Brian was infuriated, gnashing his teeth as his eyes kept on burning with rage.
“You both are going to regret this!” He pointed at them one after the other, but they called his bluff. They laughed so hard that they began to cough, almost losing their balance. “I already said it, Brian…” Romeo stated, taking a deep breath. “You are a clown, and I think starting a career as a Stand-up comedian is going to suit you…” “Damn right!” Pearl nodded in agreement, refusing to get rid of her mockery. “Romeo is ten times the man you will ever be, Brian. The earlier you understand that this marriage is over, the better for you.” Brian felt another deadly sting inside his chest, a hot agony that burned inside his chest. His mouth refused to close, yet he was dumbfounded. “I think it’s time for you to leave, Brian…” Pearl said, her voice reeking with peskiness. “Give us some privacy. I still need to cum.” Brian watched her come closer, and before he could say a word, she had already begun to push him out of the room. “Don’t even bother coming back to work, Brian! You are fired!” Romeo sacked him, angrily pointing at him. Brian stood behind the entrance, eyes on Pearl with tears still trickling down his face. “You don’t know the plans I had for you, Pearl. You have just lost a treasure all because of a moment of fun.” “What stupid plans, Brian?! You are just talking trash!” Pearl rolled her eyes again, and then she grabbed the door. “I wish I had never met you! I wish I didn’t have to put up with an incompetent man like you!” She slammed the door to his face, and then she returned to continue from where she stopped. Brian stood there for a while, his heart still beating like talking drums. Then he laughed bitterly, sniffling to suppress his tears. Eventually, he decided to walk away, staggering out of the edifice. His brows furrowed when he saw the black Porsche parked in front of the building. The number plate- REGAL, was boldly written, confirming his thoughts. A few seconds later, the driver stepped out and opened the back door. An old man alighted from the car, adjusting his gray jacket as he marched toward Brian. He bowed, expressing deep reverence and a little nervousness. “Master Brian…” His tone was shaky, and just as he had expected, Brian’s face was twisted in annoyance. “What are you doing here, Diego?” Brian questioned, wiping the tears on his face. “I am sorry, Master Brian…” Diego took a deep breath, and then he cleared his throat to get rid of the clog that gripped him. “I just needed to make sure that they didn’t hurt you. Those two idiots!” He grunted, balling his right fist. “You knew?” Brian arched his brows, looking Diego in the eyes. The old man looked away, bending his face to the ground. “I wasn’t sure at first, Young Master.” He explained, his voice still unstable. “But I always knew that Pearl Stuttgart couldn’t be trusted. After all, she only agreed to marry you because her grandfather threatened to disown her if she refused.” The old man tutted, shaking his head with a pissed countenance. “If only she knew that you are the reason why her family business has been lifted from bankruptcy since she got married to you…” “That remains a secret, Diego,” Brian warned, pointing the old man in the face. “Of course…” Diego nodded, and then he took a deep breath. “What now, Master Brian? What are your intentions?” “Hmmm…” Brian cupped his chin, drifting for a few seconds. Suddenly, a wry smile appeared on his face, spreading across his lips. “I have the perfect plan, Diego. They are both going to pay for this.” He swore, causing the old man to nod in satisfaction. “Cancel all the plans I had for Pearl and her family, and stop all pending investments with City Global.” “Yes, Master Brian…” The old man bowed, delight still written all over his face. “One more thing…” He gulped noisily, uncertain of the outcome of what he was about to say. Brian’s countenance was deadpan, making it hard to tell what his thought was. “Your Grandfather, Master Brian. He really wants you to come back. He is sorry…” Brian grunted, anger brewing inside him. “Tell him my answer remains the same, Diego…” He retorted calmly, walking toward his car. The old man followed at once, struggling with his weak bones. “But, Master Brian…” He panted after the brief sprint, and then he looked at the trash can called a car. “Unbelievable…” He muttered, realizing that the car was even more ugly from a closer glance. “How can the richest and most powerful man in this country be driving this?” He pointed, shaking his head slowly. “Please come home, Master Brian. Enough of this façade…” He paused for a few seconds just to be sure that Brian was not more infuriated than he already was. “You said you needed just five years to know what it feels like to be a nobody, and also find a good woman to marry. Five years have gone by, and I think you should come home.” Brian grunted, and then he took a deep breath. “Apparently, I still haven’t gotten a good woman…” He shuddered, draining the little anticipatory hope the old man had. “Tell the old man that I will not be coming home anytime soon. I may have forgiven him, but I still haven’t forgotten the pain.” He sighed in despair, the hurtful memories hitting him as he grabbed the handle of the old car. “He is dying!”Latest Chapter
The Vial
