“Also, the Priest's interpreter called. There's an emergency meeting tonight at the inner altar,” the man added, his head bowed, not daring to meet Vesper's eyes.
Vesper gave a sharp nod, walking past him and back into his office, where Rowoon was already waiting. “Sit.” Vesper gestured towards the chair opposite him. “I’ve come to a conclusion,” He began, resting his ankle on his knee. “A half-brother who has been MIA for years suddenly shows up acting like a desperate avenger.” He let out a cold scoff. “I can read your intentions like a book. Either you're genuinely grieving, or you're a very committed liar." Rowoon's expression didn't change. He nodded, and Zane stepped forward and placed a briefcase on the desk. He opened it, revealing neatly arranged bundles of cash. Killian—now fully locked into his false new identity—Rowoon glared down at the thick bundles of cash. “It's yours. Take it, buy yourself some decent clothes, and stop using Benjamin's name to satisfy your ego.” He added, “You might share his blood, but my patience has a hard limit. Take the cash and buzz off.” Rowoon stared at the money in utter disgust. Without warning, he grabbed the edges of the briefcase and violently flipped it upside down, dumping the entire stack of cash across the desk. Loose bills rained down, several sliding off the edge and landing directly in Vesper’s lap. Vesper shot to his feet, his chair screeching against the floor. “You’ve been testing my patience since yesterday. You're asking for death.” Killian scoffed. They must think money was why he’s here. “Fuck you, you arrogant piece of trash,” Rowoon muttered, turning on his heel toward the door. “You can shove your money through your ass!” Vesper lunged forward, his hand snapping out to grab Rowoon by the wrist. Crash. The heavy oak doors were violently kicked to the ground. “Long time no see, Vesper!” Several men dressed head-to-toe in black swarmed into the office like a group of thugs. Rowoon, Zane, and Vesper spun around as more heavily armed intruders flooded the room. By the time the last man entered, the room had become uncomfortably crowded. There were at least twenty of them. Some were broad-shouldered and heavily tattooed. Others were huge, their faces marked by old scars and the kind of stillness that came from experience rather than discipline. At the front stepped their leader, Nolan, a man whose cold, dead eyes looked like the devil's own. “Who the hell are you?” Rowoon asked, seamlessly playing his part. “Vesper's worst nightmare. And you are?” The man's smile widened. "Nolan," Vesper said, his voice hardening. "I wondered when you'd grow the balls to show your face again." "Missed you too." Nolan spread his arms, taking in the office. “Let's get to work!” Nolan roared. “Take Vesper!” The room exploded into motion. Two men charged towards Vesper while another reached for Zane. Rowoon reacted before he could think about the implications. He swiftly seized a heavy iron rod from beside a storage cabinet and swung it across the path of the first attacker, forcing the man to stumble backwards. He moved with a speed that was almost inhuman, crossing the room in three long strides before Nolan could even register what was happening. He caught Nolan’s personal bodyguard by both arms, one each side and flung him towards the ground with a force that knocked the air out of his lungs. His back hit the wall with a sickening thud and he landed his face, screaming, blood already flowing out his nose. Another man lunged at him. Rowoon turned sideways, allowing the man to rush past, then struck him across the ribs. The attacker doubled over. Rowoon barely had time to recover before a gunshot shattered the air. He threw himself behind the desk as cover while bullets chewed through the wood. He didn't have the luxury of standing still anymore. If Vesper died here, the Temple’s inner doors would lock forever, and him—Killian would lose his chance at the Priest. Zane dashed forward, raising his pistol, firing back alongside Vesper as the office transformed into a slaughterhouse. Nolan's men spread through the office, using their numbers to cut off the exits. They weren't here to rob the place. They'd come for Vesper. And if Rowoon wanted to leave this room alive, he had to make sure Vesper did too. A man appeared at the end of the desk, aiming his weapon towards Vesper. Rowoon grabbed a fallen chair and hurled it at him. The gunman staggered as the chair struck his shoulder. His shot went wide, punching a hole through the wall. Seeing that, Zane let out a relief sigh. Rowoon closed the distance before the man could recover. He slammed the iron rod against the gunman's wrist, sending the weapon clattering across the floor, then drove his shoulder into the man's chest. They crashed against the wall. The man swung wildly. Rowoon ducked, struck him once in the stomach, and shoved him away. The gunman dropped to his knees, gasping. Rowoon picked up the fallen weapon. He didn't fire. Instead, he kicked it beneath the desk and turned just in time to see another attacker charging towards him with a knife. The man was fast. Rowoon barely avoided the first strike. The blade grazed his sleeve, and he felt the fabric tear against his arm. He caught the man's wrist with both hands. For several seconds, they struggled, the knife hovering dangerously close to Rowoon's face. The attacker was stronger than he looked. Rowoon drove his knee into the man's thigh, disrupting his balance, then twisted his wrist until the knife fell. He followed with a sharp blow to the jaw that sent the man stumbling into a chair. “This isn't your fight, kid! Who the hell are you?!” Nolan barked, watching in disbelief as 9 of his best enforcers went down in rapid succession under this man's brutal, counter-attacks. Who is he? “He has a death wish!” one of Nolan's men yelled, lunging forward. Rowoon barely had time to turn before the man swung a sharp knife at his head. He ducked, drove his elbow into the attacker's ribs, and shoved him into the man behind him. Two more came at once. Rowoon caught the first man's wrist, twisted it until the bone snapped, redirected the blade away from his body, and drove his knee into the man's eyes. “Fuck!!!” He cried out. By the time Rowoon looked up, the office had become a wreck. “I hate that this is coming from me, but he's good.” Zane said as Vesper gently took his seat, crossing his legs, blowing his smoke out, his eyes fixed on the chaos in front of him. Half of Nolan’s men were down, the other half were dying under Rowoon’s hand. He shielded him so well, giving none of them the chance to get near Vesper. He had almost seen nothing like this before. The dedication was remarkable. Except, Vesper’s expression was unreadable. Zane couldn't tell if the boss was as impressed as him or was simply enjoying the show. For more than 6 times, this man had killed, crushed and attacked any thug getting close to Vesper let alone trying to bruise his skin. His boss couldn't fight one thug, because he was there to deal with them himself even when the boss was fully capable. As in… It's Vesper the Viper we're talking about. He protected his life when he could have stayed out of the conflict.Latest Chapter
Chapter 10
Every survival instinct screamed at him to drop the folder, quit and run. But Killian forced his muscles to lock. He kept his breathing steady, smoothing his features into a mask of cold, professional indifference. How had the Priest discovered that he was out of prison? And how much did he know? Killian forced himself to continue reading, but the words blurred before his eyes. He could feel his pulse hammering in his throat. The Priest hadn't merely discovered that he was alive. He had put a price on his head. And Killian had just volunteered to work for the man who wanted him dead. Shit. Had he mistaken a stone for gold? He raised the papers slightly, careful not to let the others see his expression. The room continued around him. Someone laughed. Vesper answered a question about the deadline. Killian heard none of it. If he refused the assignment, he'd raise suspicions. If he accepted it, he'd have to hunt down himself first because if Exodus discovered h

