“What a welcoming reception.”

Micheal laughed as he looked around the bar.

More than a hundred men had gathered in the common area, surrounding him from every direction. The tables and chairs had been pushed aside, leaving the entire room open for a fight. The only things still in place were the shelves lining the walls, filled with expensive bottles of alcohol and wine.

Every customer had already been forced to leave.

Now, the entire bar belonged to the men standing in front of Micheal.

“Huh?”Evelyn froze when she heard Micheal's voice. For a moment, it felt as though an electric current had passed through her entire body. Her heart began pounding so hard that she could almost hear it inside her chest, and she stood there staring at him as if she couldn't believe what she was seeing.Micheal was alive. After hearing about the assassination attempt, Evelyn had watched the video of Micheal jumping from the bridge into the river with Sophia. She had replayed it several times, hoping to find some sign that they had survived, but there had been nothing. She had eventually been forced to accept the possibility that Micheal was dead. From that moment, something inside her had changed. She had become unusually quiet and had lost interest in almost everything around her. Even when she was working, she often found herself thinking about Micheal and wondering how someone as troublesome as him could have ended up dying like that. Then, a few days ago, her grandfather's conditio

“Here you go.”Micheal handed the taxi driver a hundred-dollar bill. The middle-aged driver stared at the money in surprise before looking back at Micheal.“Sir, I don't have enough change for this.”“Don't worry about it.”Micheal waved his hand dismissively and stepped out of the taxi. The driver could only stare after him in disbelief.Micheal barely noticed. His attention was already fixed on the enormous villa standing in front of him. This was the location he had obtained after tracking Evelyn's phone. The process had taken considerably more effort than he had expected. With the computer knowledge he had gained from the System, locating a phone was not impossible, but it was still something he would rather avoid doing unless absolutely necessary.Unfortunately, this time it had been necessary.Evelyn had ignored his calls, and after hearing that she had not been herself since his supposed death, Micheal had no choice but to find her himself. He looked at the enormous villa and s

“President, production has been completed, and we're planning to launch the product today. Would you like to come and inspect it before we officially launch?”Vivian's voice came through the phone as soon as Micheal answered.Micheal did not even hesitate.“There’s no need. Go ahead and launch it.”“Alright, President.”Vivian ended the call.Micheal slipped his phone back into his pocket and shook his head as he walked out of Thompson Group. He raised his hand and flagged down a taxi before getting inside. There were still plenty of things he needed to deal with regarding Crownstones Properties, but the assassination attempt on Sophia had disrupted almost all of his plans. He had been forced to disappear for several days, and now he would have to reorganize everything from the beginning. He also wondered what Steph Technologies could develop next that would actually help the company grow.Perhaps the System knew something. After all, it was the reason he had taken control of Steph Te

“Huh?”The executives stared at the two people who had just walked into the meeting hall, and for several seconds, nobody said a word. They had spent the last few days believing Sophia and Micheal were dead, yet the two of them were now standing right in front of them as though nothing had happened.Macron was the most shocked of all.He sat frozen in Sophia's chair, staring at her with an expression of disbelief. Even after looking at her for several seconds, he still could not convince himself that she was actually alive.Micheal looked around the room and frowned.“Why are you all looking at us like you've seen ghosts?”Nobody answered.Micheal glanced at the executives before adding with a grin, “If I were a zombie, I would have already ripped out your intestines and killed everyone here, so stop looking so shocked.”A few executives swallowed nervously.Micheal's smile disappeared as he turned toward Macron.“And you.”His gaze settled on the seat Macron was occupying.“What the

“I'd advise you to stop waiting and accept the situation. Become my assistant, and I can make things much easier for you.”Macron leaned back in his chair with a smug smile as he looked at Natalie, who was sitting across the office with a dark expression on her face.“It has already been three days since Sophia disappeared. You saw the footage yourself. She and her bodyguard barely escaped an assassination attempt before their car was crushed on the bridge, and then they jumped into the river.”His smile widened as he continued.“You should accept the truth and move on. There is no way they could have survived that fall. Even if they somehow survived the crash, Sophia doesn't know how to swim, so their chances of making it out alive are almost nonexistent.”“Please get out of my office.”Natalie slowly raised her head and stared at him.Her eyes were red from the lack of sleep, and her hands were tightly clenched beneath the desk as she fought the urge to beat Macron until he could no

“Mmm…”Micheal slowly opened his eyes and immediately frowned as the bright sunlight coming through the bedroom window entered his vision. He raised one hand to shield his eyes from the glare and remained still for a few seconds, trying to understand where he was. Then he suddenly remembered everything. The ambush on the highway, the trucks, the river, the mercenaries in the forest, and Sophia. He remembered fighting the attackers, carrying Sophia through the forest, returning to his villa, and eventually collapsing after redeeming the medical skills from the System.Micheal looked around the luxurious bedroom before slowly sitting up on the large bed.It seemed Sophia had taken good care of him.He had no idea how she had managed to remove the bullets from his back and treat his injuries, especially since she had no medical training, but judging from the fact that he was still alive and feeling much better, she had apparently done a decent job.Micheal was about to examine his injuri