The nurse froze, standing right in front of the sick man. She could only roll her bulging eyes, struggling to catch her breath.“Is there any problem, sir?” Leon asked, staring at Brian. “No…” Brian shook his head while his eyes were still on the nurse. “What is that?” He pointed at the stainless steel, preparing to take a step forward. Leon scoffed. “That’s medication for Mr. Duncan, sir. You speak as though you are looking at something else…”“What kind of medication?” Brian questioned, and then he turned to give the Doctor a piercing stare. “I… I…” Leon stuttered, forced to take a deep breath. “I do not understand what you are saying, sir. I think you should allow the nurse to do her job. Mr. Duncan needs to be given those injections. They would make his blood pressure stable while we prepare him for surgery.” “Hmm?” Brian nodded, slowly returning his gaze to the nurse.“To keep his blood pressure stable, you say?”“Yes…” Leon gave a quick response, nodding to af
Considerable Wife
“What did you just say?” Diego’s eyes were widened, his jaw dropped while he stared at the lady.Any other person would have gasped, his eyes glaring with a rising annoyance. “I am sure I spoke plain English, Sir.” Wendy sounded a bit arrogant, rolling her eyes at the baby. “I heard your company is one of the top Tech companies in Lakeville. So paying a hundred million dollars in damages shouldn’t be a problem for you…” Brian scoffed, taking his eyes off the lady.Apart from the greed that was etched on the lady’s face, he could also sense her ignorance. “Do you know who I am?” He asked, pointing to himself while he maintained his wry smile. Wendy looked at him from hair to the soles of his shoes, and it seemed as though she was also making use of that opportunity to size him up.“I don’t know…” She muttered, returning her gaze to Brian’s face.“I am assuming that you are the Manager of the Company, and this man could be your driver.” She pointed to Diego without looking
Impending Lawsuit
“The Doctor says you are threatening to sue us…” Brian remarked, his voice barely above a whisper.Wendy arched her brows, turning to face the Doctor with wide eyes. She didn’t utter any sound, but it was already looking like she was about to deny that claim.“Is that right?” Brian inquired, his wry smile unwavering. Wendy still had her eyes on Leon, and when she was ready to speak, she cleared her throat twice before she turned to face the man who had questioned her.“Take a look at my husband, Sir…” She sniffled, leaving everyone stunned as a result of the tears that raced out of her eyes. “He was just working hard and trying to fend for his family. He promised me that he was going to be back early today so that he could massage my feet. Now look at him, lying there like a log of wood.” Her voice was shaky, and no matter how hard she sniffled, she couldn’t get rid of the tears that were trickling down her face. “Take it easy, Wendy…” Leon paused, instantly regretting his u
The Demand
“Yes!” Leon quickly got up, adjusted his coat, and moved toward Brian and Diego. He stood about a meter before them, yet he couldn’t lift his eyes to look at them.“Doctor?” Brian called out in a low tone, but that still couldn’t make the Doctor look up.“You seem to be very concerned about Miss Duncan. If I didn’t know any better, I would have concluded that you were her husband and not Cole here…” Leon instinctively lifted his face, but could only stare at Brian for a nanosecond. “I always make sure that my patients are in good health, Mr. Brian. Their welfare is my priority…” “Of course…” Brian chuckled softly, then he cleared his throat. “So…” He continued with a voice barely above a whisper, still giving the Doctor a piercing stare while his wry smile was still intact. “What’s the way forward? How do we take care of this man?” He pointed to Cole, the same concern glittering in his eyes. Before he could say even a word, Leon turned to Wendy as though she was the Do
The Worker’s Wife
The Concierge turned to face Brian at once, and then he sighed heavily. He didn’t need to be told that he was pissed, and even when their eyes met, he didn’t know what exactly to tell him. “Come on, Diego. Let’s go…” Brian broke his silence, and then he made his way out of the ward after one last look at the men in pain. He walked silently, following the Doctor who didn’t even care to look back. Brian had to walk as fast as he could the moment he saw the Doctor walking toward another hallway. Diego followed at once, but he was reminded of how weak his bones were getting. The Doctor walked into the emergency ward and left the door open.Brian joined him inside at once, turning his eyes toward the right corner of the large room. The man they had come to see lay on a stretcher, badly injured with his chest moving up and down. His entire body was covered in blood, the mask covering his mouth and nose seeming like the only thing still holding his breath. The bandages and p

“We are here to see them…” Diego pointed at the casement window, his eyes on the construction workers he could see. “Them?” The Doctor pointed as well, his eyes still on the old man. “Who are you to them, Sir? If I may ask…” His voice was low, yet his curiosity kept lingering in his wide eyes.Diego cleared his throat, turning to take a glance at Brian before he spoke. “They work for us, Doctor. The incident occurred in our site…” “Oh…” The Doctor switched his countenance in haste, but it was hard to really tell what he was thinking.First, he moved his gaze to Brian, staring at him as though he was attempting to read his mind.By the time he returned his gaze to the Concierge, there was a look of annoyance in his eyes, sparking slowly. “You are the reason why that young man is fighting for his life, Sir…” He fired shots of accusation with his eyes, staring deep into the Concierge’s orbs. “How could you?” He took a deep breath, showing a lingering disapproval.“How c
