Chapter 7: The Ancient Gate Opens

The Ancient Gate continued to rise.

A deafening rumble shook Hollow Valley as the enormous black gate emerged from beneath the mountains. It was taller than the highest cliff, covered with ancient silver runes that glowed beneath the Blood Moon.

Everyone stopped fighting.

Even the Shadow Soldiers looked toward the gate.

Cold wind poured from the darkness behind it, carrying whispers that sounded like thousands of lost souls.

Mira's face turned white.

"It has never opened this far before."

Max stared at the gate without blinking.

"Lucian is breaking the seal."

Alex tightened his grip on his sword.

"If the gate opens completely..."

"The ancient world will return," Mira finished.

Dave cracked his neck.

"Then we'll close it before that happens."

Kieran laughed.

"You still believe you can stop destiny."

The Shadow General lifted both hands.

Dark portals opened across Hollow Valley.

Hundreds of new Shadow Soldiers climbed out of the ground, surrounding the Blood Altar.

Ronan raised his sword.

"Werewolves! Protect the altar!"

The wolves rushed forward.

Selene pointed toward the western cliffs.

"Vampires! Hold the shadows back!"

The witches formed another golden circle around the altar while Mira continued chanting.

Ella stood in the middle of the circle.

The golden mark on her palm glowed brighter than ever.

"It hurts."

Mira looked at her.

"The Heart Crystal is reacting to the gate."

Max charged toward Kieran.

Blue energy exploded around him.

Their fists collided with enough force to split the ground.

Kieran smiled.

"Your anger makes you stronger."

"It makes me dangerous."

Max punched him across the battlefield.

Kieran crashed through a stone pillar before standing again.

Alex appeared behind Kieran and slashed across his back.

Dark blood hit the ground.

Dave attacked from the front, driving Kieran into the earth.

The three brothers fought together with perfect timing.

For a moment...

Kieran was overwhelmed.

A loud roar interrupted the battle.

The Ancient Gate shook violently.

A gigantic black hand reached through the opening.

Every warrior froze.

James whispered,

"What is that?"

Mira answered in fear.

"An ancient guardian."

The hand disappeared as quickly as it appeared.

But everyone understood.

Something was trying to enter their world.

Ella suddenly heard Ana's voice.

"Go to the gate."

She looked toward the darkness.

"It wants me."

James stepped in front of her.

"You're not going anywhere."

"If I don't..."

"The gate will keep opening."

Max heard those words.

He turned immediately.

"No."

Ella looked at him.

"I have to."

Max shook his head.

"I'll find another way."

Ella's voice became firm.

"There isn't another way."

For the first time, Max had no answer.

Kieran saw the hesitation.

He smiled.

"This is your weakness."

He rushed toward Ella.

Max disappeared in a blue flash and blocked him.

The impact sent both men sliding backward.

Kieran whispered,

"She'll either save the world..."

"...or kill you."

Max's expression hardened.

"I don't care."

He attacked with even greater power.

Blue lightning filled Hollow Valley.

Meanwhile, Alex fought through dozens of Shadow Soldiers to reach the Blood Altar.

Dave joined him, destroying enemies with brutal strength.

The brothers stood beside Ella.

"We're staying together," Alex said.

Dave nodded.

"No one touches our side."

Ella looked at the three brothers.

For the first time, she saw them not as monsters...

But as brothers protecting each other.

The Blood Altar began glowing.

Ancient symbols rose into the sky.

Golden light connected the altar to the Ancient Gate.

Mira gasped.

"The altar is creating a path."

Ella slowly walked toward it.

Every step made the light brighter.

The ground trembled beneath her feet.

Shadow Soldiers screamed as the golden light burned them.

Kieran roared,

"Stop her!"

He broke free from Max and charged again.

James transformed into a giant white wolf and tackled Kieran before he reached Ella.

The two rolled across the battlefield.

Kieran threw James into a rock wall.

James stood again despite his injuries.

"I won't let you pass."

Kieran smiled coldly.

"You've got courage."

He blasted James away with dark magic.

Ronan rushed to protect his son.

Selene fought beside them, cutting down Shadow Soldiers one after another.

The alliance refused to retreat.

Mira continued chanting.

Golden chains rose from the altar and wrapped around the Ancient Gate.

The gate stopped opening.

For a few seconds.

Silence.

Then...

The chains shattered.

A powerful voice echoed from beyond the darkness.

"Max."

The voice was calm.

Ancient.

Terrifying.

Max froze.

Alex looked toward him.

"Don't listen."

Lucian spoke again.

"Come home, my sons."

Dave covered his ears.

"Get out of my head!"

The voice grew louder.

Dark energy surrounded the three brothers.

For a moment, Max saw visions of his childhood.

Seraphina smiling.

Lucian reaching toward them.

Golden chains.

Fire.

Max roared as blue energy exploded from his body, destroying the illusion.

"We are not yours!"

The valley shook.

Lucian laughed.

"Then prove it."

The Ancient Gate opened wider.

A wave of darkness swept across Hollow Valley.

Shadow Soldiers became stronger.

The alliance began losing ground.

Mira looked at Ella.

"It's time."

Ella stepped onto the center of the Blood Altar.

The golden mark became four glowing circles around her wrist.

She raised her hand.

A pillar of golden light shot into the sky.

The Blood Moon glowed brighter.

Every witch fell to one knee.

Ronan and Selene stopped fighting for a heartbeat.

Kieran's eyes widened.

"The Fourth Blood has awakened again."

Golden chains burst from the earth, wrapping around the Ancient Gate.

The gate began closing slowly.

Darkness fought against the light.

The entire valley shook violently.

Max, Alex, and Dave stood together in front of Ella, protecting her while she continued the ritual.

Lucian's furious roar echoed beyond the gate.

"THIS IS NOT OVER!"

The chains tightened.

The gate moved another inch.

But before it could close completely...

A pair of glowing silver eyes appeared inside the darkness.

Max's heart stopped.

Lucian had reached the gate.

And he was about to step into their world.
