Brian was infuriated, gnashing his teeth as his eyes kept on burning with rage.

“You both are going to regret this!” He pointed at them one after the other, but they called his bluff.

They laughed so hard that they began to cough, almost losing their balance.

“I already said it, Brian…” Romeo stated, taking a deep breath.

“You are a clown, and I think starting a career as a Stand-up comedian is going to suit you…”

“Damn right!” Pearl nodded in agreement, refusing to get rid of her mockery.

“Romeo is ten times the man you will ever be, Brian. The earlier you understand that this marriage is over, the better for you.”

Brian felt another deadly sting inside his chest, a hot agony that burned inside his chest.

His mouth refused to close, yet he was dumbfounded.

“I think it’s time for you to leave, Brian…” Pearl said, her voice reeking with peskiness.

“Give us some privacy. I still need to cum.”

Brian watched her come closer, and before he could say a word, she had already begun to push him out of the room.

“Don’t even bother coming back to work, Brian! You are fired!” Romeo sacked him, angrily pointing at him.

Brian stood behind the entrance, eyes on Pearl with tears still trickling down his face.

“You don’t know the plans I had for you, Pearl. You have just lost a treasure all because of a moment of fun.”

“What stupid plans, Brian?! You are just talking trash!” Pearl rolled her eyes again, and then she grabbed the door.

“I wish I had never met you! I wish I didn’t have to put up with an incompetent man like you!” She slammed the door to his face, and then she returned to continue from where she stopped.

Brian stood there for a while, his heart still beating like talking drums.

Then he laughed bitterly, sniffling to suppress his tears.

Eventually, he decided to walk away, staggering out of the edifice.

His brows furrowed when he saw the black Porsche parked in front of the building.

The number plate- REGAL, was boldly written, confirming his thoughts.

A few seconds later, the driver stepped out and opened the back door.

An old man alighted from the car, adjusting his gray jacket as he marched toward Brian.

He bowed, expressing deep reverence and a little nervousness.

“Master Brian…” His tone was shaky, and just as he had expected, Brian’s face was twisted in annoyance.

“What are you doing here, Diego?” Brian questioned, wiping the tears on his face.

“I am sorry, Master Brian…” Diego took a deep breath, and then he cleared his throat to get rid of the clog that gripped him.

“I just needed to make sure that they didn’t hurt you. Those two idiots!” He grunted, balling his right fist.

“You knew?” Brian arched his brows, looking Diego in the eyes.

The old man looked away, bending his face to the ground.

“I wasn’t sure at first, Young Master.” He explained, his voice still unstable.

“But I always knew that Pearl Stuttgart couldn’t be trusted. After all, she only agreed to marry you because her grandfather threatened to disown her if she refused.”

The old man tutted, shaking his head with a pissed countenance.

“If only she knew that you are the reason why her family business has been lifted from bankruptcy since she got married to you…”

“That remains a secret, Diego,” Brian warned, pointing the old man in the face.

“Of course…” Diego nodded, and then he took a deep breath.

“What now, Master Brian? What are your intentions?”

“Hmmm…” Brian cupped his chin, drifting for a few seconds.

Suddenly, a wry smile appeared on his face, spreading across his lips.

“I have the perfect plan, Diego. They are both going to pay for this.” He swore, causing the old man to nod in satisfaction.

“Cancel all the plans I had for Pearl and her family, and stop all pending investments with City Global.”

“Yes, Master Brian…” The old man bowed, delight still written all over his face.

“One more thing…” He gulped noisily, uncertain of the outcome of what he was about to say.

Brian’s countenance was deadpan, making it hard to tell what his thought was.

“Your Grandfather, Master Brian. He really wants you to come back. He is sorry…”

Brian grunted, anger brewing inside him.

“Tell him my answer remains the same, Diego…” He retorted calmly, walking toward his car.

The old man followed at once, struggling with his weak bones.

“But, Master Brian…” He panted after the brief sprint, and then he looked at the trash can called a car.

“Unbelievable…” He muttered, realizing that the car was even more ugly from a closer glance.

“How can the richest and most powerful man in this country be driving this?” He pointed, shaking his head slowly.

“Please come home, Master Brian. Enough of this façade…” He paused for a few seconds just to be sure that Brian was not more infuriated than he already was.

“You said you needed just five years to know what it feels like to be a nobody, and also find a good woman to marry. Five years have gone by, and I think you should come home.”

Brian grunted, and then he took a deep breath.

“Apparently, I still haven’t gotten a good woman…” He shuddered, draining the little anticipatory hope the old man had.

“Tell the old man that I will not be coming home anytime soon. I may have forgiven him, but I still haven’t forgotten the pain.” He sighed in despair, the hurtful memories hitting him as he grabbed the handle of the old car.

“He is dying!”

