his wife

“ I want a divorce”

“ I can no longer be married to a poor man like you”

“ I have found the right man for me, the one that can fund the classy and standard life I have longed for,” Vivian said all these words as she was expecting a reply. 

 “We just lost our daughter due to the inability to raise money for her surgery,” Alex said. 

“ You made our daughter die due to your inability to cater to us as a man that you should be. Alex, you are worse than an animal. I can't be seen with a man like you or said to be married to you” Vivian said angrily. 

Alex was short of words, he did not know his wife could be this heartless.  He didn't believe the woman he married would say such hurting words to him. He felt covered with a cloud of sadness and humiliation. I lost my job, lost my child, and now I am getting a divorce from my wife his thoughts widened and he was lost. 

“ hello. Hello. Are you there?” Vivian shout over the phone. 

He could barely outer a world. A woman he has loved all his life causing him this pain and frustration. 

“ I will come home tomorrow with the divorce paper and be prepared to sign in” These were Vivian's last words as she ended the call. 

His heart was filled with so much pain as he walked. He could not believe someone he loved could treat him this way. He loved Vivian with his whole heart, and he thought she loved him as well. 

Alex went straight home. He entered and was in so much distress and pain. He felt he could actually have the power to pay back everyone in great measure the pain they have cost him. His only thought was revenge but he did not have any idea how to go about it because he was poor and did not have an influence. 

The next morning came and he had a knock on the door. It was his wife Vivian, her mother and his friend Flex. Felix used to be his friend in his formal place of work where he worked as a civil engineer. 

Flex had always been jealous of his friend Alex and wanted everything he had. Even in their place of work where Alex worked as a civil engineer, he had been jealous of him. He set him up, and framed everything. Alex was falsely accused of stealing some particular amount of money and was sacked.  All these were Flex handwork unknown to Alex.

 After Alex was sacked. He started having a secret affair with Vivian,  Alex's wife. Flex had always wanted everything Alex had and he was happy he was getting everything right before his eyes including his wife. He was wicked and a betrayal. 

He has not seen or heard from Flex in a long time . This is definitely due to the fact that he could not live up to his class and was poor. He was so surprised to see Flex and his wife hold hands like two young teenagers in love. 

Flex was putting on a nice designer Shirt and a pair of Nike shoes. Vivian was also looking so beautiful and expensive in her designer outfit. She was always looking beautiful and good. 

“ Good morning ma” Alex greeted his mother-in-law.

“ what is good here? You are a poor brat. Due to your irresponsibility, I lost my grandchild” Matilda said as if she cared. 

“ Oh my little baby, Jennifer, so sad you have an irresponsible father, “ she added. 

“ Please have a seat Ma, “ Alex said as he ordered them to have their seat on the couch. 

They went in and had their seat, looking around at the small house where Alex stay 

“This place is a mess, just too small to be called a house. How do you leave him?” Matilda chuckled. 

“We are not here to waste time, we are here with the divorce paper. I never wanted my daughter to marry someone like you at first but it happened, and now this marriage has to end. You are basically not fit to be a son inlaw in my family. ” Matilda said as she crossed her legs. 

“ here is my new son-in-law, Flex. I am sure you know him already” Matilda said pointing to Flex. 

“ Flex, you, I thought we were friends,” Alex said with great surprise. 

“ We used to be friends, we are no longer friends. I can not be seen with a man like you let alone to be called your friend.” Flex answered with no sense of guilt.

“ Sign that divorce paper, I don’t have time to waste,” Flex said. 

Alex stared at Flex, “ I don’t see why you should be interfering in my family matter” Alex spoke. 

“Family what ?  Family matters my foot! Whoever considers you as a family? I have never for once done that it is in all in your thinking” Matilda expressed. 

She Continued “This is my only true son in law in case you don’t know. He is the only one who is up to standard to become my son-in-law and not someone like you”. 

She was firm in statement. Alex stared at both of them as if he was seeing a ghost.

“ Really?” Alex asked in surprise. 

“ You heard me right….. He has been taking good care of her for a while now. Doing what you couldn’t go. He is the person that will be marrying my daughter after you divorce her. So enough of the inquiry. 

Turning to Vivian 

“ Was  he your date the other night?”

“ You left your daughter to die and went out with another man? Not just many but someone I regard as a friend?”

“ So you have been having an affair with Flex”

“ You are divorcing me to marry my friend “ 

“ How can you be this heartless and inconsiderate” 

“I thought you loved me”  Alex asked his wife.

Vivian didn’t say a word . She stood up from where she was seated and walked to Alex. 

“ Here is the divorce paper, sign it” 

“ i am tired of this marriage”

“ I want to be genuinely happy” 

“ I want a rich man I can confidently introduce to my friends” 

“ I want a man that can buy me designers cloth and bags” 

“ A man that has a good place where he lives and not you that lives in the kiosks you call a house”

“I want a man that can take me on vacation, take me around the world, and fund my lifestyle,” Vivian said.

Alex was left with no other choice but to sign the divorce letter in front of him. 

“ Why don't you come back to get your things,” Matilda told her daughter. 

“ No Mum, I will get them now, I don't see myself coming back to this kiosk for any reason” Vivian replied to her mom happily. 

Matilda happily went inside to pick up some of her things to leave with her new lover Flex. They exchanged kisses and were about to leave.

“ You don't deserve this beautiful woman, you can't make her happy, you can't take care of her. Now I have her and will take good care of her” Flex said to Alex as we were about to leave. 

“ you will regret this, I will make sure you all pay for this. I don't know how but I will get revenge” Alex said without having any ideas or how to go about it.

Alex has never felt this way in his life. From losing his job to losing his daughter, now getting a divorce and his ex-wife going out with his friend. With a series of humiliations and insults, he faced his own in-laws and his boss. 

Just as he thought everything was over. His world was crumbling right in front of him. His phone rang
