Chapter 1. System Activation

BUGH!

A hard kick slammed into Victor's arm as he tried to cover his face. He groaned softly from the pain. His entire body crumbled after the umpteenth kick from Jackson, his younger brother.

"YOU BASTARD! I've hated you for a long time, you shouldn't be the heir to the Lawen Innovate Group!"

Victor couldn't say anything. He didn't expect his parents and younger siblings to be this violent towards him.

A few hours ago was the Lawen Innovate Group's fifteenth anniversary. Victor is the owner of the company, which was inherited seven years ago by Randelf Omario Lawen-a famous and wealthy trillionaire.

Ever since Randelf died six years ago, Victor has felt resentment from his own family members. Victor knows full well that his parents would have preferred if Randelf had left Lawen Innovate Group to his younger brother.

"Why did you come back from Italy and seize an inheritance that should have been mine?" Jackson snapped back.

Victor slowly moved his hands away from his face. Blood oozed from the bruises on his face, but Victor didn't wipe it away.

"Jackson..." Victor's voice was weak.

Victor looked at Jackson. His eyes were blurry from the dizziness in his head.

"Why... are you... doing this?" asked Victor, coughing up blood.

Jackson grinned hatefully. Seeing Victor's weakened state brought him great satisfaction.

"Because I hate you. Lawen Innovate Group should have been mine, but grandfather gave it to you instead!" Jackson snapped.  

Without answering, Victor's eyes looked at the people around him. No one was helping him now. Even Amber and Richard just looked at him without compassion.

Victor had a personal secretary. But his personal secretary was already lying weak after being attacked by his family's bodyguards.

"Ah... we gave Jackson the best education, but Randelf gave the whole company to you," Amber retorted.

"What makes Randelf choose a useless, insubordinate child like you to be the heir?!" Richard said.

Amber immediately stepped closer to Victor who pleaded through his eyes.  

"You ruined everything, Victor! You're the son we didn't need!" Amber snapped while delivering a high heels kick.

The kick hit Victor square in the jaw, causing him to cough again.

Victor felt his throat ache terribly now. His whole body was broken.

When he moved his arms, his bones seemed to have cracked. For two hours he was subjected to wooden blows from his family's bodyguards.

Thirteen bodyguards against two, Victor and Fredic-his personal secretary.

"Mama... please stop..." Victor said softly.

Victor already knew they wouldn't listen to him. Their hatred was far greater. But Victor really couldn't take the pain anymore.

Inside Victor's chest, there was a slowly building anger. Victor just wanted his family to stop hating him.

"We wanted to destroy you for a long time, Victor. But we couldn't find an opening," Richard said.

Silently, through the pain, Victor clenched one hand into a fist. His eyes were closed feeling the hatred and anger towards his family members.

"Now, we need to get rid of you so that Jackson can lead the Lawen Innovate Group!" Richard continued.

"Victor, don't you realize, you're still a stupid and useless kid? You never even accomplished anything in school!" Amber said.

Victor remembered. He was indeed one of the stupid students at school. He had never gotten first place, achieved any academic or non-academic achievements like Jackson, not even going into business.

Ever since Randelf gave the flagship company Lawen Innovate Group to him as an inheritance, Victor had been trying to get into business.

The flagship company thrived after being managed by Victor. Everyone from the conglomerate admired him. He gained many business contacts and lobbied for businessmen from overseas.

Unfortunately, Victor could not get the love of his parents and younger siblings.

"If... you want to... kill me..." Victor paused his words for a moment. "Kill me... now."

Better to die and give Lawen Innovate Group's main company to Jackson.

Victor thought that might be the best thing.

"Kill you?" asked Jackson as he walked over. "I was going to do that tonight, asshole."

Victor tried to surrender himself.

After Jackson said that, Victor vaguely saw two bodyguards coming. The two men were carrying a large, long, thick piece of wood.

As the two men raised the logs in each hand, Victor arched a smile. The next second Victor's entire body immediately felt tremendous pain from the blows of the two logs.  

Then, three other bodyguards approached with the same sticks.

The five burly men repeatedly swung the wood at Victor's body. Hitting Victor without pity was like hitting a pile of garbage.

Victor had given up.

As his body felt numb with pain, Jackson approached and kicked Victor hard in the face.

"Enjoy your death, asshole," Jackson said as a parting shot.  

The last thing Victor witnessed before everything went dark was his body being lifted by several men.

Then, Victor's body was thrown from a ten-meter cliff into the river.

In the midst of his body being tossed to the bottom of the river, an unfamiliar voice echoed in Victor's brain. As his body was on the brink of death, Victor knew a miracle was coming his way.

SYSTEM: ULTIMATE MONEY REVENGE SYSTEM ACTIVATION IN PROGRESS

SYSTEM: CONGRATULATIONS, USER! YOU HAVE FOUGHT FOR TWENTY-SEVEN YEARS OF YOUR LIFE. NOW YOU ARE ON THE VERGE OF DEATH

Victor breathed laboriously after his eyes opened suddenly. His body sat up in shock. For a few seconds he was just stunned while regaining his composure.

'What did I just see? Did I have a bad dream?' Victor asked himself.

Victor's eyes looked around. He was now in a small room, full of alcohol bottles scattered around, and only one long vent.

This was not his room.

Victor turns to look at himself which is... shocking! How could he only be wearing a dull t-shirt and torn shorts?!

Even the bed is only big enough for one person, it's not covered in expensive silk sheets, and there's only one dull pillow. Wait, where exactly was he now?

While Victor was still feeling confused, he noticed a full-body mirror. Victor, who was both curious and panicked, immediately approached the mirror.

"Oh my God..." Victor muttered after seeing himself in the mirror.

The man in the reflection of the mirror was a fairly fat man with unkempt hair. Who is Victor looking at now?!

[DING!]

SYSTEM: HELLO, USER! WELCOME TO YOUR NEW LIFE!

Victor was startled after hearing the echo of the voice just now. He looked around the room, even checking outside the door. There was no one coming.

"Who are you?" asked Victor in a worried tone.

SYSTEM: I am the Wealth Money Changer. The system that has given you the opportunity to live a new life.

SYSTEM: You will now live as Benyard Owlen, an office boy for Lawen Innovate Group.

Victor was confused. The name of the company...

"Isn't that my company? Wait, what do you mean you'll be living as my company's office boy?" Victor asked again.

SYSTEM: I understand you're very confused right now. However, I'm going to identify Benyard Owlen's personal data as well as start explaining it to you.

Before Victor could ask, a blue holographic screen suddenly appeared in front of his face. Just like a projector screen.

Victor was so startled that he took a few steps back. He blinked repeatedly, but the holographic screen did not disappear from in front of his face.
