'Yes, he was part of some robbers who robbed me some days ago at night. I know them. They collected my things, very important things. He must give them to me.’ he said looking firm.

'Do you know what you are saying? Or you are out of your senses?’ Jones asked angrily.

‘Please calm down, Sir. Our security we handle it.’ said the director.

The head of the security men walked to them. 'Mr Man, are you sure of what you are saying? And what is your evidence?’

He was shaking slightly, ‘Yes, this man and…and…’ he tried to move closer to them but staggered and stumbled. As he fell flat on his belly, he shouted, ‘And you…and you. All of you were there, sons of a bitch! Gimme my things!’ They rushed towards him. They were so surprised to smell alcohol and see cocaine on his nose.

‘Shit! This wretched creature is a drug addict.’ The security man spat with disgust.

'Kah kah kah!’ Everybody burst into laughter.

'We are sorry for all the unpleasant things we have caused you to experience. The matter is clear now. You are good to go now. We would love to see you again.’ Though Jones was touched by what happened, he kept a cool face and he was driven away.

Jones was taking a walk around his room at King's Hotel. He had showered and put on the black suit with the red tie for him. He stood in front of a mirror hung close to a window. He was looking at himself in the mirror and gazing at the city through the window interchangeably. He looked at the driver who sat on the sofa set in the room. ‘If you have anything to do, you are free to go.’

'Okay, Sir…but I am assigned to you for a month. The happiest of it is that both your hotel fees and mine have been paid. Even my room is next to the right.’ he said childishly. Jones walked to him and stood by his side.

'Hm! Your company has rebuilt its image in my heart. Anyway, go and refresh yourself, and return whenever you wish. Mind you, you won't stay with me for a month; I will set you free when I get my mansion and car ready.’ The mark of wealth now showed in whatever he said or did.

'Okay, Sir.’

'Take these.’ he gave him two parcels of dollars out of those placed on the glass table in the middle of the room.

'Thanks so much, Sir.' The driver left with gratitude. Jones smiled and sighed. He took his phone and dialed a number.

'Hello, this is Giant Motors Company. Is this Mr. Mackin Jones?’ said a tiny voice from the receiver, it was a lady.

'Yes, it is me.’

‘We have respectfully confirmed your orders and the payment of the latest Bentley, Royce Rolls, and Honda Accord cars. We will deliver them within 3 hours.

'Okay. Note; failure to meet up with the time will result in terminating the orders.’ Jones said with a commanding voice.

'Okay, Sir. We won't disappoint you.' they hung up the call.

As soon as he was done with the call, somebody knocked on his door. He thought it was the driver. He fumed, walking to the door and opening it, ‘I said you should go and refresh yourself.’ to his surprise, he met a smart-looking guy at the entrance.

'Good afternoon, Sir. I'm here to tell you that your mansions are ready. You just have to sign these papers and that is the final stage.’

'Okay, come in.’ They moved in together. He signed the papers and returned them to the guy.

'I will pack it in two days.’

‘That is not an issue, Sir. The maids, security men, and bouncers are awaiting the arrival of the king to the kingdom. Even if you are ready today, you are good to go.’ he smiled.

Jones was happy for the flatter, 'No problems. Take this!’ he threw him a parcel of dollars. The guy caught it as a lion caught its prey, and said eagerly. 'Thanks so much, Sir.’ The guy departed.

'You are welcome.’ he settled down.

'It is time to show Lana and her parents.’ He was talking to himself. He called the driver and sent him to Lana's house to confirm whether they were still there or not.

Jones shook his head in pity when the driver gave him feedback on what had happened to Lana.

'I learned that she had left the house with her family after she was harassed, and they were duped by a guy who had run away. Then, someone gave me an address. Though I don't know how accurate it seems, I just took it, maybe it will be useful for you.’ He gave the addresses to him. Jones checked the address and nodded his head, ‘Okay.’ He decided to explore.

Around 5 in the evening, he told the driver to take him to that address. He stopped the driver and alighted when it was about some meters from the house. He did it deliberately so that his wealth won't entice them. And to know whether they will feel remorse for their bad deeds and change. As he knocked on the door, he heard a horrible voice that shouted, ‘How do you get here, Son of a bitch? Who told you to come?’

Jones stopped and attempted to turn back. 'Where are you going?’ Lana's father came out, looking at him like a disgusting element. He was followed by his wife and Lana who stood behind them. They faced him like hungry lions.

‘Haven’t you been warned to stay away from our daughter? You are poor and useless.’ He said. Jones stood firmly and calmly before them without fear.

‘I may look useless because I walk my ass to your house, but that doesn't make you any more useful than me. And I know very well that forgiveness and forgetfulness make any human being useful. I know all you did, but I have forgiven you. I'm not here to beg you for anything. But it's my pleasure to let you know that I love your daughter, and I wish to end my life living with her.’ He paused and keen his sight on Lana. ‘I have more than what it takes to take care of you, Lana. I know you would have realized that what happened was a mistake. Let's continue with our love. I'm ready to give you whatever you desire.’

Kah kah kah

Lana’s mother laughed derogatorily. ‘Do I hear you say you have what it takes? You don't have shame for saying that. Even the suit on you is either given to you by someone or stolen, let alone feeding yourself. Whether you forgive anybody or not, we have dealt with you already. And we don't regret it. So, leave now with total respect.’

‘Lana, let's talk this over. I…’ Lana's mother interrupted him, ‘Ohhkay! I know you will prove stubborn.’ she left angrily.

Jones continued, ‘I love you, and I have let go of the past. This is our life; they have their future already, let's make our future happen together. I will take care of you and your parents.’

