This whole situation was offering Ryder more benefits than anything else.

The fact that a human soul had no limit meant he had no fear of adding an extra summoning beast.

Visiting the devil's plane as a whole was not common. As a chosen one of the black mark, if he was going to survive, it would be a waste not to enjoy the privilege to the fullest.

The beast in front of him, despite being so small, was still a devil beast. Its strength was on another level.

Since he was given the choice to allow this beast into his soul without any downside, he was more than happy to agree.

"Fine," Ryder nodded, trying to project calmness despite the fear etched in his eyes. "I agree to your terms. Bind with my soul and guide me to the Dracogon."

The devil-viper bunny's eyes gleamed with mischief. "Smart choice, human. I've been watching you since you arrived. Most marked ones run screaming when they see me."

"Run when they see you," Ryder reasoned. "Who would run from a rabbit?"

Suddenly, Luxy's entire body lit up in a deep black aura that distorted the air. Ryder's mark glowed while the rabbit was reduced to thick black smoke that slithered through the air toward his chest.

The moment the smoke made contact with his skin, Ryder felt as though someone had dipped him into boiling water. His back arched as an unwilling scream tore from his throat. It felt like his very soul was being cooked from the inside out.

Luxy entered Ryder’s body through the mark on his shoulder, but that was not where he would reside.

Moments after Luxy had entered Ryder, the burning sensation shifted from his skin to his chest from the inside, as if naked fire was being lit within it.

The pain from the forming mark was excruciating, and Ryder screamed for what felt like an eternity before Luxy finally merged with him.

Holding onto his head, Ryder muttered in a daze, "Tell me it was successful."

Suddenly, laughter resonated in his head, echoing in his brain despite the heavy headache he was experiencing.

"What if I said it wasn't successful?" Luxy spoke, jokingly.

"Then I would tell you to your face, straight up—you make the worst jokes."

Ryder groaned, slowly pushing himself back to his feet. His legs felt strange, like they belonged to someone else. "What did you do to me?"

"I improved you, obviously," Luxy replied, the smug tone in his voice unmistakable. "You humans are so fragile. I've shared with you all of my physical capabilities. Consider it a rental agreement."

It took a moment or two, but soon, Ryder was back in peak condition. In fact, he felt like a newborn.

"This feeling..." He raised his hand to stare at it. He couldn’t see any physical change, but deep down, he could feel it—something was different. His skin tingled with energy, his muscles felt tempered and ready, and his senses seemed sharper than ever before.

"I bet you finally noticed," Luxy started. "Your body has changed. Your speed, your senses, your strength—they have all been enhanced."

"Wait… where are you?" Ryder questioned as he glanced around. "I feel like I can hear your voice in my head!"

"Yes! I am in your head. It happens the moment you contract a familiar like me. We are in your mind; we can see everything you see, but we cannot act except when summoned," Luxy explained.

"In my head? Like, literally inside my brain?" Ryder panicked at the thought of a demonic rabbit hopping around his cerebellum, even though it didn't appear possible, given that Luxy was more than half the size of his head.

"Not literally, you blockhead," Luxy sighed. "It's more like a spiritual connection. I exist in a pocket dimension connected to your soul. Think of it as... a room in your soul that I'm renting."

Ryder listened quietly, absorbing all the information in silence, which calmed him down. Soon after, a thought suddenly crossed his mind.

"You said my strength increased, right?" he questioned.

"Yes," Luxy confirmed. "All your physical capabilities have increased to my level. In other words, my body has shared its capabilities with yours."

Walking toward a dead tree by the side, Ryder swung his palm wide open and smacked it with what he thought was moderate force.

The result was nothing short of spectacular. As soon as his palm collided with the tree, it lifted off the ground without resistance—as if it were weightless—sent hurtling through the air. It tumbled skyward, traveling past the red clouds of the strange world before finally crashing back down at a far distance.

Ryder struggled to keep his mouth shut—his strength felt unreal.

"Holy sh—" Ryder's jaw dropped as he stared at his hand in disbelief. "That's... that's impossible!"

"Impressive, isn't it?" Luxy spoke pridefully. "That's just a fraction of what you can do now."

"Wait a minute… Luxy, is that your strength!?"

"Yes," Luxy replied. "And it's yours now."

Though he was in Ryder's head and beyond his sight, Ryder could still tell how proud Luxy was just by the tone of his voice.

"Did you really think I was kidding when I said you would have been dead if I had hit you earlier? Even a single strike from my tiny-looking legs would have drilled a hole into your head."

Ryder swallowed hard. None of this was truly surprising, considering where he was—a plane of beasts.

"I guess I truly am lucky. Let's test my speed."

