A man was standing in front of the incubator device as Jordan opened his eyes, and after confirming he was still alive, the man spoke. “Well done boy, you did a good job. Proceed to the attribute section where you will be tested and the choice to join the hunter academy will be given to you.”

After the man said this, he stepped forward and helped Elion out from the incubation dream piercer.

Elion walked to the section he was directed to go, and along the path, he was the only one walking. Different dream piercer machines stood side by side, at his end, already open, and this startled him, meaning he is the last to wake up of the dream piercer machines.

He could have died, but somehow he survived. There is a specific time fixed on the device, that if one couldn’t wake up within that frame, he or she will be proclaimed dead, but somehow Elion did the impossible; he woke up after about twenty minutes of the time which ideally was fixed for all dreamers to wake up.

The soldier who had opened the incubator for him to come out wasn’t even expecting any human to be inside; it was when the device began to beep before he could notice that there was somebody there, and that was when he rushed and opened the incubator for Elion to step out.

The soldier looks a little bit old; he was holding an apple in his hands. He stares at Elion as he made his way to the section, and this left the old man startled, questions plunging into his mind on how the kid had survived after twenty minutes of time duration passed, and he wished he could get an answer, but all that was beside him was silence and the massive room filled with dream piercer devices.

“Never have I seen anything like this throughout my twenty years of working in this chamber…” the man mumbled with disbelief, his face still pale, but he casually bit the apple he was holding from his hands before shrugging his shoulders then adding, “Anyways, I don’t care what had intervened, all I have to do is make sure that I do my job perfectly well and get paid.”

Reaching a specific section of the massive hall, Elion saw people like him who had emerged from the dream piercer alive, lined up in rows; thus, everyone who had undergone the dream piercer awakening process survived, and there are no casualties recorded this time.

The line they were on was straight, and at the front was a machine, tall enough for a single person to go in. The machine was built mechanically with a transparent screen where, if one goes in, he or she could be seen. Inside the machine was a specific part where one could place his or her hands, and if the person awakened, the machine will immediately detect it and as well identify what kind of attribute the person had awakened.

The first kid went in, and the woman before him nodded; she urged him to place his hands within the frame of the transparent screen, and the moment the boy did, a holographic image appears within a displayed screen beside the woman, showing if the boy has been awakened or not and also adding which attribute he had awakened.

“Loading details for current awakener,” a mechanical voice sounded immediately. The text stretched around the screen beside the woman who was in charge.

[Awakened. Attribute type: water element.]

After this text came through and the mechanical voice sounded with a confirmation, the woman who is in charge looked down at the boy, then nodded with a smile. “Congratulations boy, you have a powerful attribute. Over there is the part where you will choose if you want to enroll in the vanguard hunters academy or not.”

The boy was happy at hearing that; he nodded with a smile then stepped out of the transparent glass machine he had gone in, then gladly made his way to another section where the woman had directed him to go for the registration.

Awakening is complex; one can awaken anything. Some could awaken elements, some could awaken unimaginable strength, some could even awaken magic and would be known as mages.

Apart from awakening, it is still necessary to be able to harness what one had awakened. Some will have attributes but they won’t be able to conjure it into action, and some could awaken and their attribute will be weak. But the primary main purpose of the awakening was to cure out the spell sickness, which was immediately done once one comes out of the dream piercer alive.

The next person went into the dream attribute detector machine and did exactly what he was told by the woman, and his attribute was luckily lightning, which is one of the rarest.

After he was told his attribute, he ran out of the machine like a madman, not even hearing what the woman had said next, which is apparently to go to the second section where he will agree to be a hunter or not; it was obvious that the boy definitely wanted to be a hunter.

The woman chuckled with a grin. “Kids these days are so desperate to rush toward their death, unlike us at our time, where we see something like joining the vanguard hunters as a horror one could never wake up from.”

Thus these words sounded in mumbled form from her mouth, and what she had said was the truth; in their era, they were forced to all join the vanguard armies, not giving them the choice.

Soon after, it was Elion’s turn. He stood in front of the woman, and she glanced at him from head to toe. He is the only older boy among all the people that had come forward and this startled her, and firmly she asked, “How old are you, please?”

Elion doesn’t want to reply because he knew what would come next, but on the other hand, he knows disobeying a high-ranking hunter like her wouldn’t be of any good to him.

Elion forced a smile from his lips before replying. “I’m sixteen.”

“Huh!” The woman’s eyes widened immediately; she had thought that the boy must have grown so tall and big out of healthy nutrition, but to her realization, he was older than the other kids that had come forward.

In order not to waste her time, she allowed Elion to go into the glass device because he was apparently the only one remaining for the attribute test.

When Elion placed his palms on the screen, the machine took time to give out a response, and when it did, the message appeared to be printed an error.

