Vivian froze completely in place as the shocking revelation hit her, her beautiful eyes widening in utter disbelief while she processed the unexpected words that had just come out of her grandfather's mouth.

“Fiancé?” she repeated slowly, her voice filled with disbelief.

She stared directly at Trevor as if he were the world's cruelest joke playing out right in front of her.

“Him?” she asked again, unable to hide her shock.

“Yes,” Henry replied firmly and without any hesitation in his voice. “This marriage was arranged by me and Trevor’s father many years ago, and it is a binding agreement that I intend to honor.”

“No.” Vivian's voice was resolute and carried absolute determination. “I will never marry him no matter what you say. This engagement must be called off immediately before it goes any further.”

Henry’s expression hardened like solid rock as he listened to her defiant words.

“This is not open for discussion, Vivian. The decision has already been made.”

“Why not?!” Vivian snapped back angrily, her chest rising and falling with barely contained fury. “I am the CEO of Rose Corporation. I built everything I have with my own hands through hard work and dedication. And now you want me to throw all of that away to marry some random soldier I have never even met before in my entire life?”

Henry slammed his cane against the floor with powerful force to emphasize his point.

Bang!

“Nonsense! You will marry Trevor as planned, and that is final!”

Vivian clenched her fists tightly at her sides, her entire body tense with frustration.

“Grandpa, there are countless outstanding men in K. City who would be perfect matches for me. Why must it be him of all people?!”

“Because he is more capable than all the so-called outstanding young men in K. City combined,” Henry answered with absolute confidence and authority in his tone.

Vivian almost laughed out loud at the ridiculous claim her grandfather had just made. A mere soldier was supposedly more capable than all the wealthy families’ and powerful corporations’ young heirs put together? What a completely ridiculous claim.

Vivian turned toward Trevor with clear disdain, her cold blue eyes sweeping over his plain military uniform from head to toe with open contempt and judgment.

The man sat there calmly the entire time, enjoying his cup of tea as if this entire dramatic confrontation had absolutely nothing to do with him and his future.

“What rank did you achieve in the military?” she asked sharply while looking him up and down. “Or did you leave with nothing to show for your years of so-called service?”

“Rank doesn’t define a soldier’s worth,” Trevor retorted haughtily without losing his composure. “Each soldier is just as important in the military, and every one of them plays a vital role on the battlefield.”

"That's not an answer," Vivian replied angrily as she stared him down without backing off even an inch.

"Well, if you must know, I did what was necessary during my time in the military. Nothing more, nothing less," Trevor answered in a steady voice.

"Hmph. Is that the excuse you have?" Vivian sneered with clear disdain written all over her face.

"You contribute nothing, with no reputation, no achievements, and no background to speak of. Yet you stand here as if you are above everyone else in this room."

"Do you know how many outstanding men would kill for the chance to marry someone like me?" Vivian continued, her tone growing colder and sharper with every word. "I built Rose Corporation from nothing through my own hard work and determination. I will not get married to someone who contributes nothing and expects to live off my family's name and wealth."

Trevor raised an eyebrow slightly. For the first time during the confrontation, there was a hint of amusement in his voice as he responded.

"You think I want to leech off your family?"

"What else am I supposed to think?" Vivian retorted, her face turning red from pure anger.

"I think you are the one who is going to leech off me instead," Trevor scoffed directly at her.

"What did you say?" Vivian snarled back at him. She felt as if her chest would explode from the overwhelming anger building inside her.

"If it were not for my father's wishes, I would not want to marry you either. I have better options anyways," Trevor stated calmly, his words cutting through the air like a sharp blade.

Vivian's face turned crimson with rage at his arrogant reply.

"You scoundrel—!"

The sheer arrogance in his tone enraged her even more. Did he truly think they were on the same level after everything she had achieved?

"Enough." Henry banged his cane on the marble floor and spoke in a cold, authoritative voice that echoed through the hall.

"You will get married to Trevor," Henry declared firmly without leaving any room for argument. "End of discussion."

Amelia took a deep breath to steady herself, her chest rising and falling rapidly. Finally, she laughed coldly in defiance.

"Fine."

She turned toward Trevor, her eyes burning with cold fury as she delivered her final words.

"But know this — I will never acknowledge this marriage."

With that, she stormed out of the hall, her heels clicking sharply against the marble floor. Lisa shot Trevor one final venomous glare before hurrying after her mistress.

Silence returned to the Great Hall once again.

Henry sighed deeply and looked at Trevor with an apologetic expression on his face. “That brat has been spoiled since she was young. I hope you will not take it to heart.”

Trevor calmly sipped his tea. The warmth of the Snowheart Ginseng still lingered pleasantly in his chest, easing the ache in his side.

“I won’t,” he said warmly, his voice carrying quiet confidence.

“Thank you.” Henry nodded slowly with a satisfied look on his face. “Give her some time. I am sure she will come around eventually.”

Trevor nodded in response. He finished his tea in one final sip and stood up slowly from his seat.

“I should get going now, Patriarch Hardwood.” He smiled politely as he spoke.

“Patriarch this, Patriarch that. You make me sound like a monument,” Henry grumbled in a light-hearted manner.

“Call me Henry, please.”

Trevor chuckled softly at the request. “Alright, Henry.”

“That’s much better,” Henry smiled warmly. “Come, let me walk you out myself.”

“There is no need, Henry,” Trevor quickly declined the offer. “I will show myself out.”

Henry nodded in understanding. “Very well. We will talk another time when you are free.”

Trevor nodded once and turned toward the door with steady steps.

Outside the manor, Trevor walked quietly down the stone pathway, his breath visible in the cold air. His expression remained calm on the surface, but his mind was far from peaceful.

Vivian Hardwwood. The woman who had broken the last keepsake from his mother and called him a conman was actually the woman he was supposed to marry according to the old arrangement.

Why did his father even arrange this marriage in the first place? He did not want to deal with someone so short-sighted and arrogant.

How infuriating the whole situation was.

He exhaled slowly to clear his thoughts.

Just as he reached the grand gates, his phone suddenly vibrated in his pocket.

Trevor glanced at the unfamiliar number flashing on the screen, then answered the call without hesitation.

“Who is this?” he asked directly.

A respectful voice immediately sounded from the other end of the line.

“Mr. Helios? This is William Kane.”
