Chapter 5: The Blood Moon Alliance

The first battle of Hollow Valley began with a scream.

The Shadow Army charged from every direction, covering the valley like a black ocean. Their crimson eyes burned beneath the Blood Moon as thousands of weapons reflected the red light.

Max Draven did not move.

He stood in front of everyone, blue energy surrounding his body.

Behind him stood Alex and Dave.

For the first time in five hundred years, the three brothers were fighting side by side.

Kieran pointed his black sword at Max.

"Kill everyone... except the Fourth Blood."

The Shadow Army attacked.

A deafening roar echoed through Hollow Valley.

"Werewolves!" Alpha Ronan shouted.

The werewolf warriors transformed instantly and rushed into battle.

"Vampires!" Selene commanded.

Vampire soldiers leaped from the cliffs with incredible speed.

The witches raised golden barriers around the wounded while Mira began chanting an ancient spell.

The valley exploded into chaos.

Max disappeared in a flash of blue light.

His fist crashed into the ground, creating a massive shockwave that threw dozens of shadow soldiers into the air.

Alex moved through the battlefield like silver lightning. Every swing of his sword destroyed another enemy before they could react.

Dave laughed wildly as dark blades pierced his body and healed seconds later.

"I've missed this!"

He grabbed two shadow soldiers and smashed them together.

James fought beside Ronan, protecting the werewolf line.

Zake attacked from behind, saving injured warriors whenever enemies broke through.

Ella watched everything with fear.

The three brothers were stronger than any legend.

Kieran still hadn't moved.

He watched the battle calmly.

"You've grown weaker, Max."

Max looked at him.

"Come and find out."

Kieran smiled.

He lifted one hand.

Dark energy spread across Hollow Valley.

Every fallen shadow soldier stood up again.

James stared in disbelief.

"They're alive!"

Mira's face turned pale.

"No... he's using forbidden shadow resurrection."

The battle changed instantly.

Every enemy they defeated returned to fight again.

Ronan growled.

"We can't keep this up."

Selene nodded.

"Our soldiers are getting exhausted."

Max looked toward Alex.

"We stop Kieran."

Alex understood immediately.

Dave cracked his fists.

"Finally."

The three brothers attacked together.

Blue.

Silver.

Black.

Three different powers crashed into Kieran at once.

The explosion shook the valley.

Kieran blocked Max's punch.

Alex's sword cut across his shoulder.

Dave slammed him through an ancient pillar.

Dust covered the battlefield.

For one second...

Kieran disappeared.

Alex looked around.

"Where is he?"

Darkness formed behind Max.

Kieran's sword sliced across Max's shoulder.

Blood fell onto the ground.

Ella gasped.

"Max!"

Black poison spread from the wound.

Max ignored it.

He turned and punched Kieran across the valley.

Kieran crashed into broken ruins before standing again.

A smile appeared beneath his broken mask.

"Now you're angry."

Meanwhile, Ella stayed beside Mira.

The mark on her palm burned hotter with every passing second.

"It hurts."

Mira looked worried.

"The Heart Crystal is responding to the battle."

"What is it trying to do?"

"Awaken you."

Before Ella could answer, shadow creatures broke through the witches' barrier.

James rushed toward her.

"Behind me!"

Three creatures attacked at once.

Ella closed her eyes.

Golden light burst from her body.

The creatures disappeared instantly.

Silence spread across the battlefield.

Every witch stopped chanting.

Mira whispered,

"The Fourth Blood is growing stronger."

Kieran looked directly at Ella.

"There she is."

He abandoned Max and charged toward her.

Max saw Ella in danger.

Without thinking, he disappeared.

He appeared between Ella and Kieran just as Kieran's sword came down.

Blue and black energy collided.

The impact cracked the ground beneath them.

"You'll never touch her."

Kieran laughed.

"You've changed."

"I haven't."

"You protect someone who isn't your blood."

Max's eyes became colder.

"I protect anyone Lucian wants."

Kieran smiled.

"So you still don't know."

"Know what?"

Kieran leaned closer.

"The Fourth Blood is connected to your family."

Max froze for a heartbeat.

Kieran used that moment to slash Max's chest.

Blood covered Max's shirt.

Dave roared.

He punched Kieran so hard that the Shadow General flew through three stone pillars.

Alex rushed to Max.

"You're injured."

"I'm fine."

"No, you're not."

Max stood anyway.

His blue eyes never left Kieran.

