The Rise Of The Betrayed Heir

Chapter four

The taste of being himself again was quite thrilling and unlike what Adrian had expected it. He wasn't as sad as he'd thought over losing the bet with his grandfather. Regina wasn't worth the pain, since she was bent on wealth and status, she didn't deserve his love. 

 At once, he decided it was time for him to call his butler, the famous Sir Alfred of his family, and tell him about grandfather Gerald's decision to reinstate him as heir. "Hello, young master?" The butler said just as he answered the phone.  

"How did you know?" Adrian couldn't help but ask and the man chuckled over the phone. "News about the Gerald family spreads fast," he replied.

 "I will need my cards back," he said but was less surprised to be informed that his cards were available already. Grandfather had planned everything out and was ready for him to lose.  

"I'm heading to you right now, young master," Alfred replied and the call ended.  

Right outside the office where he stood, the butler arrived in a silver Chevrolet and stepped out of the car, bowing as he did. "Welcome back to the family, young master," Alfred said respectfully.  

Adrian nodded at him and took the gold and black card from him. "Is it still frozen?" He asked. 

Alfred shook his head with a small smile, "No, master, the old master had it unlocked once we heard the news of your pending divorce," he replied.  

Adrian shook his head, amused at his grandfather's pettiness. "He did keep tabs on me, didn't he?" He chuckled.  

"The old master had to make sure everything was ready for your return, he never believed in the Lawson girl," the butler stated respectfully. 

  Adrian snickered, it appeared that everyone saw Regina for the snake that she was except him. "That will be all, Alfred," he replied.  

Alfred nodded and gestured at the car, "Master, we have cleared out your room at the manor, your things are ready too," he said. 

 Adrian looked at the car and then back at his wife's office building. He couldn't leave just yet. Regina had a big plan to not only get him divorced but also ruin his name. He wasn't going to allow her to do that. Now he had everything to get back at Regina and bring her the shame she deserved. "You can go on, I will not be coming to the manor just yet," he replied.  

Alfred nodded and asked if there was anything that he wanted. "What can I do for you, young master?" He asked dutifully.  

"The cards are enough. With this, I have access to all my wealth and I can hire the best of men to uncover Regina's dirty deeds," he replied.  

"Is there anything you need at all, young master, I'm ready to provide," Alfred promised solemnly and with that got into the vehicle and zoomed off.  

Feeling the weight of the card in his hands, Adrian felt his former self, his real self resurface. "I will make Regina regret the day she picked me as a pawn in her silly little game," he said coldly.  

All he had to do was place a call to one of his loyal men. Although Adrian was away from his family for such a long time, he still had subordinates who worked for him. "Hello, Samuel," he said and at once, the man recognized his master's voice."Young master?" He replied quite excitedly, "I never believed the rumours were true."  

"My soon-to-be ex-wife has decided to ruin my reputation, I am going to show the world who she is," he stated with a hard tone. 

 "What do you want, master? Say the word and consider it done," Samuel replied confidently. 

"I need you to extract the surveillance footage from the parking lot of the mall close to my wife's former apartment as well as the footage from the house itself, it should have a video of Regina and her boytoy getting into the car," he instructed. "I don't care how much it costs to get it done, make sure you get the video."  

He trusted Samuel, he was quite capable of fishing out any information that he needed, and he had never disappointed him in the past. "I'll do that at once, master," Samuel replied eagerly and Adrian ended the call.  

The next day, Adrian received a court notice from his wife to finalise the divorce. She was eager to get their marriage over with and move on with her life. He arrived at the entrance of the court and could already see people hovering around the vicinity. Reports of the local tabloids and magazines are all waiting to get a scoop from the impeccable Miss Regina who was mistreated by her husband. Right there, on the porch of the court, Adrian received a call from his subordinate, "Boss, I have all the evidence, I've sent it to you as we speak," he reported. 

Adrian smiled as she ended the call and quickly opened the link that was sent to him. Right, there was a video of his wife not only walking into the car but they had been sucking faces as they did. He watched as the car rocked and even his arrival, confrontation and departure were clear on the video footage.

There was no way she was going to lie her way out of the video, not with her hair disheveled and her dress a mess as she got out. "This is all I need to crush you for good, Regina," he said to himself with a cruel smile on his face as he called his subordinate again. 

"Is it everything you wanted in place, master?" Samuel asked.  

Adrian smirked as he replied, "Everything is perfect. Wait for my instruction and once I give you the clue, go ahead and post this video on all social media platforms. There will be nowhere for the perfect Miss Regina to hide," he said and chuckled.
