“How old are you?”

The young boy pointed at his ID in the wallet. “I turned 21 on the first day of this year.”

“Ah, I see. You look like you are 15.” Lyon trailed off as a thought popped into his head, “How much do you charge per job?”

“In this economy, sir, I earn 500 dollars in my best month, it is difficult for people to find a resourceful person like me,” The young man said confidently.

Lyon took a close look at his wallet, the IDs were valid. Lyon knew this because he had to verify the IDs of most of the workers that came to work at the Jameson’s Villa.

“The name is Paul, right?”

“Yes sir.”

“If I'd offer you five thousand dollars a month, a place to stay and food allowance, would you work as my exclusive personal assistant?”

Paul’s face brightened up, as if he were just  genuinely happy. “Sir, is this really true or are you messing with me?”

Lyon smiled and brought his phone out, he opened his bank app, prompted the app to send $500 then he handed the phone over to Paul. “Enter your account details in,”

He did as Lyon asked and the money got wired into his account right away.

Paul checked his account balance, which was previously on -323.67 dollars but was now on 176.33 dollars. “This is so real, sir I am willing to follow you for the rest of my life.” he screamed excitedly, bowing simultaneously.

DING!

[The system has awarded you 5,000,000 dollars for employing the poor street young man. Plus another 10,000,000 dollars to cover his personal expenses and salary]

Incredible! Lyon thought to himself, if doing a good deed gave this much reward, how much more of a task. He didn't even plan to help the boy for the sake of the system.  Paul’s working rate was so impressive to him that it almost reminded him of himself as a younger man.

He didn’t know it would attract that much reward. This was a sign to take the tasks seriously.

“That is a signing bonus, so take me to the motel we will be spending the night.”

“Let’s go, sir.” Paul ushered him forward, “Though this is an upgraded looking area, there are several types of motels, which type would you like to spend the night?”

“Just somewhere safe. Tomorrow morning, I will send you some money to get me a nice and high quality tuxedo, a mansion, and a car. Can you drive?”

“Yes sir, I have a driver’s license," Paul replied, pushing his glasses back to the bridge of his nose.

Lyon knew he could not ask him to pick the old madam’s gift on his behalf, he had to do it because he knew her references and it was a task the system had assigned to them.

“Alright! When I am out, make sure you get new clothes for both of us, shoes and other essentials and have them delivered to the place you get.”

Paul was surprised that Lyon was entrusting him to so many tasks even though they had just met. He was not surprised that his new boss had mistaken him for a fifteen year old, his body frame had not changed since he left his foster home for a better life.

He had been living hand to mouth because of the horrible mistake he had made when he first came out to hustle for a better life.

He mixed with the wrong crowd, and he got into debts that he wasn’t done paying off. Paul had picked up so  many skills and lived a frugal life so he could clear his mountain load of debt.

For some reason, he was pushed to speak to the weird older man who was talking crazy to himself after he got off the call.

Though Lyon seemed to be acting crazier earlier, he was a kind man. He would rather trust a crazy kind man than to remain on the cold streets.

They arrived at a decent motel, it was pretty much affordable. Lyon asked for a double-bed room since he still had more stuff to fill Paul in on the details.

“Grrrr.” Lyon’s stomach growled loudly enough for the people around him to hear.

The receptionist and Paul looked at him.

“Ma’am, please, is your kitchen still active?” Paul asked.

“No. Our cook is asleep at the moment,”

Before she could offer a solution, Paul spoke again, “May I use your kitchen, I promise to be careful with your tools and pay for the ingredients.”

The woman looked at the two of them. One of them’s stomach growled like he had not eaten in days and the other was as skinny as a church rat. Maria, the cook might cuss her out for letting a stranger use her kitchen but there was no way she was refusing the hungry men in front of her.

“Alright. Keep your word!” She handed them the keys to their room.

“Do you know anything about the restaurant we met yesterday?” Lyon asked Paul as they ate their food.

He had cooked some noodles with eggs and fried beef for them.

“I don’t know much but I have heard rumours that the owner is looking to sell the place so he can buy some private island.” Paul said with a mouthful of noodles.

“Sir, did the place catch your interest?’

“You could say that, I need you to find the closer in charge of the restaurant, we are going to make a purchase, no matter the amount they are willing to sell it.”

Paul’s chopstick fell down. How rich was the man he was sharing a plate with? that he was casually mentioning buying one of the most exotic restaurants in the city.

