Lucia held onto Julian's black shirt from behind, her body shaking wildly. "Julian... please," she sobbed, tears spilling down her bruised cheeks. "Don't move! They'll kill you."

"Stay behind me, Mom," Julian said softly. He didn't step back. He stood like an iron wall, his dark eyes colder than the storm outside.

Captain Vance shoved past his officers with a greasy, yellow-toothed smile. He pressed his heavy steel revolver against Julian's forehead.

"Look at you," Vance sneered, his breath reeking of cheap whiskey and tobacco. "You came back to Sunspire City thinking you were a tough guy? Let me tell you how things work here, boy. Governor Chadwick Lincoln owns this town. He owns the courts. He own the mayor. And he owns every bullet in this room."

Julian looked Vance straight in the eye. "Captain Vance," he said, his voice flat and calm. "You are using your badge to shield a kidnapper and a monster. Lower your weapons and walk away while you still have a chance."

Vance laughed hysterically, and his officers joined in with harsh chuckles.

"A chance? You're giving me a chance?" Vance spat on the floor next to Julian’s boot. "You broke into the governor's home, attacked his guards, and tried to murder him. My official report will say you resisted arrest with lethal force. Nobody asks questions when we take you out in a body bag!"

Vance pulled back the hammer of his gun with a loud CLICK. "Say goodbye to your mother, boy."

Julian didn't shout or argue. He slipped his right thumb into his trouser pocket and pressed a small biometric button on his black military device twice.

BZZZZT!

A high-frequency pulse tore through the study. Every radio, bodycam, and flashlight on the officers' vests blew out in tiny blue sparks.

Outside, the searchlights on the police cars died at the exact same instant. Total, pitch-black darkness covered the room.

"What the hell?" Vance yelled, his smile vanishing instantly. "What happened to the lights?! Backup, check the power!"

The twenty officers panicked in the dark, shouting and fumbling wildly with their guns. "Hold your ground! He's right in front of us." Vance screamed.

Before an officer could pull a trigger, fast shadows moved through the dark without making a sound.

THUD! CRACK! BANG!

Heavy boots thudded against the floor. Rifles were snatched right out of shaking hands. Knees were kicked inward with brutal force. Man after man crashed onto the floor in rhythmic succession.

Vance spun around in a circle, waving his gun blindly into the dark air. "Where are you?! Shoot them! Shoot—!"

A hard hand clamped around Vance’s wrist like a steel jaw. A thumb pressed into a nerve cluster on his elbow, and Vance’s hand went completely numb. His revolver clattered uselessly onto the wooden floor.

Before Vance could open his mouth to scream, two broad arms twisted his shoulders behind his back and slammed his face flat against the cold floor.

CLICK.

Soft blue lights on silent military drones flickered overhead, lighting up the room.

Vance gasped for breath, his jaw jammed against the floorboards. He opened his eyes and froze in total terror.

All twenty of his elite officers were kneeling on the floor in two straight lines. Thick plastic zip-ties locked their wrists behind their backs. Standing over every officer were tall soldiers clad in unmarked, matte-black gear, holding silenced submachine guns to the backs of their heads.

The heavy oak doors opened smoothly. A tall officer in a dark green military raincoat walked into the study. It was General Harrison.

Harrison walked past the groaning police officers and stopped two steps from Julian. He put his right hand over his heart and lowered his head in silent respect.

"The area is completely dark, Commander," Harrison said in a deep, low voice. "All local police frequencies are jammed. No civilian or news network knows this building exists right now."

Vance spat blood onto the floor, his eyes bulging with confusion and rage. "General Harrison? What is this? We are the Sunspire City Police Department. This man is a criminal. You can't touch us."

Harrison looked down at Vance with pure disgust. "Police Department?" Harrison said coldly. "Captain Vance, ten seconds ago our team breached your precinct's servers. We found twelve years of secret wire transfers from Chadwick Lincoln directly into your personal bank accounts. You are not a cop. You are a dirty traitor."

Vance’s face went pale. The color drained from his lips. "No... no, that's impossible! How did you get those files?"

"Erase everything," Julian said quietly.

Harrison nodded to his communications technician. "Execute Class-S Data Purge. Wipe all bodycams, dashcams, and hard drives within five miles. Fry the memory chips in their weapons. On public records, Captain Vance and his squad were transferred to the northern border two hours ago."

"Yes, sir," the technician replied, pressing a screen. A sharp electrical whine filled the air as every chip inside the officers' gear melted to a useless junk.

Vance began to weep, his arrogant tough-guy act collapsing into pathetic crying. "Please! Have mercy. We were just following orders. Who is this man? Who are you protecting?"

