Chapter Seventeen

"Are you blind or something?" Elijah's head was bent low, his eyes checking where his phone might have fallen. At the sound of his assailant's voice, his brows furrowed in confusion. The feeling of recognition flowed through him as he immediately placed where he had heard such a deep voice. The same voice that had spoken to him laced with irritation and disdain for three years. Elijah raised his head to face the owner of the voice who had run into him and still dared to yell at him.

In a few seconds, his eyes met Mark's, and what he saw baffled him. Elijah expected to see awe or shock in Mark's eyes given that they had just met after three years of working under him, but what he saw was recognition and anger directed towards him. They continued to stare at each other, as tension zapped in the air, nobody uttered a word or made a move, then it dawned on him that the hit had been intentional. Mark had likely seen him when he walked in and had purposely bumped into him.
