Chapter 10

Lena stared at Roman in shock.

She had thought she was trying to play tricks on her. After all, how could someone who worked as a garbage collector have such an amount at his disposal?

She took a second glance at the details of the transaction to make sure she wasn't mistaken.

The name and the time matched, everything was there but she still found it hard to believe.

Another question that bugged her was how easily he could transfer such an amount of money.

She knows the kind of process she has to undergo to transfer a fraction of the amount.

His decisiveness made her question why he had been putting up with the harassment from his colleagues all this while.

How come he never did anything to shut them up?

That aside, why would he work as a garbage collector if he could easily fork out twenty million dollars without flinching.

Lena couldn’t believe what was happening. She felt as if she was in a dream.

It was time to wake up.

Lena placed her hand on her thigh and pinched herself hard. She almost cried out in pain.

The pain made everything real.

This wasn’t a dream. Everything happening before her was indeed real.

She turned to face Roman, who was sitting calmly across from her.

She still couldn’t believe it.

“Roman, did you really transfer twenty million dollars from your account?”

Roman smiled when he saw the dumbstruck look on Lena’s beautiful face.

This was the first time Roman got to the adorable, stern CEO, blended together.

He said with a smile, “Do I need to deceive you for such a meagre amount of money?”

“No, that’s not what I meant …” Flustered, Lena was at a loss for words.

She didn’t know whether she should sit or stand in front of Roman.

After all, Roman’s position in the company had changed in an instant.

A moment ago, he was one of the company’s employees and her subordinate.

Right now, he was the largest shareholder of the company. He could even take the company from Gilbert, if time is not taken.

Lena repositioned her hands on the desk after a minute.

She felt that it was indecent to put her hands on her thighs, especially when she was wearing a gown.

Her gesture might cause Roman to misunderstand, thinking she was doing something inappropriate with her hands under the table.

Lena’s flushed.

She didn’t know what to do or say at this moment. Looking at Roman, Lena felt uneasy, she felt like she was sitting on pins and needles.

Roman chuckled when he saw how flustered Lena was. Shaking his head, he coughed and came to Lena’s rescue.

“Lena, don’t be bothered by what happened just now. Anyone in your position would have thought that I was speaking nonsense. Let’s just keep it in the past. In the future, we will continue working together as we have always been.”

When Lena heard Roman’s words, she was relieved. She felt so embarrassed by her actions earlier.

Roman had offered to finance her company and help her through the crisis. On the other hand, she had not shown gratitude and mocked Roman for boasting instead.

Lena was reminded of Gilbert who had tried to place her in trouble with his cunning tricks. She even considered him a close friend before.

No, what she thought about it seemed absurd now. Lena tried to regain her composure and chuckled awkwardly.

“I’m sorry, Mr Walter. I misunderstood your intentions just now.”

Roman shook his head. “Lena, there’s no need to be so polite. Although I hold the majority of the company’s shares, I have no interest in overseeing the company. Keep running the company and I will watch from the side, I won't interfere in your decision. You've brought the company to where it is now.”

He continued, “I’m only interested in the shares. And I believe you won't let me make a loss. My twenty million dollars is in your hand, don't make me regret my decision!”

Lena was finally relieved that the person who was the largest shareholder with the total holdings amounting to eighty five percent was him. She had always had full control over the company now through him, she feared losing control over the company. Gilbert’s plan was gone.

If Roman did not interfere in the running and management of the company, Lena had the confidence to return Roman’s investment through dividends within two to three years.

When she thought of how Roman helped her settle the company’s crisis, Lena felt a heavy burden lifted off her shoulders.

An hour ago, she was crying in her office over the lack of twenty million dollars in funds. Who could have expected that twenty million dollars would appear out of thin air?

After Lena came to her senses, her energy was renewed.

She gazed at Roman’s face, who had become her savior. The more she looked at him, the more she liked what she saw.

Lena wished she could pin Roman to the table and give him a passionate kiss.

She felt incredibly lucky to have encountered Roman, who was willing to help her.

She couldn't help imagining what would have happened without his help.

Lena placed two copies of the agreements on her desk and quickly stamped them with her company’s seal.

She handed a copy to Roman politely.

When Lena went over her copy of the agreement again, her heart raced and she flushed.

She noticed the supplementary term she had added to the bottom of the agreement.

Roman Walter transferred an investment of twenty million dollars to the company’s account.

“I, Lena Henderson, am willing to be his woman. I will bear the consequences with no regrets.” She said within her.

Lena had added this supplementary term earlier when she thought that Roman was showing off in front of her.

Out of anger, she typed in the agreement. But now, twenty million dollars were fully deposited into the company’s account.

Both of them had signed the agreement and it was stamped with the company’s seal.

