“You are going to call the cops on me?” Lyon scoffed. “As the manager, should you not be willing to hear the customer out too?”

“You are no customer of ours!” The waiter interjected before the manager spoke. “Just leave!"

“Are you sure you are not going to regret kicking me out of this place? After all, I only came here to buy some food.” Lyon asked, still maintaining his cool.

“We’ve got nothing to lose, sir. The only thing that causes us to lose is giving free food out. And we won’t be offering that to you.” The manager said with a bright, yet fake smile.

Lyon took that as a cue to leave. He got up and left immediately without eating anything.

DING!

[New task up: Teach the employees from the restaurant a lesson to get revenge!]

“Nice timing, X!” Lyon said angrily. “You stopped me from giving them a piece of my mind back there, now you want me to get revenge. Pick a side!”

Before he could get a response from X, his phone rang, he looked at it to see the caller ID.

“Aunty May,” His maternal aunty who raised him was calling, a frown formed on his face.

“Ah, now you are taking your precious time before picking up, right?” She yelled in his ear as soon as he picked up.

“We heard the news about your wife. That smart woman must have figured out how much of a bad luck you are that she had to leave at once.”

Word soon spread fast.  Lyon thought to himself, it was midnight and his aunty had already heard that his wife had left him.

“Aunty May, I am sure  my wife is not the reason why you called. Please go straight to the point.” He said firmly.

“This bastard had grown cocky. Did your wife moving out late at night with the kids touch some circuits in your head?”

“Ah,” he scoffed, she only knew that Racheal and her kids left the house but she didn’t know the remaining details. “I didn’t know you were keeping a close tab on me after all these years, aunty.”

“Save your word because I don’t have the time to go back and forth with a nincompoop like you. I know your mother would not inform you so she could save face but the Old Madam is having her thanksgiving celebration and she wants the whole family to be here tomorrow.”

The Old Madam was the Matriarch of the Dwayne’s family. She held a very powerful position in the society.

Unfortunately for Lyon, his branch of the family did not get along with the old madam, they had fallen out of her favour before he was born so they never got to reap the benefits of the family’s magnanimous wealth.

“She wants everyone to come with a gift. I know you will not be able to afford anything expensive but try to get something decent, even if it means that you put that shabby apartment of yours on sale. Don’t come here to ruin Thanksgiving for everyone." Aunt May warned.

The Old Madam’s temper was no joke. Lyon remembered why he moved out at a young age and kept his distance with the Dwayne family.

She had made him kneel for seven days in their ancestral home with no food because he spoke out of turn and didn’t apologise for his actions.

Even after the seven days, he refused to apologise then she asked the servants to whip him. His mother had begged on his behalf to save his life. After he healed from that event, he moved out of the  Dwayne Manor.

“I know you are thinking of missing it, but think of your mother!” May said before hanging.

Lyon ran his hand through his hair, he had not seen his mother in years. When he got a job as a bachelor, he had gone back to offer her a place to live with him but she insisted that she wanted to stay by the old madam’s side.

Her decision strained their relationship thereafter. But hearing his aunty made his heart ache.

DING!

[New task up: Buy Madam Dwayne the most expensive and worthy gift tomorrow. Your gift must surpass the worth of the gifts of everyone else.]

“I can’t believe you right now, X. This woman hasn’t done anything to make my life better. All of a sudden, she wants me home, bringing her some gifts for some pretentious dinner.”

“That dinner is going to happen without me. Even if I end up going, I will not get any gift for the old madam

WARNING!

[Failure to complete the task will cause the Operator to lose the money in his bank]

“All of it? Not even a quarter or half of it?” Lyon replied frustrated.

He could not escape this fate, he had a few hours to get some rest then carry out the tasks the system has assigned to him.

The first task was even pending and he had not even thought about how he could solve that now he’s got another one on top of it.

He gave the restaurant one more look before turning around, "I better find a nice motel to stay for the night before I take on the tasks." he said aloud to himself.

“May I recommend a good place for you?” a young boy about twenty one years old said quietly behind him. He was wearing a bright smile on his face.

Lyon was stunned as he had not noticed the presence of the boy. He had a small frame, which was even smaller than his old frame. He estimated the boy’s age to be about fifteen years old.

“Mister, you look like you have just seen a ghost but do not worry. My services are not free.” The young boy said. “I am the most resourceful person in this city” he brought out a wallet from his bag and flipped it open.

A list of badges rolled out, “I can recommend places to live, cars to buy, what stores to patronize, the plumbers to work with, and other services that one could possibly need. I also know the cheapest to the most expensive places to access them and  if you have enough quid you may pay me to get things done on your behalf.”

