Liam rubbed his temples and waved a dismissive hand.
"Alright, alright. I'm glad you didn't really do that... Make big moves in silence. That’s how we do things.”
“And Amnon, thanks for holding down the fort these past five years. I know it wasn’t easy."
Since Liam was gone, Amnon had been taking care of his business.
Beneath his greasy delivery uniform, Liam was actually the heir to one of the world’s most powerful hidden families.
He had inherited control at just thirteen. And in five years, he turned the family into a global force that operated in the shadows.
Its wealth so vast it didn’t even appear on Forbes’ lists. Because Forbes couldn’t measure infinity.
Amnon smiled warmly. "Young Master, you’ve lost weight, got tanner… but your eyes are sharper than ever!"
Liam chuckled, clapping Amnon on the shoulder.
"Stop trying to make me feel better. Five years in the trenches will do that to any man.”
“Now that I’m back, it’s time to visit the company.”
“Oh, and handle the photos and videos those people took. I’m not ready to go public just yet."
Amnon nodded. "Consider it done, Young Master."
Liam slid into the Lamborghini, exhaling as the door shut. A quote suddenly crossed his mind:
‘Money may not buy happiness, but I’d rather cry in a Lambo.’
It was a meme he’d seen online years ago, one he’d laughed at back then.
Now he realized the joke had been on him all along.
"Young Master," Amnon broke Liam's thoughts, "For years, Titan Corp has been secretly supporting the Nina and her family.”
“That’s how they went from nobodies to Riverside City elites in five short years.”
“And yet… that woman still betrayed you. Should we cut ties with them?"
Liam’s gaze turned cold.
"Nina’s got talent, I won’t deny that. But since we’re done, Titan Corp has no reason to back them anymore."
Amnon let out a breath, clearly relieved by Liam’s decision.
Halfway to TitanCorp, Amnon received a call. It was urgent business and it had to be dealt by Amnon.
He insisted on dropping Liam off first, but Liam waved him off.
"Go handle it. I’ll get there on my own. Honestly, all this grandeur is a bit much for me right now. I’ll take my scooter. Less hassle."
Amnon hesitated, but in the end, he obeyed.
As Liam sped off on his motor scooter, Amnon watched, a rare smile tugging at his lips.
"The old master would be proud Mr. Liam."
Liam had always been a prodigy. His grandfather, the patriarch of the family, had handed him the reins early, trusting in his potential.
But during college, the old man decided Liam need to live an ordinary life.
That’s where he met Nina, the woman who made him believe in love, in a different future. He had married her, cut ties with his past, and chosen a simple life.
His grandfather hadn’t stopped him. Now, Liam finally understood why.
Eventually, he saw her inside.
As the car pulled up to Titan Corp, memories flooded.
This company had been his first true test, the one his grandfather threw at him when it was on the brink of collapse.
Under his leadership, it not only survived. It dominated.
Now, it stood as the nation’s top enterprise, valued at over hundred billion.
Parking his scooter, Liam stared up at the skyscraper, nostalgia and pride swelling in his chest.
Just as he was about to step inside--
"Hey! Liam?! What the hell are you doing here? Are you here delivery pizza?”
“Perfect timing! I’ve been looking for you!"
A sharp, mocking voice cut through the air.
Liam sighed. He knew that voice.
Kevin Nolan.
Nina’s younger brother strutted toward him, arrogance oozing from every step. A pack of lackeys followed, laughing like hyenas.
Liam turned, his expression unreadable. "What do you want, Kevin?"
Kevin sneered, shoved Liam hard in the chest.
"Oh, look at you, acting normal? Not leeching off my sister now? Is this the way how you suppose to talk to me?"
Liam sidestepped, avoiding the touch.
"And you should check out your manner, young boy."
Kevin barked out a laugh, his goons joining in.
"Listen to this asshole!”
“For five years, he was just my sister’s lapdog, wagging his tail whenever she called.”
“And now he thinks he's some kind of big shot?”
Kevin let out a low chuckle to Liam, shaking his head like he’d just witnessed the funniest thing in the world.
“Newsflash, Liam! Stand all you want, you’re still just a dog."
One of Kevin’s lackeys smirked.
"Yeah, in the world of money, a broke guy like you isn’t even worth the dirt on our shoes. What the hell are you so proud of?"
Kevin scoffed along with them, suddenly spitting on the ground.
"You know what, Liam, he is right. I can give you a very good chance to earn some tips!"
He pointed the spit when he smirked at Liam.
"If you lick that clean, and I’ll give you ten grand bucks. Sound good?"