Theoretically, the agreement was valid and had taken effect. In that case, was she going to be Roman’s woman?

Lena blushed at the thought of Roman using this agreement to coerce her into doing crazy things.

When she imagined him undressing her and having sex with her, her face turned crimson.

Lena immediately regretted her impulsiveness. How could she add such an embarrassing clause to the agreement?

Now that it had come to this, she basically shot herself in the foot.

Blushing, Lena read the supplementary term in the agreement and turned to Roman with an awkward expression.

There was a hint of bashfulness in her attractive features.

“Roman…”

Roman was flipping through the agreement as well.

When he heard Lena’s voice, he looked up. “What’s wrong, Lena?”

Her rosy cheeks became even redder at his question.

She stammered, “Regarding the supplementary term I added to the agreement, can we not….”

At this point, Lena’s mind was in a jumbled mess.

Stuttering, she tripped over her words in nervousness.

Roman turned to the last page of the agreement and read the supplementary term with a smile.

“Lena, are you talking about the final term in the agreement?”

Lena nodded quickly. “Yes, that’s the one.”

Roman nodded and a mischievous smile appeared on his face.

He said, “Lena, there’s no need to rush. We have a lot of time. Didn’t the agreement say that you’re my woman from now on? We don’t have to do it right now. Tonight would be fine.”

Lena’s face went pale.

What did he mean by that?

The way he said it made it seem as if she was the one eager to sleep with him.

“No, you’ve misunderstood. I mean, is it possible if we avoid the supplementary term……”

Before Lena could finish, Roman stood up and walked over to her.

He sized her up slowly from head to toe.

He stared at Lena's beautiful face and sexy figure.

Roman bent down and whispered in Lena’s ear, “Lena, you’re truly a beauty.” He breathed in.

“Every part of you seems to be calling out to me. The sight of this gown wrapping tightly against your breast makes me wonder how it would feel to have them in my arms.” His voice cascaded over her warmly. A curve of the lips and she was blushing red.

“I want to feel their warmth in my arms, to know how soft it can be.”

His warm breath brushed against her sensitive ears.

He sent blood rushing toward Lena's face. Her face was dyed red in a matter of seconds. She was so shy that she wanted to run away and hide where no one could see her.

Lena also felt humiliated.

She had thought that Roman was an upright man and would not take advantage of a woman. She didn’t expect him to be so shameless.

He even dared to whisper such seductive words in her ear to tease her.

Lena found it hard to swallow even though she liked this at the start.

She reached out to push Roman away from her. “Roman, you…”

Lena planned to create some distance between them.

Before she could finish her talking, Roman kissed her soft and succulent lips.

Her first kiss!

Just like that Lena lost her first kiss.

Lena struggled to push Roman away, but he deepened the kiss leaving her weak to the bones.

The feeling of their tongue intertwining felt magical. “You suggested it and signed it, you shouldn't regret it, or think I'll see you as a slut?”

Her thoughts.

“No!” Roman added. Her mind relaxed.

Lena closed her eyes, enjoying her kiss with Roman.

Calloway rolled his eyes on them after they turned away. He passed by, giving the appropriate greeting to them but neither of them replied. Roman turned, his hand reaching out, his heart beating faster as the world around him started to shift. The glass walls of Vault 7 shimmered. The tree's roots seemed to stretch towards them, like tendrils, searching for something.“We need to respond,” he said slowly, his voice thick with uncertainty. But what was there to respond to? What choice did they have? To resist meant destruction, but to submit might mean everything changing. Too much.Cadence looked at him, her eyes wide, haunted. “What if we can’t shape this, Roman? What if it's already shaping us?”A chill ran through him at the thought. Could it be true? Could the Collowians, guided by the remnant of the Queen, be pushing the Romanite race into a new cycle? A new kind of existence? An evolution without limits.“Look at it,” Roman said, his voice hollow as the image pulsed again in his mind. “It’s not just the Collowians. It’s us, too. The tree grows and we grow with it. We become part of something larger.”Damians, still s

In the city of New Berlin, once a thriving haven for Romanite resistance, a young man named Roman crouched on a rooftop, his breath fogging in the cold night air. The sky was a swirl of dark green clouds, pulsing with soft Rivalite light. Far above, a Veyari platform blinked once—acknowledging his presence. He didn't blink back.Below him, the street was quiet. A Drokar patrol moved in calculated steps, heavy limbs thudding against broken pavement. Roman didn’t move. He had learned the rules.Never attract the attention of a Triarch.Never look into the eyes of a Zhurax emissary. You might see the sea’s memories and forget your own.If a Veyari speaks to you, do not answer unless you are prepared to fly or fall.Roman had broken all three rules. He wasn’t proud of it, but he was still alive.
