There were no security personnel by the door, so he just waltzed in. Places like this restaurant used to have a high security system.

It’s quite strange that they didn’t have anyone by their front door.

Lyon didn’t think much of it, he just walked to the corner of the restaurant that barely had anyone. He saw the waiters moving about to serve the other customers so he stayed put for his turn while observing the ambience of the place and all the types of people that came in.

After a moment of observing, his mind lingered on the money he had gotten from system X. Getting a house would be the first  thing on his agenda, there was no way he would go back to live in the apartment that would remind him of the kind of life he had lived in the past.

Raising another man’s kids and letting his wife whom he thought truly belonged to him dictated how he lived.

He gave her his salary once he received it then she would give him a portion for bus fare for the month, while she spent the rest on whatever she liked.

Lyon didn’t mind this as long as she was happy and they had food to eat, plus the kids were in school.

Unknown to him, he had just been a fool.

“Sir, are you waiting for someone?” A waiter asked, shifting his focus back to reality.

“No! I am waiting for my order to be taken.” He replied subtly as his eyes went straight to the clock, an hour had passed.

With a sarcastic smile on the waiter’s face, he replied, “I am afraid our policy doesn't allow us to serve free food.”

Lyon looked at the waiter confused, who continued speaking.

“We are aware that other low-class restaurants may offer that but I think you should know that luxury places like ours would not do such a thing.”

The waiter scanned Lyon’s appearance from head to toe. “You have a fine face and a great body, perhaps you are waiting to pick up a sugar mommy or daddy here. whores like you should be at a brothel!”

“Excuse me!” Lyon exclaimed in disbelief. “I can't believe I have been waiting an hour for you to come take my order and this is what I get.”

“Whoa Whoa, one would think you’ve got some money sitting in your account from the tone you are using with me.” The waiter frowned. “But you are in luck tonight, I am in a good mood and your face is speaking to me.”

He slipped a card on the table. “Give me a call later, I will link you up with some of our VVIP clients. Knowing how they are, they will be interested in you. So be a good boy, leave before things get a bit messy.”

Lyon was overly irritated, as hunger was starting to cloud his emotions. He was literally starving. “Pass me the damn menu before things get ugly!” He threatened.

Ding!

[Operator is advised to keep their cool and not let their emotions cloud their judgment.]

Lyon ran his hand through his hair. There was no way he could at that moment reply to the system, especially with the waiter who was a natural guesser.

He had already assumed he was an escort or whore of some sort, if he replied to system X, he might add madness to this assumption about him and he did not want to add that to the mix.

The only way to work this out was to remain calm, “Look, I just want to buy some steak and a bottle of liquor. I am not here for free food, I am going to pay for everything I am having.”

Why would anyone walk into this place for free food?

“We do not sell cheap steak or alcohol here. Save yourself the embarrassment and leave before my manager comes here herself.” the waiter warned him.

“X, are you seriously going to make me beg before I have some food?” Lyon thought to himself but of course the system could not hear his thoughts.

“How about you just take my order, let me pay and get back to work?” Lyon asked, still managing to keep it together as he brought his phone out of his pocket to check the time.

“Is that an iphone 6s?” The waiter scoffed. “Even my little brother uses an iphone 14 pro max. Am I supposed to believe that someone like you that is yet to upgrade from a phone that was released in 2015 could afford to buy anything off our menu?”

“Take a look around, can you see anyone using any iPhone model older than the iPhone 16  here?”

Lyon took a look around the waiter was right but he had his money in bank app, isn’t that what should matter,

“In fact, I will get my manager right away.” the waiter said before disappearing into the kitchen.

Lyon looked into his phone and searched for other steak places, but it was almost 4am, the next place he could find some was about an hour away. He  palmed his face and threw his head backward and he completed walking away and going to bed on an empty stomach or just fighting to get his order.

“Hello sir,” a female voice called quietly, he looked in her direction, the waiter from before was standing behind her.

“My staff had explained the situation to me, he said you are here for a free meal and he had explained that we do not offer  that to you but you insisted on getting a plate of free food and even requested that he get me.”

“I am a very busy person, sir, and the only reason why we haven't had security kick you out is because we do not want to irritate the other customers as they do not like that. I would like you to leave to avoid interference from the police.”