Lyon stepped out of KlinMeal with Paul following closely behind him, and for a moment, he turned around to look at the restaurant.Only two nights ago, he had stood in that same building with an empty stomach, an old phone, and barely enough money to afford a cab ride home. The employees had looked at him like a beggar and treated him like he was beneath them. Now, the entire restaurant belonged to him.For the first time since waking up in that mass grave, Lyon felt a strange sense of satisfaction. It was not because of the money or the luxury surrounding him. It was because he had finally taken control of something that had once made him feel powerless.“Boss, I still can't believe everything that happened inside,” Paul said as they approached the car. “You fired two people, promoted another, and became the owner of the restaurant in the same afternoon.”Lyon chuckled as he opened the car door.“Believe it, Paul. This is only the beginning.”Paul quickly entered the driver's seat, b

The entire KlinMeal staff stood in tense silence after Hector announced Lyon as the new owner of the restaurant. Star's face had lost all its color, while Theo kept shifting from one foot to another, unable to meet Lyon's eyes. Two nights ago, they had treated him like a penniless beggar, and now the man they had humiliated was the person who could decide whether they kept their jobs.Lyon did not rush to confront either of them. Instead, he leaned back in his chair and looked at Hector calmly. “Before we discuss anything else, I want the employment records, customer complaints, financial statements, and staff performance reports for the last two years.”Hector nodded immediately. “Of course, Mr. Dwayne. I have access to all of them, and I can have everything delivered to your new office within the hour.”Paul stood beside Lyon, quietly observing the employees. He could not help being impressed by his new employer. The man he had met outside the restaurant barely a day ago had been hu

“Besides, we have a new owner here. You must know how wealthy one must be before they can afford to buy a place like this. A lawsuit with us is just a suicidal mission.”Lyon chuckled. She was really talking about suing the new owner of the restaurant. That was bold of her. If she treated him this way, it meant it was not her first time treating a customer with such disrespect.“Ms. Star, you are risking your job by acting rudely toward us. I’d advise you to go do your job and bring our order,” Paul said firmly.Star let out a hysterical laugh. “The suit you are putting on must have given you some wings that Red Bull couldn’t. You walk in here with that pauper into our grand restaurant, and you’re telling me I am risking my job?”She folded her arms across her chest.“What are you going to do? Fire me? Do you think this is a twenty-dollar-meal place where I’d get fired because of some little boy’s word?”She took a closer look at Paul.“Wait…”Her eyes narrowed as recognition dawned o

“Sir, how did you manage to get the CEO to sell the property to you at such a low price?” Paul asked as he swerved into the corner of the street that led to the KlinMeal restaurant.“He is an acquaintance." Lyon chuckled to himself. He could not believe that the little favour he had done to the old woman would bring such profit. He maximised system X’s screen and looked at the user interface, then he clicked on his account balance. “Welcome back, Lyon Dwayne”“Balance: $100,007,000.00.”“Transfer to your personal bank account or exit screen.”He clicked on the option to transfer to his bank then he minimised the screen.”“We are here sir,” Paul announced as he parked the car. He quickly got down from the car and opened the door for Lyon.Lyon stepped out and went into the restaurant with Paul following him closely. “Boss, I just got a text from JohnDoe’s lawyer. He said he will be five minutes late because he is stuck in traffic at the intersection. So he asked that we kindly wait

The moment his eyes landed on Lyon, he stopped. His brows furrowed as he stared at him, clearly trying to place the familiar face.Lyon noticed the man's sudden hesitation and looked at him curiously. Then recognition flashed across the CEO's face.“You…”Lyon pointed at himself. “Me?”The man walked closer, his expression changing from confusion to disbelief.“You are the young man from the antique market.”Lyon's eyes widened slightly. He remembered the man immediately. It was the same man whose blind mother he had helped at the antique market the previous day.“Yes,” Lyon replied with a small smile. “I believe we met yesterday.”The CEO's face lit up.“You helped my mother find her way to me.”The receptionist's expression changed instantly. She looked between the two men, clearly confused by the familiarity.“You actually remember me?” Lyon asked.“How could I forget you?” the CEO replied warmly. “My mother wouldn't stop talking about you after you helped her.”Lyon scratched the

12pm, the next day.Paul and Lyon arrived at the JohnDoe Private Equity. Lyon’s way of getting back at the staff from the KlinMeal restaurant was pretty much simple: buy out the restaurant and become their boss. But Paul’s phone beeped, and he turned to Lyon. “Sir, the gym setup shipment just arrived at our doorstep, someone needs to sign the package off.”“Go back home and deal with that, I will handle things here. Come back to pick me when you are done.” Lyon instructed, then he got out of the car.He strolled into the equity firm and approached the receptionist.“Good afternoon, I have an appointment with the CEO for 12pm.”The woman who seemed to be pretending to not see him come over to her, looked up at him then slowly scanned his look.A good looking man, properly dressed with a good sense of fashion. He meant danger.“Our director is not on seat right now, kindly send a letter to reschedule an appointment.” She replied to him curtly.Lyon could tell she was lying.
