The Strongest Husband

Chapter 2: I won't ask again.

Anthony knew that it would not end well if they caught him, so he ran with full speed to the elevator.

“Stop him before he gets into the elevator, shoot him!" One of the men yelled.

“Don't shoot him, it will attract attention and it will be more evidence!" Another yelled and Anthony's eyes widened.

Anthony was fast on his feet and got into the elevator, because it was the quickest way to leave here. He was covering his nose and mouth with one hand and he used the other hand to press a random number in the elevator button.

He saw one of the men was closing in on him and the man was about to rush into the elevator. Anthony tossed the gift bag on the elevator and used his leg to kick the man who dodged and grabbed onto his collar trying to drag him out of the elevator.

Anthony punched the man straight in the face with his free hand, while still covering his face with the other hand, causing the man to let go of his collar and fall, passing out in the process, the elevator door closed and Anthony was breathing heavily, as his heart was drumming in his chest.

Anthony tried to calm himself down,as he didn't understand what just happened.

Anthony rushed out of the elevator when it opened, ran to his boss and gave him the gift bag.

He didn't want to tell anyone what just happened until he got his thoughts together.

When Anthony returned back to his seat he was all sweaty and wondered if he should inform the police of what he saw.

He knew it was the best option and he secretly took a break and called the police and informed them of what he saw, however the police said they will come and didn't show up for the remaining six hours he was at work, that's when he knew something was really wrong or he fucked up.

Anthony decided to relax, since they didn't see his face, but he didn't realize anything was wrong until he got to the entrance of the company where he had to use he company ID card to scan on the turnstile glass gate ,so it would open and he would leave, it was then he realized he wasn't with his company ID card that was supposed to be hung around his neck and resting on his chest.

"Shit." He cussed out before he could realize it, as he was nervously searching his pockets in hope that he had left it there.

What he didn't know was that a pair of eyes were watching him from a distance while on the phone ,as the man looked at his company ID card in his hand.

"His name is Anthony Martin, make sure to pay him a visit." The man said ,as he turned around and walked back into the elevator.

Anthony pleaded with the security guards to let him through,since he lost his company ID card and since they know him well they let him through.

Anthony hurried out of the company building, as he rushed to get into a cab and it drove off.

Anthony ,even inside the cab he was in, was restless, as he was looking from left to right and even behind him to see if there was a car following him.

The cab driver grew worried at how restless he was,"Is everything alright sir?" The cab driver looking at him from the rear view mirror asked and Anthony turned to him and forced a smile.

“Everything is fine, I was just thinking about something important." He reassured the cab driver with a smile and the cab driver nodded in understanding.

“You are acting as if someone is following you, so I wanted to be sure it wasn't the case." The cab driver said and Anthony gulped as he felt a heavy lump form on his throat.

Someone following him?

He just prayed that wasn't the case, Anthony absent mindedly touched the spot his company ID card should be resting on his neck.

Did that man grab his collar to get the company ID card ,so he would know who he is, that was the only explanation.

That evil bastard, he wanted to find out his identity no matter what.

"Sir, we have arrived at your stop."The cab driver informed Anthony who snapped out of his thoughts.

“Thank you." Anthony told him ,as he paid for his fare then got out of the car and headed into the apartment building he lived in.

While he was walking to his apartment door, he saw a next door neighbor he is friends with ,coming out from his apartment door.

Anthony managed to force a smile and wave to the man.

"Good evening neighbor." Anthony greeted the man happily and the man flinched and slowly turned his head to Anthony's direction and widened his eyes in panic when he saw Anthony,as he opened the door quickly and scurried inside, slamming this door shut.

Anthony paused for a second and furrowed his brows in confusion, as he stood there wondering why the man saw him and acted as if he had seen the ghost.

“Baby, why are you standing there?" Anthony heard a voice that brought him back to reality, as he saw his wife standing outside their apartment door waiting for him with a smile.

He hurriedly walked up to her and gave her a hug.

“I missed you. " He smiled and she kissed him.

“Come on, I prepared dinner already." She told him, as she was pulling him inside Anthony couldn't help but look down the hallway ,because it felt as if he was being watched and he saw no one as he shut the door.

Unbeknownst to Anthony ,when he shut the door a muscular figure walked out from one of the apartment doors and stared towards his apartment door with intentful eyes.

A smirk slowly found its way to the man's face.

“Bingo, I found the mouse.” He mumbled and began walking down the hallway.

Anthony's wife helped him run a bath when he was getting undressed, after getting freshened up and eating dinner.

Anthony and his wife were just relaxing on the bed, when Amelia ,his wife thought this was a good time to inform him of her concerns.

“Baby, I want to do a pregnancy test, can you get me a test strip from the convenience store?" Amelia asked and Anthony turned to her.

“Pregnancy test, are you pregnant?" He asked in surprise and Amelia giggled while rubbing her stomach.

“I think so, but I am not sure ,so I want to make sure." Amelia informed Anthony and a smile broke out from his face, he embraced her happily.

“This is good news, I need to go and do this immediately." Anthony was overwhelmed with joy, he rushed to wear casual clothing and left in a hurry to the closest convenience store, the only thought that filled his mind was that he might be a father.

Anthony and Amelia have always dreamed of having a child, it's been two years since they got married and Amelia has problems conceiving a child, but maybe the wait has been over.

Anthony finally got to the convenience store and took three packets of different pregnancy strips from the shelf and he thought of a future of him holding his child and sending the child off the school.

Anthony quickly headed to the counter where he paid for the pregnancy strip and rushed out to head home.

Anthony got to the door of the apartment where he lived with his family, he put the key in the keyhole and opened the door.

He noticed that all the lights were off and he found it strange, he closed the door and locked it and he tried flipping on the light switch in the entrance of the apartment and it wont turn on the lights.

He furrowed his brows in confusion.

The lights were in good condition when he left, he wondered what happened.

“Baby, I am back. " He announced his presence ,as he took out his phone from his pocket and turned on the light on his phone.

“Chris ,are you there ?What happened to the lights?" Anthony called out his younger brother to ask, as he took steps inside and he found it strange that the house was this quiet.

“Mom..." He called out , but his words we are caught out from his mouth when he shone the torch light of his phone straightforward and he saw his wife, her hands and legs tied down with a rope to a dining chair with duct tape over her mouth ,so she won't make a sound and she had tears streaming down her face , as she was shaking her head violently, as if to warn him of an approaching danger.

Anthony wasn't paying attention to his wife's signs or the look of fear and his wife's face, as he rushed towards her.

“Amelia!" He yelled in a panic ,as he dashed towards her and very quickly he came to a halt ,when a strange muscular figure wearing an all black attire like a hit man and a face mask to cover his identity came forward and pointed a gun with a silencer on its mouth, at his wife's head.

“How many people did you tell about what you saw today?" The muscular man holding a gun at his wife's head asked him in a low voice.

“What?" Anthony managed to ask ,as confusion was evident on his face in the dark living room where the only source of light was the phone torch he was holding in his hand.

The muscular man wasted no time and cocked his gun pointing at his wife's head.

Anthony gasped as his heart skipped a beat.

“I won't ask again." He told Anthony in a serious tone and Anthony gulped and exhaled sharply as he began to sweat when the air conditioner was on.
