Chapter 1: The Day the Monsters Returned
The Blood Moon had not appeared for five hundred years. Old legends claimed that when the moon turned crimson, the prison beneath Hollow Valley would awaken, and the three monsters who once ruled the supernatural world would return. Children laughed at the story. Warriors dismissed it as a myth. Kings believed the witches had destroyed those monsters forever. They were wrong. A deep crack echoed beneath Hollow Valley. Ancient chains wrapped around three stone thrones began glowing with black light. Golden runes carved by the three legendary witches flickered one after another, losing the power they had held for centuries. The first chain shattered. A pair of glowing blue eyes opened in the darkness. Max Draven slowly lifted his head. His black hair fell across his face as he took his first breath in five hundred years. The air smelled different. The world smelled different. "We're free," he whispered. Another chain broke. A second man stood from his throne. Silver hair, cold blue eyes, and a calm expression made Alex Draven look more like a king than a prisoner. "How long have we been asleep?" Alex asked. Max looked toward the ceiling where crimson light leaked through the cracks. "The Blood Moon returned." Alex understood immediately. "Five hundred years..." A loud laugh echoed through the prison. The final throne exploded into pieces. Dave Draven stepped out of the darkness with a wild grin on his face. "I told both of you this seal wouldn't hold forever." He stretched his arms as black energy surrounded him. "I've waited centuries for this day." Max walked toward the broken gate of the prison. The golden runes burned his skin for a second before turning into ash. "The witches are gone." Alex frowned. "Or their magic has finally weakened." Dave kicked the enormous stone gate. It shattered. The three brothers walked into the ruins of Hollow Valley. For the first time in five centuries, the Hybrid Kings stood beneath the Blood Moon. --- Far away, Blackwood Village celebrated the Blood Moon Festival. The werewolf clans hunted through the forest while vampire musicians filled the streets with music. The kingdoms had lived in peace for generations. No one believed monsters still existed. Alpha Ronan Blackwood stood on the village wall watching the crimson moon. Something felt wrong. The wolves inside the forest suddenly stopped howling. Every bird flew away at once. The wind became cold. Ronan's eyes narrowed. "Something is coming." A guard ran toward him. "Alpha, the forest has gone silent." Ronan grabbed his sword. "Sound the warning bells." The bells rang across the village. Celebration turned into panic. --- Back in Hollow Valley, Max knelt and touched the ground. Thousands of voices echoed inside his mind. "Werewolves." "Vampires." "Witches." "They survived." Alex watched him carefully. "What do you hear?" "The world remembers our blood." Dave smiled. "Then let's remind them who we are." Before Max answered, he suddenly froze. A strange heartbeat echoed louder than every other sound. Different. Ancient. Powerful. His blue eyes widened. "There is another blood." Alex looked confused. "What blood?" Max stood immediately. "The Fourth Blood." The air exploded around them. Blue lightning raced across the valley. Dave's smile disappeared. "The prophecy..." Max turned toward the distant mountains. "It survived." --- Night grew darker as the three brothers walked through the forest. Shadow creatures appeared between the trees and immediately bowed before them. "My King," they whispered. Max ignored them. "Who commands you now?" The creatures answered together. "Lucian." The name filled the forest with fear. Alex gripped his sword. "He's alive." Dave looked toward Max. "I thought the witches sealed him too." "They did." Max's voice became colder. "If Lucian has servants, then his prison is breaking." The shadow creatures suddenly screamed. Black smoke poured from their bodies before they exploded into ash. A voice echoed through the trees. "Welcome back... my sons." The brothers turned at once. No one was there. Only darkness. Max clenched his fists. "Lucian." The voice laughed before disappearing. --- Blackwood Village prepared for battle. Ronan ordered every werewolf warrior to guard the gates. Vampire Elder Selene arrived with her soldiers. "This better not be another false alarm." Ronan pointed toward the forest. "Listen." Silence. There wasn't a single animal sound. Selene's confident expression disappeared. "I've never heard the forest this quiet." The ground suddenly shook. Trees crashed. A giant shadow wolf burst out of the darkness. Its body was twice the size of a normal wolf, covered in black smoke and glowing red veins. It attacked without hesitation. Werewolf warriors rushed forward. The creature killed three of them with one swing. Selene shouted, "Protect the civilians!" The village exploded into chaos. --- Max stood on a cliff overlooking the burning village. Smoke rose into the night sky. Dave looked excited. "Should we join the fight?" Alex remained silent. Max watched the shadow wolf. "It serves Lucian." "Then kill it." Max disappeared. A blue flash crossed the battlefield. The shadow wolf flew through a stone wall and crashed into the ground. Everyone stopped fighting. Max stood between the monster and the villagers. His blue eyes glowed beneath the Blood Moon. The monster lowered its head. "The Hybrid King..." Max spoke only one word. "Die." Blue energy exploded from his hand. The creature turned into black ash. Silence filled the village. Every werewolf and vampire stared at the stranger who had destroyed the monster with one attack. Ronan whispered the name from the oldest legend. "Max Draven." Fear spread across the crowd. "The Three Hybrids..." Alex and Dave stepped onto the battlefield beside Max. Three brothers. Three impossible hybrids. The monsters had returned. Max looked across the terrified village. "We're not your enemies." Before anyone could answer, a deafening roar echoed from deep inside Hollow Valley. The Blood Moon glowed even brighter. Max's expression changed instantly. "Lucian is awake." The real nightmare had only just begun.
