With that thought in mind, Joseph stepped out of his car and headed toward his office. Taking the elevator to the fifth floor, he walked down the hallway. As he turned a corner, a figure suddenly appeared, and they nearly collided.

Fortunately, Joseph had learned his lesson from that morning and managed to stop himself just in time, avoiding another mishap.

"Hey, Professor Wilson! What’s your deal? How is it you again? Are you doing this on purpose? Were you just standing here, waiting to bump into me?"

"Good thing I’m not holding water this time, or I’d have to go back and change again," a familiar, melodious voice said.

Joseph looked up and felt a pang of exasperation. It was none other than Mason Alvarez. What were the odds?

Mason stared at him, her expression filled with feigned annoyance. She couldn’t deny there was something strangely fateful about her interactions with this man. Even walking down the hallway, they somehow managed to run into each other.

“I guess that’s what they mean when they say, ‘Not even a fortune can buy willingness.’”Leonard Sanchez smiled faintly.“Exactly. And I heard from old Baker that he gets along well with other staff. That shows he knows how to deal with people.”Geoffrey Harris sighed with admiration.By now, the sky had darkened. After driving for over half an hour, Joseph finally arrived home. He parked the car and made his way toward the villa. From the kitchen came the clatter of pots and pans.Alice, wearing an apron, was cooking. Mason Alvarez was helping out—washing vegetables.“Seriously, Mason, are you utterly hopeless? You don’t even know how to prep vegetables? Why didn’t you remove the pale parts of the stems?”“And this pork—why did you cut it into perfectly square blocks? It looks like bricks!”“And these green beans! What the hell is this? You only trimmed the ends? They’re going to be stringy as hell when we eat them.”Alice grumbled while stir-frying greens.“Why remove the pale parts

“Alright,” Kelly murmured.“It’s been a long time since I’ve actually felt hungry. And... today, I want some meat. Could we ask Mom to mince some into the porridge?” she asked, almost sheepishly.“Of course we can. Actually, Professor Wilson insisted that your diet must include meat every day.”“I won’t keep chatting—I’ll get to it now.” Brady smiled.“Alright,” Kelly replied with a contented smile—genuine and heartfelt. After so many years of despair, today she had finally glimpsed hope.Just then, Jacqueline entered the room and came to the bedside to talk to her. Seeing the little girl made Kelly’s smile even warmer.Though Jacqueline wasn’t her biological daughter, Kelly had risked everything to pull her from her dark past.To Kelly, Jacqueline was her own flesh and blood. Their bond was as pure and unbreakable as any mother and child.—After leaving the Rogers household, Joseph drove home.Meanwhile, Lindsay Anderson rode back with Philip and Richard Anderson.Richard was at

“Later, the pharmacy owner, his wife, and his father all fell ill. At that point, only my master still had medicine.”“I still remember the three of them kneeling before him, begging for help. But he didn’t flinch.”“We watched them die—struggling, gasping for breath. When it was over, my master set fire to their bodies and the pharmacy.”“During the cremation, he tossed two full boxes of medicine into the flames.”“He said, ‘Those were never just medicine—they were conscience. And since they lived without it, I’ll burn it for them in death.’”As Joseph finished recounting the tale, he also completed the first prescription. The room fell into stunned silence, many drawing in a sharp breath. From Joseph’s words, they could sense the gravity and resolve of his master—a healer with the heart of a saint and the will of a warrior.“Mr. Rogers, this prescription is for soaking Kelly’s feet. Please discard the previous one I gave you.”“This formula differs greatly in composition, though the

As he spoke, Joseph began removing the silver needles from Kelly’s body, one by one, handling each with utmost care.He had to be mindful of both the patient’s condition and the delicate craftsmanship of the needles themselves—especially since these belonged to Philip Anderson. Damaging one would be a debt he couldn’t afford to repay.“Don’t worry, Professor Wilson. I’ve got it covered,” Brady responded with a smile and a nod.By the time they finished speaking, Joseph had already withdrawn the final needle. At that moment, Kelly’s eyelashes fluttered. Slowly, her eyes opened, weary but lucid.“Thank you, Professor Wilson,” she whispered, her gaze locking onto Joseph the moment her vision cleared.“You were incredible, Kelly. You made it through,” Joseph said with a smile. “There are still two treatment sessions ahead. They won’t be painless, but compared to this one, they’ll feel much more manageable.”“I’m not afraid of pain anymore,” Kelly replied, her voice faint but resolute

At that moment, Jacqueline, who had been peeking through the door, burst into the room. Her chubby little hands clutched Kelly’s trembling one and pressed it against her soft cheek. She was trying, in her own innocent way, to comfort her mother. To take away some of that unbearable pain. She kept saying she wouldn’t cry, but tears were already falling freely down her plump cheeks. She wanted so badly to be strong—but in this moment, she simply couldn’t.With the final needle in place, Joseph finally exhaled in relief. The procedure had been intense. But the greatest challenge wasn’t the technique—it was whether or not the patient could endure such torment.Seeing Kelly gradually calming down, Joseph’s own heart began to settle. She had survived the worst of it.“Your Mommy Kelly is going to be okay. She'll only get better from now on. Don’t cry anymore, sweetheart.”Joseph gently stroked Jacqueline’s head in reassurance. But Jacqueline, consumed by worry, clung tightly to her mother’s

"Thank you, Mr. Wilson," Lindsay said softly, nodding. Her eyes lingered on him, quietly mesmerized.Indeed, a man immersed in his craft was always the most captivating—this moment proved it true.Joseph said nothing more. He continued for another half an hour, carefully inserting needle after needle until most of the box had been used.Oddly, none of the needles were placed in Kelly’s legs. This was clearly just the first phase."This is the initial round of acupuncture, aimed at reducing pain during the upcoming treatment.""Kelly, even with this preemptive measure, the pain you're about to experience will be intense.""I hope you're mentally prepared," he said, meeting her gaze."Thank you for the warning, Mr. Wilson," Kelly replied with a nod.Inwardly, she was moved. Joseph, despite his youth, handled himself like a seasoned physician with decades of experience. He not only treated the body but cared for the patient’s mindset—a subtlety even many veteran doctors lacked."Treatin
