John’s grandfather sat stiffly in his leather armchair, staring at the darkened screen of his phone. The silence in the study was suffocating. He had tried calling John repeatedly, but every attempt ended with the same dead tone—switched off. His fingers drummed against the desk as if trying to beat away the creeping dread.

“Find him,” he said finally, his voice low but trembling. “If he is too ashamed to come home, then send someone to bring him. Track his car. Bring him back to me.”

The chief butler bowed his head respectfully. “Yes, sir.”

Without another word, he left the study and made his way to the IT control room. The long corridor seemed colder than usual, and his polished shoes echoed sharply against the marble floor.

Inside the IT room, a handful of technicians were already busy monitoring various feeds and logs. The chief butler’s arrival drew their attention immediately.