  • Admiration Withdrawn

“I am sorry. I can’t do that.” Winnie was quick to respond, then a snort followed.“I think you should leave, Mr. Regal. My boss is busy at the moment. He won’t be able to see you.”“But you just told me a while ago that he was less busy,” Brian argued, his face attacked by patches of frustration. “That was before I realized that he was too busy to see someone as unimportant as you.” Winnie didn’t hide her disdain. She looked at Brian like he was a piece of rag, glaring from the crown of his head, down to the sole of his shoes. It didn’t matter if he looked presentable or not, his name was a representation of failure and a man who had acted foolishly. Brian swallowed everything in good faith. After all, he was the one who brought everything upon himself. No one forced him to sell his company, not even to the highest bidder, but to the first person who offered to purchase it for a few million dollars. “I guess I deserve that.” He took a deep breath, yet his determination

  • Greeenfield Co

Brian stood in front of the tall building, both regret and annoyance simmering inside him. The company had been renamed from SilverLine Tech to Greenfield Co after he sold it in a desperate attempt to please his ex-wife. “All for nothing…” He muttered in despair, a heavy sigh escaping his lungs. Then he began to march toward the entrance, each step feeling heavier than the last. For some reason, the guards at the casement door didn’t stop him, probably because he was dressed differently- like a businessman or important personnel. They didn’t even recognize him, not even a glimpse of who he was. Brian continued moving slowly until he arrived at the reception. The young lady seated in front of the large screen was blowing hard on ballooned gum, biting hard even when she had sucked all the juice. Her fingers were clicking hard on the keyboard, but she had to stop when she saw Brian approaching. “Hello, Sir!” She said with a smile, her eyes flashing with pure admiration.

“You have to believe it, Arya. I just did.” Brian held onto his smile, and then he took a deep breath.“But why?” Arya couldn’t let it go, the intense desire to know the truth. “Let’s just say that I have finally found a purpose.” “Oh…” Arya pretended to be satisfied by Brian’s response for the second time, nodding with a deadpan expression.“I am very sorry that you were not invited to the celebration. But I am grateful that you did a great job. I will send you the balance once I am settled.” Brian chuckled softly, causing Arya’s expression to drop. The lady was already asking why he was laughing with her eyes. “Don’t worry, Arya. You can give me the balance. At the party.”“You are coming?” Arya inquired with arched brows, staring even when Brian nodded.“Yes. And I will be coming with some flowers for my future wife.” “But…” “You don’t have to say anything, Arya.” Brian stopped her before she could continue with her slippery voice, still holding onto his confident

  • Uninvited

Arya shook her head frantically, but the truth was the truth. It was hanging in the air like their breath, soaring all around her.“He is a nobody, Grandpa. Brian is my husband, and getting this deal wouldn’t have been possible without him.” “No…” Don Pedro retorted with a cold tone, pupils contrasted in annoyance.“You will bring no shame to the Kirk family, child…” He took a deep breath, then he breathed annoyance. “This…” He pointed at Brian, in search of the right noun to use. “This leech will certainly not be my grandson-in-law. You had better divorce him now that it is early.” “I agree…” Travis nodded, smiling as though he was going to get a reward for it. “I am sure that he would want to reap where he did not sow. That’s what wretched men like him do.” Brian slowly pulled down his right hand, returning it to his side.He inhaled sharply, ignoring Travis and turning to the old man. “I think you are mistaken, Mr. Kirk. I am not a nobody, I am…”“I don’t care.”

  • The Kirks

“Who are you talking about?” Brian asked with a soft tone, but when he realized that he wasn’t going to get a response by just asking, he decided to turn toward the same direction Arya was looking. He saw them. An old man probably in his early seventies, a young man in his early thirties, and six bodyguards who were bouncing behind them. The two men in front were dressed in the same tuxedos, looking like the old and young versions of each other. From the way people stared and pointed, Brian could already tell who they were. “Let me guess…” He slowly returned his gaze to Arya, catching sight of the worry on her face.“That’s your Grandpa, and your brother.”“You guessed right.” Arya let out a heavy sigh, yet she couldn’t attain relief.“I wonder what they are doing here, Brian. It’s been barely thirty minutes since the close of the event.” Arya kept on staring, but she couldn’t look either of the two men in the eyes. She looked above them, but that didn’t look like it was

  • The Response

“Hello.” Arya waved at the couple, a smirk plastered across her face. Pearl snorted, disgruntlement etched on her face. “Have you come to make fun of us?”“No! Not at all!” Arya shook her head, yet she refused to discard her wry smile. “Why would I do such a thing?” She asked silently, moving her eyes from Pearl to Romeo, and back to Pearl. “As a matter of fact, I have come to sympathize with both of you. Not every day do we get to see people get so disappointed and yet stand courageous like you.” She tutted continuously, shaking her head with a palpable sneer. Her words stung the couple as though a hive of bees had attacked them, their temper rising as they scowled at her. “What did you do to make Mr. Adkins put your name on the list?” Romeo asked, but Pearl interrupted before Arya could decide if she was going to respond or not. “Did you sleep with him?” Her voice was cold, her glaring eyes demanding an immediate response, refusing to even blink. Arya scoffed, and
