Sean turned to Dante, his frown deepening. “Are you going to be quiet?”

Dante shrugged with a grin. “I’m just saying you should pay attention to what you’re doing. If anything goes wrong, you won’t be let off easily.”

Sean rose to his feet abruptly. He had tried to concentrate, to do what he came for—but the man wouldn’t stop talking.

“Since you’re the one who caused this mess, go ahead and fix it,” Sean snapped, not ready to stay any longer.

Dante hadn’t just made things worse—he was also trying to act like it wasn’t his fault.

Abrill and Victor were taken aback. They thought Sean was only venting—until he grabbed his soaked jacket from Greg and headed for the door. That’s when they realized he meant it: he was leaving.

“Hold on, Mr. O’Connor!” Abrill called out, glancing at Victor before hurrying after him. “Are you really leaving?”

“Yes, I am,” Sean replied without looking back. “The professional who ruined everything is still here to take care of it.”

That didn’t sit well with Abr

Sean had no idea things would escalate like this. If he’d known the conversation with the siblings would take this turn, he wouldn’t have bothered responding to them at all.The event was already underway, and it was almost time for Abrill to be called onto the stage. The last thing he wanted was for her to be caught up in this nonsense. His jaw clenched. Now Rosalind was getting involved, and to make matters worse, Nate was approaching with another man walking beside him.Sean was certain now that whatever time he’d planned to use to relax at this event was about to be completely wasted.“You can go ahead with the event,” he told Abrill. She turned her head toward him and shook it. “No. I want to stay here and see what’s happening.”Her eyes twinkled with curiosity, and he sighed.“Okay.”Rosalind reached them just then, her gaze landing on her brother and sister. Both immediately moved toward her, confusion written across their faces.“Are you friends with her?” Lillian asked, gestu

“Hey, Nate! Is that you?” a voice called out.Turning around, Nate looked at the speaker, his brows furrowing in mild confusion. Standing there was one of his high school classmates. They hadn’t been particularly close, but they’d been in the same group and had spoken a few times back then.“You’re here,” Nate replied, turning fully to face him. “It’s been a while since we last saw each other. When did you get back? I heard from the others that you left the country for business.”Without waiting for a response, Nate leaned closer to the young man.“You look more ripped than before,” he remarked. “What’s your routine, Owen?”Owen grinned at the comment and, without hesitation, held out his arm, curling it slightly to make the muscle stand out. The veins along his forearm popped, and the fabric of his sleeve strained just a little as he flexed.“Not bad, huh?” he said with a hint of pride.Nate chuckled and gave an approving nod. “Yeah… you’ve definitely been putting in the work. Looks

As soon as Abrill stepped in, everyone turned to look at her. She arched her brows at them. She had just left Sean for a moment, and suddenly, he was getting harassed. She couldn’t help but wonder why that seemed to happen so often. Her eyes locked on Lillian, cool and unimpressed. She recognized her immediately, even though she had never met her. The resemblance to Rosalind was striking, though Lillian looked like a younger, ruder version.Rosalind, on the other hand, widened her eyes in disbelief. She had thought Sean wouldn’t attend since he mentioned the launch would be after three days. She assumed he was just here to eat. But now, seeing Abrill by his side, her lips pressed into a thin line.‘He actually brought his woman to my event.’Even if they were divorced, this was too much. To her, it wasn’t just bad taste, it was a deliberate show of disrespect. She had been about to step in and help him smooth things over with her younger siblings, making it seem like nothing happened.

  • CHAPTER 124

“Any message from the Strouds yet?” Rosalind asked, her tone calm as she glanced at Chloe.Despite the worry simmering under her composed exterior, she was far less tense now. Since receiving word that the Strouds were on their way, she could only hope they arrived sooner. The end of the event depended on their arrival, and Rosalind was eager for it to wrap up. She’d had enough of dodging endless questions from guests.“There isn’t,” Chloe replied with a shake of her head. “All we can do is wait for them to show up.”Rosalind nodded, then let her gaze sweep across the crowded room. After a few seconds, her eyes landed on Sean, who was standing by a corner table, a plate of dessert in hand, eating without a care in the world.“Did he just come here to eat?” Chloe asked after following Rosalind’s gaze. “The Stroud representative isn’t here yet—why don’t we just kick him out?”“Let him be,” Rosalind said, looking away from Sean and back toward the entrance.‘He must not have been eating

  • CHAPTER 123

Abrill hadn’t expected to see Nate there, and she certainly hadn’t expected him to speak to her like they were old acquaintances. The way he spoke made it sound like he knew her so well that he had the right to question her presence—and that pissed her off a little. She had no time to respond to him.Without a word, she turned away, clearly intending to walk past him without entertaining the conversation.Nate’s jaw tightened, though the irritation never reached his voice when he spoke again.“Ignoring me? You should at least acknowledge that I’m standing here,” he said smoothly, as if her cold dismissal didn’t sting. “But I’m curious—why here, of all places? I’m sure you and Ms. Springfield aren’t close enough for her to invite you.”Abrill frowned, a thought crossing her mind. Hadn’t she introduced herself to them? Or perhaps they were all just so stupid and self-absorbed that they didn’t even bother to notice her name—never mind the fact that she had every right to be there. She did

  • CHAPTER 122

As soon as the door opened, revealing Sean, the air in the room shifted. The smiles on everyone’s faces vanished, the earlier excitement draining away in an instant. Julian scoffed and stepped back, his eyes narrowing at Sean as though his very presence was an insult to the occasion.Eleanor was even more irritated—especially since she had just finished calling Sean a loser, and now here he was, walking right in.“Did you invite him?” Eleanor immediately asked, her gaze locking on Rosalind.Rosalind shook her head with a sigh. She had no idea he would show up, not after how their last meeting had gone. She couldn’t help but wonder why he enjoyed turning up in places like this.‘We’re already divorced,’ she thought. ‘Would he try to use the excuse that it’s my event?’Then she remembered the woman Sean had been with at the other party. She hadn’t cared enough to remember the woman’s name, but now she glanced to Sean’s side, half-expecting the woman to appear. The space beside him was em