Chapter 58
Liam had no choice but to change the plan for escorting the token. They waited in the dock until nine, gathered everyone, had a hearty meal, and got in peak condition before driving back to Riverside. From the airport to the city, avoiding major traffic routes, there were three national highways and six provincial roads leading to their destination. The enemy was in the dark, while they were in the light, so Liam couldn’t afford to alert anyone or cause any civilian casualties.Otherwise, the enemies might slip away without a trace, while they’d be left dealing with a whole mess of problems. For this reason, Liam chose a provincial road that was relatively close and seldom traveled. But there were two spots along this road that were perfect for ambushes. Before reaching this road, Liam had already spent hours on the national highway. As they neared a three-way intersection by the highway, he suddenly turned onto a mountain path. They passed through a small village and arrived at the p

The plaque was intricately carved with dragon claws, with a large “L” character in seal script at the center, and a smaller “S” underneath. The back of the plaque shimmered, engraved with the words "G.""Yes, that’s it," Chloe said, her eyes gleaming as she nodded to the burly man."Chloe, the mercenary contract is now concluded."The burly man seemed uninterested in the plaque. With a wave, he turned and strutted back to his vehicle. As the cars disappeared from view, Nicolas and the others finally exhaled in relief."Continue to stay alert!" Liam ordered, before turning and walking back toward the dock with Chloe.Chloe carefully toyed with the plaque in her hands, her expression one of deep respect.Liam raised an eyebrow. "Chloe, were the Litsgon ancestors royal guards or something?""You figured it out?" Chloe asked, surprised."I’m no fool," Liam grinned. "I may not have seen the real deal, but I’ve watched enough period dramas. I heard that the real imperial tokens are worth mil

Liam nodded knowingly. "International-level mercenaries aren't always foreign. Mercenaries with our nationality aren't monitored as strictly, as long as they're not doing anything illegal. They can run businesses just like anyone else, as long as they stay within the law." He patted Chloe’s shoulder. "Chloe, don’t worry. Even if things go sideways during the handoff, I’ll make sure you’re safe." "But the token is more important than me, I..." Chloe trailed off. Liam cut her off. "Chloe, if the worst happens, I’ll make sure you're safe and destroy the token in the shortest time possible." Chloe’s eyes widened. "Liam, you mean burn it all down?" "It won’t be that dramatic," Liam waved off the idea. "But you have to promise me you won’t hold it against me, or I won’t do it." "Let... let’s see what happens," Chloe said, her voice wavering slightly. They sat in the corner of the dock, speaking softly for a while. Half an hour later, Nicolas' deep voice crackled through their e

Liam nodded and addressed the rest of the group. "You stay as you are, adapt as needed. Ensure the enemy can’t get close to the target!" "Yes, sir!" The mercenaries shouted together. Nicolas looked concerned. With three snipers now on the team, including Liam, the balance and coordination of their team could be disrupted. Chloe and Jack stood nearby, listening to Liam's commands. Their respect for him had skyrocketed. This guy knew military operations like the back of his hand. He was definitely no ordinary person! There had to be a legendary story behind him. "Alright, Mr. Lee, we're ready to go," Chloe checked her watch. "By 8 PM, my family's token will be arriving at the International Airport." "We’re changing routes?" Liam frowned. "Yeah, we have no choice," Chloe nodded. "Other members of my family are onto me now. I’m not sure who I can trust, so I need to prepare early." "Alright," Liam agreed. He’d done thorough research on the Nightton area, and several covert route
Chapter 54
Captain Nicolas looked up and saw Liam lying flat on the ground, his shoulder resting on the PSG rifle, the infrared scope already activated."Still aiming for the left heart.""Damn it!"Jack and Chloe exchanged a look, both filled with excitement."Liam is crushing Captain Nicolas! He's completely dominating!""This is amazing! Looks like Liam is the key factor for tonight's operation!"As the saying goes, amateurs watch for the spectacle, but experts look for the subtleties. The other seven mercenaries stood stunned, speechless with shock. They all knew Captain Nicolas’ skills.Sure, he was bulky, but his reaction time and handling ability were top-notch, otherwise, he wouldn’t have earned the respect of the team. But that scrawny young man had just outperformed Captain Nicolas in both reaction time and skill by a full second—maybe two!In the mercenary world, if you’re even a fraction of a second faster than your opponent, it could decide life or death.Yet here, Captain Nicolas,

His voice dropped low, "Brother, I’ve never heard of you before. Where did you train?""Just some nobody, trained on my own at home," Liam said, walking casually over to the long table. The table was lined with some of the most common firearms and gear on the market.Liam glanced over, then pulled a scoped assault rifle from one of the cases.
