Hudderson looked around, and when he couldn’t see anyone, he turned to Cairo.

“Come close.” He whispered, and then he continued scouring, but the only things he could see apart from the mountains were trees, dry leaves, and bushes.

The sound returned after a while, and this time, it was closer than the last time.

Hudderson was forced to turn to his right, and that was when he saw three figures marching vehemently toward him like shadows in the dark.

They towered above six feet, and it was hard to tell if they were humans or not.

Cairo thought he was brave enough, but the sight of the figures sent him closer to Hudderson, and he grabbed his jacket, holding onto it while he tried to get a grip on himself.

His heart was beating very fast, and when the figures were getting closer, he moved to Hudderson’s back, prompting him to shield him.

Hudderson kept his wide eyes on the figures while Cairo peeped from behind him, still holding onto his jacket.

They all stared as Hudderson and Gabriel left the mansion, their lips sealed entirely. The moment Hudderson and Gabriel got into the car, the latter looked back, and the sight of Gabby standing in front of the mansion caused his chest to tighten. At that moment, it almost seemed like he was beginning to regret his decision to follow Hudderson into the car, tears welling in his eyes. When the Supreme Ruler saw the tears in his eyes, he grunted, shaking his head with a twisted expression. “What are you doing?” Hudderson asked with a smirk on his face, looking him in the eyes. CHAPTER HUNDRED AND FIFTY-ONE “I am so sorry, Gabriel.” She whispered with tears in her eyes, and then she kissed him passionately until she could no longer endure the smell coming from him as a result of staying days without showering. She forced a smile the moment she pulled away from him, looking him in the eyes. Just then, Hudderson appeared before them, but his main focus was on Gabriel, his friend. “We need to leave this place, Gabriel. Now.” He said, with a smirk across his face, staring at his friend, whose expression instantly dropped. Gabby was not left out of the gloom, shaking her head while she tried to hold back her tears. She sniffled moments before it dropped, and then she turned to Hudderson, inching two desperate steps closer to him. “Please don’t take him away from me, Sir! I beg you!” She pleaded with more tears welling up in her eyes, and then she grabbed Hudderson by his left arm, holding onto it as though her life depended on it. “I thought he was

“Gabby?” Clement’s voice became more slippery than it was earlier, his eyes wide as he stared at the young lady holding onto her brown luggage. “What are you doing at home? You are not meant to be home until…” The Mayor paused, reaching for his memory. Meanwhile, the young lady had her eyes on Hudderson, but the next second, she recognized the person standing behind him, her brows arching above her expelling eyes.“Is that you, Gabriel?” She inquired with a slippery voice, marching forward from the moment she let go of her luggage. As soon as Gabriel heard the familiar and soothing voice, he lifted his face to take a look, his heart beating faster. “Gabby?” He gasped as soon as he saw the beautiful lady dressed in a blue jumpsuit, his heart leaping for joy. Slowly, he moved away from Hudderson, and for the first time since he regained his freedom, he didn’t seem as though he was afraid of the Mayor, not even when he was glaring at him with disdain. He kept all his focus on the lad

The Supreme Ruler was left speechless, his eyes wide with both bemusement and annoyance.Again, he looked at the Mayor, tightening his clenched fists. When he returned his gaze to Gabriel, he could still see the demand for a response buried deep in his eyes, and that made him more furious.“What have they done to you, my friend?” He muttered, but it didn’t look like he was going to get any form of response from the sapped young man who looked completely like a stranger, staring at him like it was their first time seeing each other. Clement felt the tension that gripped him, and knowing that Hudderson was going to come for him, he began to drift backward, struggling with his breath.“Don’t even think about it!” Hudderson’s voice echoed in the basement, forcing the Mayor to freeze, his heart beating faster than it was earlier on. He swallowed hard, staring at the Supreme Ruler with wide eyes.Soon, his hands began to tremble, and he decided that it was better for him to recline on th

“This is the way to your study, Clement.” Clara pointed to the staircase, staring her husband in the eyes.“What are you looking for in the kitchen?” She asked, her voice sharp and firm. Clement parted his lips, but he couldn’t break his silence, his eyes avoiding his wife’s stare like the plague. “I know, Honey. But I never said that the document I am here for is in my study.” He pointed out, forcing a smile to remain on his face.He chuckled softly, yet Clara’s twisted expression refused to vanish.“We need to hurry, Mr. Mayor.” Hudderson broke the suspenseful silence, inching closer to Clement.“Let’s go.” He said with a low but imperative tone, his eyes glaring at the Mayor. He no longer cared about the reaction he was getting from Clément’s wife, all he wanted was to accomplish his mission, and it didn’t matter what was going to happen next. “Come on…” He growled silently, and that was enough to force the Mayor to make a quick move even while his eyes were still on his wife.

CHAPTER HUNDRED AND FORTY-FIVE “I am his new bodyguard.” Hudderson finally spoke when it was least expected, inching closer to the lady with a smile. “Hello, Mrs. Reed.” He extended his hand for a handshake and bowed his head slowly. Clara couldn’t hide her doubt and bemusement. They took total control of her countenance, leaving her silent for a while.“A new bodyguard?” She muttered, turning to her husband who looked extremely unready to give her a response. Clement kept his silence, but he had to get rid of it the moment Hudderson scowled at him, compelling him to speak.“Yes, my dear!” The Mayor forced the words out of his mouth, nodding to affirm his utterance.Still, his wife sensed the tension in his tone, something she couldn’t remember the last time she witnessed. Clara looked him in the eyes, totally confused and doubtful at the same time. “I didn’t realize that you needed a new bodyguard, Sweetheart. What happened to Thiago?”“Oh, that!” Clement scratched the back of
