The engine of the G-63 purred quietly as Caleb pulled into the underground parking garage of the Grand Sovereign Hotel.

The hotel was the playground of the city’s top one percent—a place where multimillion-dollar business deals were closed over vintage wine and where the real power brokers dictated the economy. Tonight, the hotel’s main ballroom was hosting the annual Sovereign Charity Auction, an event where the elite gathered to bid on rare real estate, artwork, and corporate shares.

Caleb cut the ignition, adjusted the cuffs of his dark charcoal suit, and checked his phone screen.

[Current Balance: $78,100,012.45] [System Points: 11,800]

A knock on the tinted driver's window made him look up. Standing outside was Mr. Sterling, holding a sleek leather briefcase and a golden VIP entry ticket.

Caleb opened the door and stepped out. "Is everything in place?"

"Everything has been arranged, Mr. Vance," Mr. Sterling said with a bow. "The organizers have cleared your registration. You hold the highest verified liquid credit line in the entire building tonight. The entire elite circle is buzzing about the mysterious buyer who liquidated Cole Logistics this morning."

"Good," Caleb said, taking the golden ticket. "Let's see who shows up to play."

The main ballroom was dazzling. Massive crystal chandeliers hung from the high ceilings, casting a warm, golden glow over hundreds of wealthy guests dressed in designer gowns and tuxedos. Champagne flowed freely, and quiet laughter filled the air.

Near the front row sat Julian Cole’s older brother, Hector Cole, along with several high-ranking board members of rival corporations. Hector was the true backbone of the Cole family enterprise—cold, calculating, and far more dangerous than his foolish younger brother. His right arm was wrapped in a black sling, a brutal reminder of the incident in the boardroom earlier that morning.

Beside Hector sat Mrs. Vance—Chloe’s mother, Evelyn Vance. Her face was caked in heavy makeup to cover her pale, anxious expression. She was desperately trying to secure a seat next to Hector, hoping to beg for a financial lifeline for her ruined family.

"Mr. Cole, please," Evelyn whispered, her voice trembling with desperate plea. "My husband's heart is failing, and the banks are liquidating our villa tomorrow morning! If you could just lend us five million to stabilize our payroll—"

"Shut your mouth, old woman," Hector snapped, his eyes cold as ice, not even bothering to look at her. "Your pathetic family drag my brother into ruin and caused my family to lose Cole Logistics in a single morning. If it weren't for the media present, I would have you thrown onto the street this instant."

Evelyn winced as if struck, tears of humiliation brimming in her eyes.

Right at that moment, the double mahogany doors at the back of the ballroom swung open.

The subtle clatter of champagne glasses quieted as a figure stepped into the hall. Escorted personally by the hotel’s general manager and four tall security guards, Caleb walked down the red-carpeted aisle. His posture was commanding, his presence so intense that conversations sputtered out as eyes followed him across the room.

[Ding!] [Shock & Awe Detected from Surrounding Targets.] [Converting Emotional Resonance into System Points...] [Received: +2,800 System Points!]

Evelyn turned around, and when her eyes landed on Caleb, her breath caught in her throat. She gripped the velvet armrest so hard her knuckles turned white.

"C-Caleb?!" she gasped, her voice choking.

The penniless boy she had forced to wash dishes, the worthless son-in-law she had kicked out into the rain without a dime, was walking like a monarch among the city's highest elite.

Caleb didn't give her a single glance. He walked straight past her row, his eyes fixing on Hector Cole. He took his seat in the center of the front-row VIP booth—a spot reserved exclusively for the night's wealthiest guest.

Hector turned his head slowly, his eyes narrowing into venomous slits as he glared at Caleb. "So, you're the trash who twisted my brother's arm and played tricks with our debt portfolio."

Caleb leaned back into the plush leather seating, resting his hand casually on his knee.

"Tricks?" Caleb said, his voice smooth, low, and carrying clearly over the gentle hum of the room. "I bought your debt because it was cheap. Just like I’m going to buy everything else your family owns tonight."

Hector let out a harsh, cold laugh. "You think having a few tens of millions makes you untouchable in this city? You're an outsider playing with fire, kid. Tonight, the item on the block is the prime commercial license for the North Harbor District. I brought two hundred million in credit. You won't leave this room with a single win."

On stage, the auctioneer stepped up to the crystal podium, clearing his throat as he tapped his wooden gavel.

"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the final and most anticipated lot of the evening," the auctioneer announced, pointing to the massive screen behind him. "Lot #12: The 50-Year Commercial Operating Rights for the North Harbor Logistics District! Bidding starts at fifty million dollars!"

"Eighty million!" Hector immediately raised his paddle, looking over at Caleb with a sneering grin.

The crowd gasped at the massive opening jump.

"Eighty million from Mr. Hector Cole!" the auctioneer called out excitedly. "Do I hear ninety?"

Caleb didn't even pick up his physical paddle. He simply raised his index finger toward the stage.

"One hundred million," Caleb said quietly.

The entire ballroom fell dead silent.

Hector’s smile froze. His hand tightened on his paddle as anger flushed his neck red. "One hundred and twenty million!"

Caleb raised his hand again, his voice entirely unbothered, as if he were bidding on a cup of coffee.

"Two hundred million."

A collective murmur erupted across the entire hall. People stood up from their seats to get a better look at the calm young man in the charcoal suit.

Hector jumped out of his chair, his face contorting with rage. "Two hundred million?! Are you insane?! You don't have that kind of cash, you arrogant bastard!"

[Ding!] [Extreme Fury & Desperation Detected from Target: Hector Cole.] [Received: +4,000 System Points!]

Caleb slowly turned his head to look at Hector, a sharp, dangerous smile playing on his lips.

"If you can't afford to bid, Hector," Caleb said softly, "sit down and shut your mouth."

The deep-space ambient silence inside Aether-Zero’s upper command suite was heavy, thick, and almost physical. Three hundred miles below, the blue marble of Earth rotated serenely within the shimmering, geometric lattice of Project Aether-Shield. But no one in the command room was looking at Earth anymore.Every eye was locked on the central three-dimensional holographic tactical table.Floating in the center of the room, four billion miles away on the frozen outer fringes of the Kuiper Belt, was the newly awakened structure. It was a massive, fifty-kilometer-wide metallic ring, its surface covered in ancient, geometric runic grooves that glowed with a blinding, liquid-gold tachyon energy."Caleb..." Arthur whispered, his voice trembling so violently he had to grip the edge of the holographic console to keep his footing.