Of course, replacing Brad would require more than a passing knowledge of Dutch. Any candidate still had to survive the rightful—weeks of rigorous testing designed to weed out informants and break the disloyal. Brad cleared his throat, whispered a few final, private words to Vesper and handed him a folded document. "Well," Brad said, turning back to Killian, "I'll see you around." He offered another handshake."Pas goed op jezelf(Take good care of yourself.)” Killian nodded. When the door clicked shut, Vesper stole one final, probing glance at Rowoon before handing the printed note Brad had left behind to Exodus. “The new list has arrived,” Vesper said. Exodus unfolds and glances through it immediately. “One hundred and fifteen?” He muttered, a bitter laugh escaping his lips. “What? Is it too heavy, do you need Zane to hold your hand?” Jethro teased mercilessly. Exodus ignored him. He was a seasoned machine, but processing one hundred and fifteen high-profile ass

Before Killian could reply, Vesper was already walking briskly toward the front, heading straight for the altar doors. Someone to meet. Could it be the Priest? A sharp spike of adrenaline cut through Killian’s boredom. He followed closely behind. Vesper stopped in front of a heavy mahogany door at the back of the altar, shoved it open, motioned for Killian to enter first, and slammed it shut. "Well, well. The one and only Vesper the Viper." Vesper's expression softened into a smile. "Exodus." The two men clasped hands. Killian took the opportunity to study the young man. Exodus was tall, broad-shouldered, and covered in tattoos that disappeared beneath his dark clothing. His long hair framed an angular face, and he stood a little taller than Killian. There was something deliberate about the way he carried himself, his posture radiating aggressive, coiled tension. He looked like a man accustomed to being the most dangerous person in any room—and deeply offended by the poss

“This is entertaining, isn't it?” Nolan barked at Vesper, who had a smug face. His men were going down in numbers and Vesper was just going to sit and watch? “I am Nolan Wong. The Wong family has more money and influence than you could dream of. You have no idea what you've just involved yourself in." Nolan's face darkened, pointing at Rowoon. "Then perhaps you should have stayed home." He replied. Nolan roared and charged. He was bigger than Rowoon, and he moved faster than his size suggested. His fist caught Rowoon across the jaw, sending him crashing into the edge of the desk. Pain exploded through his face. Before Rowoon could recover, Nolan seized his shirt and slammed him against the wall. "You little bastard!" Rowoon struggled to free himself. Nolan drove a fist into his stomach. Air left Rowoon's lungs. He doubled over, but Nolan held him upright by his collar. "I'm going to kill you." Rowoon's eyes narrowed. "You talk too much." He drove his knee into Nolan's

Killian entered the room and his heart pounded steadily. He closed the door and for the first time in a while, he broke down. His eyes travelled across the room, stopping at Sarah's and his kid's belongings. Everything was still where she'd left it. Her clothes remained neatly arranged, and the faint scent that reminded him of her seemed to linger in the air. It felt hauntingly surreal. He stood in the center of the quiet space, a raw wave of grief crashing over him. It had been over a decade, but their presence still filled the air. For a fleeting, agonizing second, his mind tricked him into thinking Sarah would walk out of the bathroom any moment, holding out her lotion and asking him to help rub her back. But the bathroom remained empty. Killian stood there for a long moment, trying to make sense of the ache in his chest. Being back in this room made it feel as though he'd lost them yesterday. He unpacked his things slowly, each item reminding him that he was home again, bu