  • The Weight of Memory

Elion at this point doesn't know what he would do next. He had tried all he can, but the weapon he was meant to create wasn't working. He lifted his head and saw the creature already leaking in."Since this shit isn't working, and that shadow of mine isn't even responding, I guess I have to do it my own way..." Elion muttered. He then gazed at his wrist again and saw that the armor that was meant to protect his body kept falling off his skin.He then spotted a sharp wood close to him, and in the next instant, a thought ran into his mind: if he could use that wood and try to pierce through the creature's back, where the back round hole was, maybe perhaps he could kill it.Elion didn't waste any time after realizing this. He dashed toward where the wood was, then yanked it off from the ground. At this point, the creature's hands sprouted out countless spikes and began to shoot toward Elion. Elion tried his possible best to dodge. Some spikes hit him, but that didn't pierce into his skin

  • Your Amour

Elion was still trying to understand one thing: why didn't Jax sense what was currently happening and come to his aid, or could the creature also do something that would distract them? This thought didn't last long for Elion to think through when his eyes caught sight of the creature he had nearly run away from, transforming into another form. At first, the form he had transformed into was having extra hands, with a massive head looking more like a spider and at the same time looking like a human. But at the next moment, the form he was transforming to had long mandibles, his legs grew very tall, and his hands transformed into a single hand but very long. His skin was pale and white. This exact form of his is his real form, and in this form, it's said to have its powers at the peak, which meant if Elion didn't stand his ground, he could be defeated by the creature."Let's see how you try to stop me..." The creature dashed forward, his claws long, slicing through the air with intense s

  • I Will Be Your Eye

Elion sat, still trying to figure out how he would be able to fight the creature. He had one thing in mind: if he could just try and muster the strength hidden inside him, maybe perhaps he could have a chance of standing against whatever this thing was."I can help you stand against the creature. I will be your eyes, which means you will follow my instructions," Elion's shadow suggested.Elion didn't even have time to process what his shadow had said when he suddenly saw a sharp spike piece into his hand."Ahhh..." Elion shouted in pain as he fell to his knees."Shit..." His shadow's eyes widened after realizing what had hit his master. It was from the creature, and such spikes are meant to paralyze its target, which means Elion will lose control of his hands soon."That spike holds a dangerous toxin, we have to look for a way to get it out..." Elion's shadow panicked.Elion's shadow had seen the attack coming, but it was too late to push Elion from the way just like he always did. El

Elion was confused, it happened so fast and he still couldn't tell what exactly was happening. Elion's head darted around, and in that moment, uneasiness coursed into his soul. Just as he looked back at the girl he saw, she was just sitting quiet, her hands wrapped around her body and her legs coiled along with it.The sky grew even darker with every second passing by. Elion maintained his distance with the kid. She wasn't even answering him; he tried to speak to her but all he got was silence."What exactly are you..." She kept mumbling a word Elion couldn't understand, but just then she suddenly became silent.Elion reached out his hands to her shoulders, with the attempt to gently turn her to his direction, but in the next second her head switched toward his direction and her face was no more human.Shit!Elion fell to the ground, and scrabbled backwards, "What exactly are you?!"The gir

  • Shadow Of Whisper

After Jax got hold of himself, he explained everything to Elsie and Elion, but the explanation wasn't making sense. He mentioned he had seen her while he was taking a walk, but he can't really tell where she had come from. And not only had she mentioned that she doesn't have a parent, neither a house to stay, but if so, how had she been surviving all this while? The thought was in sync between Elsie and Elion, trying to understand what Jax was saying."So you mean you had met the girl from nowhere when you were taking a walk...?" Elsie asked to confirm again."Yes I did, Queen Elsie..." Jax sighed. "I wish I could have a strong explanation to this but sadly, I don't..."While they were on this conversation, Elion's eyes were set on the little girl as she kept feasting on the food she was eating.Elion doesn't know why, but he felt an uneasiness around the child, as though there is something dark inside her, but he can't just prove it, and he doesn't want to conclude this phenomenon of

  • Crimson Glowing Eyes

Jax pointed his sword in the direction of the creature, "What the hell are you..." His voice was very loud and echoing, but it seemed as if only he could hear himself."The sword bearer, the last descendant of the sword forger, you have a magnificent power you are yet to understand..." The voice sounded again; it was mixed with a female and male voice.Jax was terrified, but he is strong enough to not let something like this get into his head. He took in a deep breath and took another step forward, holding tight on the sheath of his sword. One thing that kept rumbling inside his mind was that exact thing the creature had just mentioned; he was trying to imagine what it actually was."What are you..." Jax was still pointing his sword directly at the creature before asking. The creature didn't say anything, the only thing that kept leaping out from its body was dark smoke and those glowing eyes of his."You know what is better, so you better do the right thing..."