Lyon stepped out of KlinMeal with Paul following closely behind him, and for a moment, he turned around to look at the restaurant.Only two nights ago, he had stood in that same building with an empty stomach, an old phone, and barely enough money to afford a cab ride home. The employees had looked at him like a beggar and treated him like he was beneath them. Now, the entire restaurant belonged to him.For the first time since waking up in that mass grave, Lyon felt a strange sense of satisfaction. It was not because of the money or the luxury surrounding him. It was because he had finally taken control of something that had once made him feel powerless.“Boss, I still can't believe everything that happened inside,” Paul said as they approached the car. “You fired two people, promoted another, and became the owner of the restaurant in the same afternoon.”Lyon chuckled as he opened the car door.“Believe it, Paul. This is only the beginning.”Paul quickly entered the driver's seat, b

The entire KlinMeal staff stood in tense silence after Hector announced Lyon as the new owner of the restaurant. Star's face had lost all its color, while Theo kept shifting from one foot to another, unable to meet Lyon's eyes. Two nights ago, they had treated him like a penniless beggar, and now the man they had humiliated was the person who could decide whether they kept their jobs.Lyon did not rush to confront either of them. Instead, he leaned back in his chair and looked at Hector calmly. “Before we discuss anything else, I want the employment records, customer complaints, financial statements, and staff performance reports for the last two years.”Hector nodded immediately. “Of course, Mr. Dwayne. I have access to all of them, and I can have everything delivered to your new office within the hour.”Paul stood beside Lyon, quietly observing the employees. He could not help being impressed by his new employer. The man he had met outside the restaurant barely a day ago had been hu

“Besides, we have a new owner here. You must know how wealthy one must be before they can afford to buy a place like this. A lawsuit with us is just a suicidal mission.”Lyon chuckled. She was really talking about suing the new owner of the restaurant. That was bold of her. If she treated him this way, it meant it was not her first time treating a customer with such disrespect.“Ms. Star, you are risking your job by acting rudely toward us. I’d advise you to go do your job and bring our order,” Paul said firmly.Star let out a hysterical laugh. “The suit you are putting on must have given you some wings that Red Bull couldn’t. You walk in here with that pauper into our grand restaurant, and you’re telling me I am risking my job?”She folded her arms across her chest.“What are you going to do? Fire me? Do you think this is a twenty-dollar-meal place where I’d get fired because of some little boy’s word?”She took a closer look at Paul.“Wait…”Her eyes narrowed as recognition dawned o

“Sir, how did you manage to get the CEO to sell the property to you at such a low price?” Paul asked as he swerved into the corner of the street that led to the KlinMeal restaurant.“He is an acquaintance." Lyon chuckled to himself. He could not believe that the little favour he had done to the old woman would bring such profit. He maximised system X’s screen and looked at the user interface, then he clicked on his account balance. “Welcome back, Lyon Dwayne”“Balance: $100,007,000.00.”“Transfer to your personal bank account or exit screen.”He clicked on the option to transfer to his bank then he minimised the screen.”“We are here sir,” Paul announced as he parked the car. He quickly got down from the car and opened the door for Lyon.Lyon stepped out and went into the restaurant with Paul following him closely. “Boss, I just got a text from JohnDoe’s lawyer. He said he will be five minutes late because he is stuck in traffic at the intersection. So he asked that we kindly wait

The moment his eyes landed on Lyon, he stopped. His brows furrowed as he stared at him, clearly trying to place the familiar face.Lyon noticed the man's sudden hesitation and looked at him curiously. Then recognition flashed across the CEO's face.“You…”Lyon pointed at himself. “Me?”The man walked closer, his expression changing from confusion to disbelief.“You are the young man from the antique market.”Lyon's eyes widened slightly. He remembered the man immediately. It was the same man whose blind mother he had helped at the antique market the previous day.“Yes,” Lyon replied with a small smile. “I believe we met yesterday.”The CEO's face lit up.“You helped my mother find her way to me.”The receptionist's expression changed instantly. She looked between the two men, clearly confused by the familiarity.“You actually remember me?” Lyon asked.“How could I forget you?” the CEO replied warmly. “My mother wouldn't stop talking about you after you helped her.”Lyon scratched the

12pm, the next day.Paul and Lyon arrived at the JohnDoe Private Equity. Lyon’s way of getting back at the staff from the KlinMeal restaurant was pretty much simple: buy out the restaurant and become their boss. But Paul’s phone beeped, and he turned to Lyon. “Sir, the gym setup shipment just arrived at our doorstep, someone needs to sign the package off.”“Go back home and deal with that, I will handle things here. Come back to pick me when you are done.” Lyon instructed, then he got out of the car.He strolled into the equity firm and approached the receptionist.“Good afternoon, I have an appointment with the CEO for 12pm.”The woman who seemed to be pretending to not see him come over to her, looked up at him then slowly scanned his look.A good looking man, properly dressed with a good sense of fashion. He meant danger.“Our director is not on seat right now, kindly send a letter to reschedule an appointment.” She replied to him curtly.Lyon could tell she was lying.