Lyon stepped out of KlinMeal with Paul following closely behind him, and for a moment, he turned around to look at the restaurant.Only two nights ago, he had stood in that same building with an empty stomach, an old phone, and barely enough money to afford a cab ride home. The employees had looked at him like a beggar and treated him like he was beneath them. Now, the entire restaurant belonged to him.For the first time since waking up in that mass grave, Lyon felt a strange sense of satisfaction. It was not because of the money or the luxury surrounding him. It was because he had finally taken control of something that had once made him feel powerless.“Boss, I still can't believe everything that happened inside,” Paul said as they approached the car. “You fired two people, promoted another, and became the owner of the restaurant in the same afternoon.”Lyon chuckled as he opened the car door.“Believe it, Paul. This is only the beginning.”Paul quickly entered the driver's seat, b

The entire KlinMeal staff stood in tense silence after Hector announced Lyon as the new owner of the restaurant. Star's face had lost all its color, while Theo kept shifting from one foot to another, unable to meet Lyon's eyes. Two nights ago, they had treated him like a penniless beggar, and now the man they had humiliated was the person who could decide whether they kept their jobs.Lyon did not rush to confront either of them. Instead, he leaned back in his chair and looked at Hector calmly. “Before we discuss anything else, I want the employment records, customer complaints, financial statements, and staff performance reports for the last two years.”Hector nodded immediately. “Of course, Mr. Dwayne. I have access to all of them, and I can have everything delivered to your new office within the hour.”Paul stood beside Lyon, quietly observing the employees. He could not help being impressed by his new employer. The man he had met outside the restaurant barely a day ago had been hu

“Besides, we have a new owner here. You must know how wealthy one must be before they can afford to buy a place like this. A lawsuit with us is just a suicidal mission.”Lyon chuckled. She was really talking about suing the new owner of the restaurant. That was bold of her. If she treated him this way, it meant it was not her first time treating a customer with such disrespect.“Ms. Star, you are risking your job by acting rudely toward us. I’d advise you to go do your job and bring our order,” Paul said firmly.Star let out a hysterical laugh. “The suit you are putting on must have given you some wings that Red Bull couldn’t. You walk in here with that pauper into our grand restaurant, and you’re telling me I am risking my job?”She folded her arms across her chest.“What are you going to do? Fire me? Do you think this is a twenty-dollar-meal place where I’d get fired because of some little boy’s word?”She took a closer look at Paul.“Wait…”Her eyes narrowed as recognition dawned o

“Sir, how did you manage to get the CEO to sell the property to you at such a low price?” Paul asked as he swerved into the corner of the street that led to the KlinMeal restaurant.“He is an acquaintance." Lyon chuckled to himself. He could not believe that the little favour he had done to the old woman would bring such profit. He maximised system X’s screen and looked at the user interface, then he clicked on his account balance. “Welcome back, Lyon Dwayne”“Balance: $100,007,000.00.”“Transfer to your personal bank account or exit screen.”He clicked on the option to transfer to his bank then he minimised the screen.”“We are here sir,” Paul announced as he parked the car. He quickly got down from the car and opened the door for Lyon.Lyon stepped out and went into the restaurant with Paul following him closely. “Boss, I just got a text from JohnDoe’s lawyer. He said he will be five minutes late because he is stuck in traffic at the intersection. So he asked that we kindly wait

The moment his eyes landed on Lyon, he stopped. His brows furrowed as he stared at him, clearly trying to place the familiar face.Lyon noticed the man's sudden hesitation and looked at him curiously. Then recognition flashed across the CEO's face.“You…”Lyon pointed at himself. “Me?”The man walked closer, his expression changing from confusion to disbelief.“You are the young man from the antique market.”Lyon's eyes widened slightly. He remembered the man immediately. It was the same man whose blind mother he had helped at the antique market the previous day.“Yes,” Lyon replied with a small smile. “I believe we met yesterday.”The CEO's face lit up.“You helped my mother find her way to me.”The receptionist's expression changed instantly. She looked between the two men, clearly confused by the familiarity.“You actually remember me?” Lyon asked.“How could I forget you?” the CEO replied warmly. “My mother wouldn't stop talking about you after you helped her.”Lyon scratched the

12pm, the next day.Paul and Lyon arrived at the JohnDoe Private Equity. Lyon’s way of getting back at the staff from the KlinMeal restaurant was pretty much simple: buy out the restaurant and become their boss. But Paul’s phone beeped, and he turned to Lyon. “Sir, the gym setup shipment just arrived at our doorstep, someone needs to sign the package off.”“Go back home and deal with that, I will handle things here. Come back to pick me when you are done.” Lyon instructed, then he got out of the car.He strolled into the equity firm and approached the receptionist.“Good afternoon, I have an appointment with the CEO for 12pm.”The woman who seemed to be pretending to not see him come over to her, looked up at him then slowly scanned his look.A good looking man, properly dressed with a good sense of fashion. He meant danger.“Our director is not on seat right now, kindly send a letter to reschedule an appointment.” She replied to him curtly.Lyon could tell she was lying.
