Chapter 13 - Award Ceremony II

Raymond Campbell sat in his office, reading the latest entertainment news. Ever since he was asked to go on a blind date with Claudia, he had found himself getting more and more interested in the entertainment industry. He had been on blind dates before but he has never been so excited about going on one until he was asked to meet Claudia. He had already thought about how everything was going to go in his head, too bad all of his thoughts were one sided. Claudia had completely ignored him. At first he was angry. He has never been treated that way in his entire life! Even the daughters of those CEOs all tried to suck up to him.

After the initial annoyance weared off, he started to think that Claudia was actually a really interesting woman. He wanted to get to know her more. He was thinking about how he was going to do that when he saw this news. She is dating RichardThompson? How...how did this even happen? They all said that she was single, his father, even her mother who set up the date, they said that she was still single.

So how come she is dating this person? He looked at where her car was parked in the picture. It was just outside the restaurant where he had met her. So, she met her "boyfriend" after blowing up thier blind date? Is this the reason why she rejected him like that? Is this the reason why she was so rude to him? Raymond chuckled. He could feel himself starting to get quite competitive. Why can she be with that person and she treats him like he is nothing? What the hell is going on in the head of that woman? Does she really look down on him so much?

Everyone in thier circle knew about RichardThompson. He has to be the most useless CEO around them! His company, Helian Entertainment, was actually one of the biggest entertainment companies around, but Richardhas never done anything in contribution to that. All that he ever does is play around with girls and waste the money that other people has earned for him. So how can Claudia be with that man and she can't be with him? Raymond pressed a small button in his office and his secretary walked into his office.

"We received an invitation for some award ceremony right?" He asked.

The secretary nodded.

Alright. Make preparations. I'm going to go" Raymond said.

Marisa was with with her friend Rita. The both of them were at a bar drinking. She had just broken up with Ryder. She did not want to be sad because of a jerk like him so she had come out to drink, to get it out of her system. After all, she knew that he was just playing with her from the beginning anyway. She did not know what she was expecting from her. It was just that....for the few weeks that they were together, he had treated her really well that Marisa ended up getting carried away. She had actually started to think that something might just happen between them.

But in the end, it turned out that it was all in her end. Nothing was going to happen between them ever. He had just been playing with her and now that he was done with her he just dumped her like the both of them had never even known each other before. She got an expensive car from him in the end but still, she was a woman, a woman who had feelings, feelings that could get hurt. It was just that she ended up wasting her feelings on the wrong person this time. She could see that now. Marisa told herself that she wasn't going to be sad but she really could not help herself.

Rita looked at her friend. She could see how sad she was. She shook her head. She really wanted to comfort Marisa but she just did not know what to say to her. She already told her from the beginning. If she is going to get into a relationship with that man then she should guard her heart. She absolutely definitely cannot fall for a man like him but from the look of things, she had ignored her warning. She really actually did end up falling for him. And now look. He had dumped her like the both of them never had anything to do with each other. She is now acting all pitiful trying to drink herself away.

"Can you please stop this pitiful act Marisa? It wasn't as if you did not know how this was going to end. That man would never really be serious with you, it's something that you should have figured out for yourself since a long time ago. And besides, didn't you get that really expensive car from him? Why do you need to bother yourself with that jerk? Just move on and find yourself another man" Rita said. As far as she was concerned, it was a fling, a fling that Marisa benefited from a lot.

Marisa looked at Rita. She would never understand her. She would never understand how she was feeling right now. It is quite easy for her to tell her to move on. She doesn't understand the pain that she is going through right now. She thought that she was going to be okay since she already knew that he was playing with her from the beginning but it turned out that she had under estimated the feelings that she had for him. She was sad, really sad. "It's easy for you to say that. It's easy for you to tell me to move on so easily. Do you think that all my feelings are just going to fade away because I got that car?" Marisa asked. She was so really sad.

