, and now the stolen vehicle is scratched," Gabriel explained with a sly smile.

Nicklaus opened his mouth to speak but instantly paused, thinking that this might bring shame to his family name. Mentioning his father's name over such a trivial matter seemed beneath his dignity."You don't deserve to know," Nicklaus said, causing the police officer to growl in anger before clenching his fist and throwing a punch at Nicklaus's face."You don't know what's good for you," the police officer barked.Nicklaus bit the corner of his lip and chuckled dryly before lifting his head to look at the officer. "I'll remember this assault and make sure you regret it."His words infuriated the officer even more, and he grabbed Nicklaus's collar and said angrily, "You have the nerve to speak disrespectfully? Don't worry, I'll break your spirit in this room and teach you how to beg for mercy."He punched Nicklaus's face again, so hard that Nicklaus could taste blood in his mouth."Look at you! Your body's so weak. What kind of petty thief are you?" The officer said, pushing Nicklaus

"You're more foolish than I thought. I wonder what lie you'll tell the police when they get here," Stella said after Gabriel ended his call with the police."You know, it's all your fault! No one would have involved the police if you had let us go without insisting we compensate you," Gabriel said, trying to provoke Nicklaus."Look how he's dressed in that torn shirt, riding in an expensive Lincoln. You're dressed like the beggar you are," Stella spat."What did they used to call you again... Oh yes! Nicklaus the loser. You should be living in a dumpster," Gabriel added, expressing his contempt.Nicklaus bit his lip, trying to control his anger, but he was reaching his limit. Just as he was about to react, police sirens caught their attention."It's time for you to face judgment, Nicklaus," Stella said smugly."Let's see who faces judgment," Nicklaus responded calmly."Thank goodness you're here, officer. That's the criminal right there—deal with him," Gabriel said, pointing to Nickla

"I'm sorry, sir. I didn't know that bothered you," Chris said."You keep saying different things, and I don't even know anything about him," Nicklaus said while Chris bowed his head to apologize again."It's just funny how I thought my father was transparent. I thought it would be easy to see through him, but unfortunately, I was wrong," Nicklaus said.He was completely serious, and Chris could tell that Nicklaus still resented the fact that his father hadn't told him about this secret life.It was hard for Nicklaus to forget—he tried to push aside the fact that he'd been humiliated by people he was actually superior to. He had worked day and night, yet each paycheck was cut short while his father owned multimillion-dollar companies somewhere."You're all the same," Nicklaus said, quickening his pace before walking out. Chris didn't follow him. Instead, he decided to let him leave, believing he'd return, especially since his sister was still at the hospital.Nicklaus had no money for

The call was loud enough for Nicklaus to hear what the other person said."What's wrong?" Nicklaus asked with a frown."I think there's something wrong at the hospital," Nicklaus said, standing up while Chris did the same."Did they specify the kind of emergency?" Nicklaus inquired, but Chris shook his head."No, they didn't," Chris muttered as they exited the building and walked to the parking lot. They got into the car, and Chris drove straight to the hospital. Unlike before, no bodyguards escorted them. The drive was quiet until they reached the hospital. Nicklaus hurried out of the car. They rushed to the emergency room and noticed doctors rushing in and out of the room.Chris turned to look at Nicklaus, and their eyes met. They approached the room and immediately entered. Nicklaus took a face mask from the side of the room."This is getting out of hand," one doctor in the room said."What do you mean?" Chris asked, gesturing for one of the nurses to move aside. Nicklaus had a cle

"Is this the car here to pick us up?" Nicklaus asked."Yes, sir," Chris replied, causing Nicklaus's eyes to widen in shock. The cost of a Lincoln limousine was astronomical—Nicklaus was certain that even if he worked day and night for the rest of his life, he wouldn't be able to save enough money for such a vehicle."You don't like it, sir? I can have the driver change it to something you're more comfortable with," Chris offered, causing Nicklaus to chuckle softly. He was stunned—this was his first time getting this close to such an expensive car.He got into the vehicle and was immediately awed by the luxurious interior. Chris entered as well, maintaining a serious expression while reviewing his iPad.Nicklaus was certain everything on the iPad was work-related, as Chris didn't seem like the social type."Please, sir, you should review all these documents," Chris said, picking up a white file beside him.As Nicklaus took the file, he kept his eyes fixed on it.