The battle grew worse.

Shadow soldiers surrounded the witches.

Ronan fought beside Selene.

Back-to-back.

For the first time in history, vampires and werewolves defended each other instead of fighting.

Mira slammed her staff into the ground.

"Ancient witches... hear my voice."

Golden runes spread across Hollow Valley.

The earth began shaking.

Everyone stopped.

Even Kieran looked surprised.

"No..."

An enormous stone circle slowly rose from beneath the valley.

The symbols carved into it glowed bright gold.

Ella's mark answered immediately.

"It's calling me."

Mira shouted,

"Ella! Don't resist it!"

The golden light surrounded Ella completely.

She slowly floated above the ground.

James looked terrified.

"Ella!"

She couldn't hear him.

Her eyes turned completely gold.

Ana's voice echoed through the valley.

"Fourth Blood... awaken."

Inside the golden light, Ella stood in a white temple.

Three women waited for her.

Ana.

Eve.

Neev.

"You've come."

Ella looked around.

"What is this place?"

"The Heart of Hollow Valley."

A glowing crystal floated above an ancient altar.

Eve pointed toward it.

"That crystal has protected the balance for centuries."

Neev stepped forward.

"And now it has chosen you."

Ella shook her head.

"I don't want this."

Ana smiled sadly.

"Destiny does not ask permission."

Ella reached toward the crystal.

The moment her fingers touched it...

Memories flooded her mind.

She saw Hollow Valley before the war.

Vampires, werewolves, and witches living together peacefully.

She saw three little boys laughing together.

Max.

Alex.

Dave.

Then everything changed.

Lucian appeared.

Darkness covered the valley.

The brothers screamed as black power entered their bodies.

Seraphina cried while begging the witches to save her sons.

Ella fell to her knees.

"They weren't born evil."

Ana nodded.

"They were victims."

Tears filled Ella's eyes.

"Max has been fighting Lucian since he was a child."

"Yes."

The crystal glowed brighter.

"But only the Fourth Blood can free them."

Outside the temple, the battle continued.

Kieran looked toward the golden light surrounding Ella.

"The Sanctuary has accepted her."

He raised both hands.

Every shadow soldier rushed toward Ella at once.

"Stop her!"

Ronan roared.

"Werewolves! Hold the line!"

Selene shouted.

"Vampires! Protect the witches!"

James stood in front of the golden light.

"No one gets through."

Shadow soldiers crashed against him from every direction.

Zake fought beside him.

Dave jumped into the middle of the enemy army, laughing while destroying everything around him.

Alex protected Mira while she continued chanting.

Max stood alone against Kieran.

Their battle shook the entire valley.

Kieran smiled.

"You've become weaker."

Max answered with another punch.

"You talk too much."

Blue energy exploded.

Kieran was pushed backward again.

For the first time...

Fear crossed Kieran's face.

The golden light suddenly exploded.

Ella returned.

She landed gently on the ground.

The mark on her palm had changed.

Four glowing circles surrounded a bright golden moon.

Every shadow creature screamed.

Golden chains burst from the earth and wrapped around hundreds of enemies.

Within seconds, they turned into black ash.

Silence fell across Hollow Valley.

Mira stared at Ella.

"The Heart Crystal chose her."

Max looked at Ella in disbelief.

Her power felt ancient.

Different.

Beautiful.

Ella looked toward Max.

Before she could speak...

Max collapsed onto one knee.

The poison from Kieran's sword spread across his chest.

Black veins reached his neck.

"Max!" Alex shouted.

Dave ran toward him.

His healing wasn't working.

Mira's face became pale.

"Shadow King's poison."

James looked frightened.

"Can he survive?"

Mira slowly shook her head.

"Not without the Fourth Blood."

Ella didn't hesitate.

She knelt beside Max and placed her glowing hand on his wound.

Golden light poured into his body.

The black poison stopped spreading.

Max opened his eyes slowly.

He looked directly at Ella.

"You saved me."

Before Ella could answer...

A terrifying roar echoed across the mountains.

The Blood Moon darkened.

Every warrior looked toward the northern cliffs.

The mountains cracked apart.

Darkness rose into the sky.

Kieran smiled despite his defeat.

"You're too late."

A cold voice echoed through Hollow Valley.

"My children... I'm coming."

Max's face lost all color.

"Lucian."

The First Hybrid had awakened.

And he was coming to Hollow Valley.