Julian walked up to Vance and stopped beside his head. He leaned down, his dark eyes staring directly into Vance’s soul.

"You will never know my name," Julian whispered, his voice so cold it made Vance’s heart skip a beat. "And you will never see the sun again."

Julian looked at Harrison. "Take them to the northern black-site. Strip their badges, wipe their identities, and lock them in deep solitary confinement forever. On paper, Captain Vance and his men never existed."

"At once, sir," Harrison commanded.

The soldiers yanked the crying police officers off the floor like sacks of trash and dragged them out of the room. Vance’s loud begging faded down the hallway until the mansion fell completely silent.

Lucia stood frozen behind Julian, her hands covering her mouth in shock. She had spent eleven years believing her son was a low-level soldier who suffered in the war. Seeing these powerful men obey his every quiet command filled her with awe and deep emotional relief.

Julian turned back to his mother. The cold look on his face disappeared in an instant, replaced by gentle warmth and filial love.

He took her trembling hands in his own and kissed her knuckles softly. "Mom. It's over now. Nobody here can ever touch you again."

Tears filled Lucia’s eyes, running down her bruised cheeks. She reached up and held Julian's face gently. "Julian... my sweet boy... who are these people? Where have you been all these years?"

"I was fighting to make sure I could come back and protect you," Julian said softly, putting his arm around her waist. "That's all that matters, Mom. Come. Aurora is waiting for you."

He guided her gently out of the study, walking past the broken glass down to the estate courtyard.

In the driveway, an unmarked black armored vehicle stood idling in the heavy rain. Its doors slid open automatically as Julian walked up.

Inside sat Aurora, wrapped in a warm blanket, her eyes red from crying. The second she saw her mother, she let out a loud sob.

"Mom! Mom!" Aurora cried, leaping out of her seat and wrapping her arms around Lucia’s neck.

Lucia pulled her daughter tight against her chest, crying happy tears as she kissed her hair. "My baby. Oh, my sweet Aurora! You're safe, now."

Julian watched them embrace, a quiet peace settling inside his chest. His eleven years of war and blood had been for this single moment—to protect the family his father left behind.

He turned to Harrison beside the vehicle. "Take them to Sanctuary Seven," Julian ordered in a low, firm voice. "The hidden mountain estate. Place a full black-ops perimeter around the valley. No civilian cars, no commercial flights, and no public phones within twenty miles. Their names must not appear on any record in Sunspire City."

"Consider it done, sir," Harrison replied firmly. "Sanctuary Seven is completely off the grid. Even the top generals don't have its coordinates."

Julian kissed his mother’s forehead and gave Aurora’s hand a tight squeeze. "Go now. Rest. I will come to you once everything is finished."

"Julian... please be careful," Lucia begged, clutching his arm through the door. "Don't let them hurt you."

"Nobody can hurt me, Mom," Julian promised softly.

The heavy armored door shut with an airtight seal. The black vehicle turned smoothly and drove out of the estate, disappearing into the dark night without leaving a single trace.

Julian stood alone in the pouring rain, watching the red taillights fade away. The warmth in his eyes hardened back into cold, lethal steel.

Chadwick Lincoln had fled like a rat into his private escape tunnel, thinking his money and friends would save him. But Chadwick was only one part of the evil syndicate that ruined the Bennett family eleven years ago.

There was another group of snakes who betrayed his father, stole his money, and threw Julian away like trash when he was at his lowest—the Garrison family.

General Harrison stepped up beside Julian, holding a black military tablet that showed real-time business records.

"Commander," Harrison spoke quietly, rainwater dripping from his cap. "Your mentor, the late Benson Zucker, left his entire majority stake in Zucker Enterprises to you. The legal papers were signed two hours ago. You are now the secret majority owner and Chairman of the entire company."

Julian looked down at the tablet screen, which displayed the Garrison family’s corporate profile.

"The Garrisons are attending the corporate party tomorrow night at the Sunspire Grand Hotel," Harrison continued. "They are telling everyone in town that they signed a multi-hundred-million-dollar deal with Zucker Enterprises to save their dying business. Your ex-wife Susan Garrison and her brother Tony invited all the top elites to celebrate."

A cold, sharp smile appeared on Julian's lips.

"They think they are rising to the top of Sunspire City," Julian said, his voice as cold as ice. "Activate my secret voting power. Appoint a new public proxy for Zucker Enterprises tomorrow morning. Tell him to prepare the contract cancellation orders."

He looked up into the dark, stormy sky, his eyes flashing with quiet anger.

"Tomorrow night, I will walk into their grand party wearing plain clothes," Julian whispered into the rain. "I want to watch Susan Garrison brag about her wealth and power right before I pull the plug and crush her entire family into absolute poverty."