Rita sighed. "But he already broke up with you. It's not as if you can go back to him and try to make things work between the both of you again. In fact, there is nothing that you can try to make work. He didn't even like you to begin with. You just need to move on with your life. At least you were able to get something really valuable out of him. Besides, he already moved on, pretty fast" Rita said. She felt that she should tell Marisa the news that was going around right now. Maybe it would help her forget Ryder

Marisa looked at Rita. She could tell that she knew something that she was keeping from her. What did he mean by Richardalready moved on,? They broke up a few hours ago, how can he already have someone else so soon? "What is going on Rita? I feel that there is something that you are keeping from me. What is going on with Ryder? Did he already get another girlfriend? Is that it? Is that the reason he broke up with me so easily?" Marisa asked. She was starting to think that whoever that woman was, she must be the reason why Richardleft her.

Rita rolled her eyes. She was thinking now that ever since Marisa started to go out with that Ryder, her IQ had decreased a lot. Well, she was going to tell her what happened. Whatever she chose to do is her business. "Well, today, it was reported that Richardis going out with that popular actress Claudia Kingston. You know her right? She is one of the nominees for the best actress award this year. I don't know how true it is but Richardwas seen entering her car. He stayed there for some time before getting off. Now people are speculating that the both of them might have been seeing each other secretly" Rita said.

Now Marisa was convinced. It must be because of that actress! Richardmust have left her because of that actress! Suddenly, she did not want to give up on him since he says to break up, is she supposed to just agree to it then? What about the feelings that she has for him? What is she going to do about that? She is going to make sure that she gets her man back! Actress or not, that Claudia whatever doesn't have the right to do this to her. Rita turned to Marisa. "You've always wanted to go the award show right? Let's go together" she said.

"Look everyone. It's Claudia!"

"Claudia. Please look this way!"

"Your new drama just hit the box office and it's been getting a lot of positive responses? How do you feel?"

"You have been nominated for the best actress award this year. How do you feel? Are you sure that you can take the best actress award home this year?"

"Are you confident to get the award?"

"Claudia, please give me an autograph!"

"Claudia, look this way please! Can you give us an interview?"

"Claudia, Claudia........"

Immediately Claudia stepped out of her car, she was barraded by these reporters. Today is the day that the awards ceremony was about to take place. Claudia was really confident about it. If she did not get it then it must be because of the scandal that that CEO whatever had caused for her. And if that happens, well she woke let him go at all! She is going to make sure that she teaches him a lesson for daring to do something like that to her. Rose stood in front of her trying to make an opening for Claudia to go inside.

"Claudia...you haven't said anything about the rumours between you and the CEO of your agency, are the both of you really dating?" One reporter asked.

Claudia stopped to look at the female reporter who had asked her this question before turning to look at Rose. She thought that she had told her to tell them specifically not to ask her any questions concerning that person. What the hell is going on here right now?

What Claudia did not know was that that reporter had been hired by a certain someone to give her a hard time using the scandal.

"Why aren't you saying anything Claudia? Your private life has been kept away from the public for a really long time and so everyone is curious about this. Are you really going out with the CEO of your agency? Why was he seen getting out of your car?" The reporter asked again. She would never dare to do this before if she had not gotten such a big ammout of money to make things difficult for Claudia. She would probably be scolded by her boss when she gets back today but when she thought about the money that she had earned just from throwing a few words at Claudia, it was definitely going to be worth it.

Claudia looked at Rose, as if to tell her to take control of the situation. She definitely did not want to deal with it herself. What does this reporter think that she is doing? Rose immediately understood Claudia's gaze. She had made sure that no one would talk about this today, where did this woman come from? "Today is the award ceremony and Claudia is actually quite nervous right now. I hope that we can forget about her personal life for today and only talk about the award. Please continue to support our Claudia" Rose said. The two of them walked inside slowly.

The reporter smiled. Claudia was obviously angry just now. Her work here is complete.

The award started and the actress who were nominated were all called out one by one. Including Claudia. When she was called, the cheers from the fans backstage was deafening. It seems like the scandal did not do anything to her popularity. Claudia had already decided that if she gets the award, she is going to just ignore Ryder. After all, the entertainment circle has always been like this. As long as something now comes up, people are going to forget all about it.