Ryder smiled as he took a running stance.

"Let’s see how far I need to go before I meet this demon that wants me."

"Hey, don’t go all out!" Luxy quickly cautioned. "You’re still new to my speed. The last thing I want is for you to crash into a devil being stronger than I am."

Fixing his gaze at the black foggy trail emanating from his mark...

Swoosh!

He pushed off from the ground. The world blurred around him as he accelerated to speeds he had never imagined possible for any human. Trees whipped past him so quickly they were nothing but blurry gray structures. The ground beneath his feet seemed to vanish as he practically flew along the path.

Ryder’s body sliced through the air as he ran along the long, desolate road of the dead forest, following the trail still present from his mark.

"This is AMAZING!" he shouted as his voice was whipped away by the wind.

"Focus, you idiot!" Luxy barked in his mind. "You're approaching the outskirts of the city. Slow down before you—"

Ryder didn't hear the rest of the warning. He was too busy trying to avoid the massive boulder that suddenly appeared in his path.

He swerved sharply, his body moving faster than his mind could process. Due to how foreign his body was to him right now, he still couldn't tell the exact force to exert and used too much, which sent him tumbling, skidding across the rough ground until he finally came to a stop against what felt like a wall.

As he raised his head upward to stare, something caught his eye—structures were coming into view.

Ryder hurriedly got up from the ground and rushed forward— not running this time. He had finally reached the end of the road. Unlike the deserted wasteland he had been running through, this place was bustling with life.

The trail he had been following seemed to disappear at that moment.

The structures before him were unlike anything he had ever seen. Giant anthills towered behind enormous beehives, rocky tunnels stretched far, and a mixture of strange buildings lined every corner of the land.

And the inhabitants…

They weren’t exactly similar to the ones on his home planet, but they bore slight resemblances.

Tall giants with skin like stone, larger and fiercer versions of animals and insects, humanoid creatures with horns and tails—countless beings walked the land. In simple terms, they looked like the evolved versions of animals from planet Terra.

Some were busy minding their own business. Some were fighting each other. Others observed from higher landscapes, scanning the vicinity. Every single beast was occupied with something.

"Welcome to the living area of this plane," Luxy introduced. "All of these creatures are ruled by the Great Dracogon—the beast that summoned you."

Ryder narrowed his eyes. "Dracogon… you mean the beast that marked me?"

"Right," Luxy answered. "Back there, where you exited, is the deserted area of this plane. That’s why I was the only creature you found."

"The Dracogon forbade us from stepping a foot outside this area… but I did anyway," Luxy spoke, swelling with pride.

"Hold on," Ryder said, ducking behind a crystalline structure as a group of what looked like giant, armored scorpions marched past him. "The Dracogon is your ruler, correct? He is feared and respected by everyone. So why did you disobey him?"

"If he’s stronger than you and the other devils and demons, why did you break his rule? Are you going to face a penalty?"

Luxy spoke excitedly. "That’s the point—a penalty! He is stronger and feared by everyone. That’s exactly why I decided to get on his nerves."

"This plane is too boring for me. That’s why I decided to have some fun by drawing his attention to myself."

"Things could go south if the Great Demon Dracogon descends upon this plane with the intention of massacring me. But if he doesn’t, I’ll earn a name for myself!"

"I will be feared and respected by every demon and devil under Dracogon—for being fearless."

"Isn’t that intriguing!?"

Ryder gulped hard, then thought to himself: This little bunny is a lunatic.

"Seriously?" Luxy stressed. "You know I can hear your thoughts, Ryder."

"And so what!?" Ryder shot back. "I’m just being honest. You’re truly nuts. Aren’t you even afraid of something beyond your expectations?"

"Tsk," Luxy scoffed. "I don’t even fear death that much, let alone anything lesser. I already made myself clear—all I want is fun, didn’t I? Do you have any idea how long I’ve been living for?"

Luxy scoffed again—then suddenly, he froze.

Ryder felt it immediately—something was wrong.

"Luxy… are you okay?"

There was absolute silence, sending chills down Ryder’s spine.

"Luxy, are you playing around right now!? If you are, please stop!"

Still, no response. It almost felt as if Luxy had vanished from his mind entirely.

Panicked, Ryder checked the tattoo-like mark on his left shoulder. Luxy’s mark was still there. But Luxy himself…

"Luxy…!?"

Silence.

"Luxy, quit messing around!"

Still, no response.

After what felt like an eternity, Luxy's voice finally returned—dead serious.

"Ryder…"

"The Dracogon just sent a message to all the creatures under him."

