The private jet cut through the night sky, leaving behind a fiery graveyard at the airstrip. The hum of the engines was the only sound filling the cabin—besides the heavy breathing of three people who had just barely escaped death.

Ethan leaned back against his seat, closing his eyes for a second. His ribs ached from the earlier fight, his knuckles were bruised from throwing too many punches, and his ears still rang from the explosion. But they were alive.

Leo, slumped in the seat across from him, let out a low chuckle. “That was the dumbest, most suicidal plan you’ve ever pulled, man.”

Ethan cracked one eye open. “Worked, didn’t it?”

Leo grinned, stretching his legs. “Yeah. But remind me to never let you take the lead again.”

Sofia, however, wasn’t laughing.

She sat by the window, arms crossed, gaze distant. The flickering city lights below reflected in her dark eyes, but her expression was unreadable.