‘I believe you are not deaf, Jones. Just let anything about love go. If you think your love has been lost, go into the street to look for it. Stop feeding my parents with rubbish.’

He moved forward to Lana, but she hastened to him and pushed him violently. Instead of landing on his feet, the billionaire landed on his buttocks. Trying to avoid further disgrace and stand up, he felt some liquid with a horrible smell on himself. Lana's mother had rushed out and did that. ‘That is what you deserved.’ said Lana mockingly, and the rest joined.

He looked at himself with regret and embarrassment, ‘Why have I come to these heartless people again?’ that was the thought on his mind. He smiled at them abruptly and said, ‘I think you will have changed, but you have shown that you deserve no big mansions, luxurious cars, mercy, and nothing. That means the guy that duped you was right.’ He said and turned his way. They were shocked that Jones had known and could say that.

‘Watch out for me. Within a few days, you will know who the real Mackin Jones is. You will regret and suffer for all you had done to me, the Trillionaire heir.’ he finalized and left them.

‘You are being tracked, Jones! I don't know why I'm sending you; your family has learned that you are alive. I don't know how true it is but run for your life if you are. Someone from your family who ordered you killed some years ago because you will be the next heir of the family is not relenting. It is the time for you to be the heir now. But because I love you, I will advise you not to return because nothing awaits you except death. Failure to take my advice will lead to your fatal end! Be warned!!!’ Jones trembled when he saw the message on his phone.

‘What? Who is this? Who wants me killed?’ he queried with shock.

The city had an eerie calm, like the moment before a storm.Luis and Maria knew it well—it was the silence that came before the retaliation. Orlov hadn’t made a move yet, but they both felt it in the air. He was waiting, preparing, and biding his time to strike when they least expected it.Luis stood in front of the massive windows of the penthouse, the city sprawled beneath him like a glittering maze of power and corruption. His mind raced, going over the steps they’d taken to weaken Orlov, but something nagbed at him. They had hit him hard, taken out his warehouses, and disrupted his supply lines, but it didn’t feel like enough. Orlov was too smart, too calculated, to be brought down so easily.“We’ve got eyes on his remaining assets,” Maria said, stepping into the room, her tone clipped but focused. She held a tablet in her hand, showing a live feed from one of their surveillance teams.Luis glanced at her, his jaw tight. “Any movement?”Maria shook her head, frustration flashing i

The city was alive with whispers and murmurs of a new force rising in the shadows.Luis and Maria had thought they’d crushed Avernus, but in the days following their attack, it had become clear that their victory was only temporary. A larger force was at play, one more organised and dangerous than anything they had faced before.Luis sat at his desk in the penthouse, fingers drumming against the polished wood. The city sprawled out beneath him, a glittering beast that never slept. The calm after the storm always felt like a trap, and he could feel the tension in the air.Bones entered the room, his face grim. “We’ve got a name.”Luis looked up sharply, the tension in his jaw visible. “Who is it?”Bones tossed a file onto the desk. “Nikolai Orlov. He’s the one pulling the strings.”Maria, seated across from Luis, raised an eyebrow. The name wasn’t familiar, but the weight of it hung heavy in the air. She flipped open the file, scanning the details. “He’s Russian. Former military ties t

Luis leaned back in his chair, staring at the map laid out before him. The Westside was a web of power and influence, but Avernus was at the centre of it now. They had been patient, slowly building their empire in the shadows, but now they were emerging. And Luis knew they had to be stopped.“They’re moving fast,” Bones said, standing beside him. “Buying up properties, making connections. They’ve got political backing too. The kind that makes it hard to touch them.”Luis’s jaw tightened. Political connections meant trouble. It meant Avernus had protection, the kind that couldn’t be taken down with a bullet. Not easily.Maria entered the room, her eyes scanning the map. “We need leverage. Something that hits them where they can’t hide.”Luis nodded. “We need to make them vulnerable. Expose them for what they are.”Maria’s gaze was sharp, her mind already racing. “We hit their reputation. Politicians won’t back them if they’re too much of a liability.”Bones grunted in agreement. “And o

The night was cool, but the tension was sucking.Luis and Maria moved with precision, their steps silent as they approached the glass doors of the sleek office building. This was Avernus Holdings’ heart—their new stronghold on the Westside—and tonight, the Borsens were going to cut it out.Luis paused at the entrance, his hand resting lightly on the handle. “Let’s make this quick,” he muttered.Maria, standing beside him, smiled faintly. This was the part she lived for. “Quick. But not too easy.”Luis nodded, his pulse steady despite the danger looming ahead. They weren’t here to negotiate. They weren’t here to talk. They were here to send a message. He pushed the door open. The quiet hum of the building swallowed them as they slipped inside. No alarms. No guards in sight. Too quiet.Maria’s eyes scanned the lobby, her hand hovering over her gun. “Where is everyone?”Luis didn’t answer, but his jaw tightened. It felt wrong. His instincts screaming at him. Something was off.A faint so

The city was a living beast, always moving, and shifting. And now the Westside was stirring.“We’ve got a problem,” Maria’s voice cut through the night air. She stepped onto the balcony, her gaze sharp. “Bones just confirmed it. Avernus Holdings has been buying up properties, and making moves. Quietly, but quickly.”Luis didn’t move; his eyes were still fixed on the city below. “How many properties?”“Four, so far. They’re not just snatching up rea

But Luis and Maria knew better than to mistake calm for peace. Power in the city was always shifting—a fluid, dangerous force that could turn in an instant.Even as they celebrated their victory over Volkov, they were aware that the silence carried with it the weight of anticipation—the sense that something new was on the horizon.Luis sat in his penthouse office, the vast city sprawled out before him through the floor-to-ceiling windows.