Nakamura began his long speech, spouting nonsense to the children and telling them the benefits of being beloved. The words rolled off his tongue like honey and poison at the same time—sweet enough to entice, but deadly to those who truly understood the whole picture, like Satoru. "My precious children," he began, his voice carrying across the massive hall with perfect clarity. "Today marks another milestone in your journey toward greatness." He gestured grandly with his arms, as if he were a speech of hope rather than addressing a room full of traumatized children who had been forced to survive in conditions that would make even criminals weep. "Each of you has faced challenges that would break lesser individuals. You have walked through fire and emerged as diamonds." "The path of the beloved child," Nakamura continued, a warm smile on his face, "is not merely about privilege." "Oh no, my dear ones," he demonstrated, spreading his hand wide open. "It is about acknowledgment

The torture of the children was inhuman—each scream echoed through the entire mansion, the pain that was being inflicted on them was nothing short of excruciating. Yuki and Satoru, as the woman's own children, received special attention. Their punishment was meant to be an example of what happened when anyone from the Nakamura family disobeyed rules. But the torture the children faced was like mercy compared to what Yuki and Satoru's mother faced. A familiar was summoned into the room—a massive wild dog beast. The children were forced to watch as their protector, the only adult who had shown them genuine care and compassion, was fed to the creature. Her tears, her blood, her final breath—all of it was seared into their memories, especially Satoru's. She who had risked everything to show them love died knowing that her actions had led to the torture of the very children she had tried to protect. This was the source of Satoru's hatred—not just the general cruel character of

The Nakamura family—a name that carried weight in the shadows of Tokyo's city, whispered about in secrets and feared in back alleys. To the outside world, they were successful entrepreneurs, with their charitable donations making headlines in the news. But behind the gates of their mansion lay a truth so twisted that no one could guess or even imagine: they were a family that focused on making children and breeding them like livestock. The comparison to livestock wasn't some sort of exaggeration—it was generous compared to their treatment. Even cattle, after all, received more mercy than the Nakamura children. Consider the humble cow: it gets shelter built or designated specially for it in whatever weather. Though confined within their owner's boundaries, they still receive the privilege to roam freely within those limits, to graze and interact with their kind. They're fed regularly, given medical attention when needed, and generally kept in conditions that ensure their w

  • chapter 137

The walk to the Nakamura family mansion wasn't so long... No, not really. That was a lie Satoru told himself every time he made this journey. The truth was, the walk was like an endless trek, but it felt like mere moments when Yuki was there beside him, chattering away with no care in the world and laughing like he knew nothing bad about where they were headed. "Remember that time we tried to build a structure just like the family mansion?" Yuki was saying, gesturing wildly with his hands. "And we thought all that was used for building were clay and water?" How could I forget? Satoru smiled brightly. We nearly died—we were just four, after all. We spent a hell of a lot of time. Satoru stressed, as if he was re-experiencing the whole moment. "It would have been less time-consuming if you hadn't kept pestering me with your stupid talk." I still feel like I wasted a portion of my life on that till today. "Heyyy!" Yuki screamed, his head steaming. "My talks aren't stupid!

  • chapter 136

Saturday, August 2nd, 2005. Tokyo city, Japan. The morning sun cast long shadows across the bustling streets of Tokyo. The city was bustling with several million people, each hurrying toward their own destination, dressed decently and respectably. Yet among this sea of people, one figure stood apart like a sore thumb. A young boy, no more than ten years old, struggled against the weight of what appeared to be too heavy for his small size; however, he surprisingly could move it. His clothes, that were once probably shades of blue, had faded to a brown color, patched and re-patched at different angles. The shirt hung loose on his thin shoulders, too large for his questionably slender frame, as if he got it from some charitable individual or perhaps, a dumpster. The cart he dragged behind him was sticking out just like him, given that such was becoming rare these days. It was a wooden box designed for horses, with iron wheels that were already rusty. It groaned with ea

  • Chapter 135

Meanwhile, Ryomen, still carrying Zhou on his back and clearly struggling with his own emotions about the night's events, approached the group with an expression that was simultaneously angry and filled with genuine concern. "Is no one going to check up on Zhou?" Ryomen questioned with barely controlled anger, his voice carrying the weight of someone who felt his friend was being unfairly overlooked. "Oh, right, right," Brok responded immediately, recognizing the justice in Ryomen's complaint and feeling somewhat embarrassed that he had needed the reminder. Without hesitation, he rushed forward to assist with Zhou's care, his movements quick and purposeful as he prepared to assess his superior's condition. He had never learned medical training, but he had lived quite a rough life back then as an agent for the underling tournament, so he knew some basic life hacks. But as Brok approached Zhou's unconscious form, something completely unexpected happened. Zhou's eyes sudden
