“Come buy! Freshly captured Crimson Flame Lion’s core! Only a thousand gold coins!” a man cried out.

A bronze cart stood beside him, with a teenage girl standing behind it.

“Come buy! Freshly captured Crimson Flame Lion’s core! Only a thousand gold coins!” The man cried out once more.

Just then, people began walking up to him.

“Crimson Flame Lion? Do you even know what you are saying?” A man in a white dao robe asked with a raised brow.

Moving past the gathering, Shen Wuyin’s carriage propelled toward Luo Yuyan’s Palace.

The palace was built entirely from fine wood, its polished surface gleaming beneath the light. Tall cherry trees surrounded it like silent guardians, their lush leaves adding to the palace’s natural beauty.

“Woah. This is so beautiful,” Qing muttered, her lips parted.

Their mother sat behind Shen Wuyin, resting her head on his shoulder.

Upon entering through the palace gates, a hundred men stood before them, their eyes locked forward on Luo Yuyan as he walked out of his meditation chamber. They dropped to their knees in unison, their fists pressed together above their chests.

“Sect Master Luo Yuyan.” Their voices rolled through the courtyard.

Shen Wuyin’s carriage pulled to a stop.

Looking past the men before him, Luo Yuyan stepped forward, his hands spread apart.

“Welcome, my friend,” he said, a gentle smile curving on his lips.

Shen Wuyin jumped out of the carriage with his mother in his arms. The carriage driver helped put down Mei and Qing.

With a single wave of Luo Yuyan’s hand, the men before him rose to their feet and stepped aside, making room for Shen Wuyin.

“Come. Come.” Luo Yuyan gestured.

Moving forward, Shen Wuyin’s gaze fell on a feminine figure among the men. Maintaining his stride, he looked further, sharpening his gaze.

Suddenly, a small smirk tugged at the corner of his lips.

It seems the ingrate is also here, he scoffed inwardly.

Luo Yuyan ushered him into a chamber and ordered treatment for Wang Jun to begin.

Immediately, ten women in green dao robes walked in with ceramic bowls in their hands.

Taking one look at Wang Jun, Luo Yuyan shook his head.

“The depletion has eaten deep into her,” he said.

Shen Wuyin nodded. His mother reached for his hand, refusing to let go.

A warm smile graced Luo Yuyan’s lips.

“But you don’t need to worry. I’ll do all I can to cure her,” he said.

With that, he began.

Everyone present stood aside, giving Luo Yuyan room. He rose to his feet and pulled off his outer robe. Two young ladies stepped in and took it, their gazes lowered to the ground as though beholding him without the robe was forbidden.

Suddenly, white light appeared beneath Luo Yuyan’s feet.

Towering above Wang Jun, he stretched his hands forth, mumbling a few words. Instantly, two white orbs materialized in the air, orbiting around Wang Jun.

The more they spun, the more thick red liquid seeped out of Wang Jun’s lips into the orbs. Her hands twitched slightly.

A piercing ache tore through her chest, and her fingers curled into her robe.

Shen Wuyin watched closely, not at her, but at Luo Yuyan.

What kind of technique was this? he thought, rummaging through his memories.

He found nothing.

He smacked his tongue against his teeth in frustration.

My memories are like crumbs. And those of Yun Li hold no monumental cultivation essence. Just a commoner’s life journey.

He pouted in his thoughts.

After a few minutes, the orbs dissolved into thin air.

Looking down at Wang Jun, Shen Wuyin’s eyes widened. Her skin radiated slightly. She was no longer pale. Her lips were now pink, no longer scaly. Her eyelids fluttered open, and she looked much stronger than before.

Luo Yuyan snapped his fingers. The women stepped forward and began attending to Wang Jun.

“Yun,” Wang Jun called out, her voice clearer now.

Shen Wuyin stepped forward and dropped to his knees beside her.

Cupping her cheeks, “How are you feeling now?” he asked, warmth flickering in his gaze.

She nodded her head softly.

“I feel a bit better. My bones don’t feel as weak as they used to. And my eyes... my vision is much clearer than before,” she responded, excitement filling her voice.

Putting on his robe, Luo Yuyan stood beside Shen Wuyin.

“I extracted a bit of the poison from her,” he said, his voice firm. “With the aid of the herbal treatment, she should recover in no time.”

Shen Wuyin rose to his feet and bowed his head.

“Thank you, Elder Luo Yuyan.” He folded his fists together before him.

Glee flickered in Luo Yuyan’s eyes.

“No need, my friend,” he said, patting Shen Wuyin’s shoulder.

Together, they left Wang Jun’s chamber and headed toward the courtyard.

As they walked, Luo Yuyan briefed Shen Wuyin about their history. Shen Wuyin listened keenly, as though every word mattered.

This sect is indeed a virtue to the mortal realm. The spiritual energy here is far higher than Ashen Sky. Pure and strangely familiar, he thought.

A few steps into the courtyard, the lady from earlier bowed before Luo Yuyan.

“Father, you called for me,” she said, her eyes lowered to the ground.

Shen Wuyin’s eyes widened slightly.

“Father?” he repeated under his breath.

“Yun Li, this is my daughter, Mo Yueli,” Luo Yuyan said to Shen Wuyin. “Mo Yueli, this is the man I told you about from the Ashen Sky clan,” he said to Mo Yueli.

Mo Yueli gave a curt nod.

Her expression hardened as she turned to Shen Wuyin.

“Welcome to our sect,” she said bluntly.

Shen Wuyin dipped his head.

“Thank you.”

Luo Yuyan tapped Mo Yueli’s shoulder.

“Please show Yun Li around,” he ordered.

Mo Yueli nodded once and led the way.

Shen Wuyin followed behind her.

“If I had known you were the one my father spoke about, I would have just stayed in my chamber,” she said curtly.

Shen Wuyin tilted his head, amusement flickering in his gaze.

“Gratefulness is a virtue. But it seems that despite being raised in a sect like this, you still lack it,” he said.

Mo Yueli paused in her tracks and turned to Shen Wuyin.

“And who exactly do you think you are to speak to me about virtue?” she shot back.

Shen Wuyin watched her for a few seconds before speaking.

“I’m grateful enough.” He smirked and extended his hand, gesturing for her to move forward.

Mo Yueli’s eyes darkened, her fingers curling into fists at her sides.

“I let you win that night. Don’t think you did me any favours,” she hissed and moved ahead.

A small scoff escaped Shen Wuyin.

“You fantasize a lot, don’t you?”

She didn’t pause this time.

“The Moon Blade Meet is tonight. Let’s see if you make it out without a scratch or a few knives in your gut,” she said over her shoulder.

The Luoxia Sect is the second Eminent Sect in the South Region, he thought as he locked his gaze on Tan Su. Suddenly, Luo Yuyan’s expression hardened. “Then why is he here? Why wasn’t I informed about it?” Lin Xue lowered himself beside Luo Yuyan, his gaze locked on the ground as though it held the answer. “His mother is Xiao Lengyue, one of the merchants at the main market.” Luo Yuyan glared at him for a second, sending shivers down Lin Xue’s spine. “He is only here for a visit,” Lin Xue said quickly. “He asked to participate in the Meet, nothing more…” “To show off,” Luo Yuyan cut in sharply.
