2: Betrayal

It was the 14th of February; the long-awaited day was finally here. The campus big boys in their different exotic cars have been grooving in and out of the campus with their babes. Various incidents are happening. Some guys propose to their girlfriends, while others break up after something goes wrong. Including those bossy rich guys that Rex runs errands for.

He was not left out of the celebration either. He already bought some gifts for his beloved girlfriend to surprise her. He hurried inside his room to get outfitted with some cheap but nice-looking clothes he had bought a few days ago because of Valentine's Day.

He quickly put on the tight-fitting T-shirt he had longed to wear since he bought it but was patiently waiting for the day to arrive. The shirt fit him perfectly; it brought out those perfect muscular shapes of his body, he went and watched himself in the wall mirror to see how he was looking, and he realized he still had a perfect body.

"I can't wait to surprise Cassandra!" He chuckled; unbeknownst to him, something terrible was waiting for him to come and witness.

"What a perfect surprise!" he chuckled as he dashed out for his surprise journey.

He boarded a cab for the first time during his stay at the university. Cassandra's lodge isn't even far from his; it takes about five minutes to reach it or eight minutes. But he did that to prevent his new clothes from being stained by some dust evolving from the roads, so he decided to remain classic.

"Cassandra," he uttered silently, smiling; he imagined a perfect scene of two lovely couples smiling, and the female was so overjoyed that she kept praising her boyfriend for the gift he had bought her. Rex perfected the scene as to what would happen when he gave Cassandra the gifts.

Had it been that he had a superpower, he would disappear into thin air and appear at Cassandra's lodge, based on how he was relentlessly thinking about Cassandra in the cab.

He dropped at the spot he demanded to be dropped; dropping in front of Cassandra's lodge would attract the eyes of many of her dorm mates, which may likely attract Cassandra too, spoiling the surprise visit.

He walks majestically, heading to Cassandra's apartment, and he notices all eyes are on him. Something that even made him stop before his destination, yet he has experienced it - he has encountered the basking of those pretentious students in Cassandra's dormitory. He heard those girls staring at him and gossiping.

"Is this not Rex, who always treks to school? Did he just board a cab to Vingood Lodge?" "Wonders won't cease to happen," one of Cassandra's dorm mates mocks Rex.

"What is he even searching for inside this lodge?" the second girl wondered.

"Maybe he took the wrong direction to his destination," the third girl added.

"Or probably, he is lost," the last girl intruded, and they burst out laughing.

"Girl, you cracked my ribs," the first girl that started the shade added.

He passed them; the tenses he heard from them diminished his joyous thoughts of how Cassandra would react on seeing those gifts. He intended to go back, but he remembered that he had spent money on transportation while coming and also what he spent in buying those precious gifts for his Cassandra.

"Going back would be a waste of the precious time and money I spent on coming here," He picked up gutsiness and went on.

As he took a few steps to reach Cassandra's door, he heard moans of pleasure inside the room. He tried to ignore it and grab the doorknob, but then he admitted he was not hearing negatively.

"No, this can't be Cassandra moaning." He murmured and later concluded the moans were coming from the nearby apartment, he summoned courage, opened the door, and was about to exclaim "Surprise!"

However, the scene he saw in the room made him unable to complete the remaining phrase, he swallowed the remaining "surprise!" he wanted to exclaim and ended up exclaiming "Cassandra!" out of astonishment.

He managed to remain strong after seeing his girlfriend, Cassandra, being smashed by the campus big boy, and the awful smells of sex and sweat from the room made him shed tears, unaware.

Kanye West covered his naked body out of shame; his facial expression harmonized with embarrassment. They wouldn't have noticed his presence as they were riding the wave of pressure.

"Babe, who is this pauper, judging from his dress and how he looks?" Kanye asked.

"Did you know him?" "What have you had to do with such a person? I don't recall having business with this type of person," he queries Cassandra, who was underneath him, without any remorseful expression.

He turned to face Rex, wanting to know where he got the impetus to interfere with his privacy. He raised his brow in awe, and immediately after he discovered who Rex was, he got weak over the actions he wanted to take.

"Oh, the errand guy, who always runs errands for us. I guess he brought something you sent him to buy for you, but why didn't you knock? You just darted in here without even an atom of penitence." he added.

"Babe, tender him mercy; perhaps he did that out of frustration with the things life was throwing at him." She paused and glared at Kanye West's expression to know if she was playing her lies well or if she should spice it up more.

"Two weeks ago, I heard his parents died after suffering from chronic illness because he wasn't able to raise funds for them to get proper treatment," Cassandra uttered, sighing.

"Young man, why did you lack manners? After scrambling in here, you didn't even feel contrite," Kanye said expecting Rex to apologize immediately, however, he got the opposite

"Is anything wrong with you?" He yelled out of annoyance. He was trying to tolerate his bad attitude and this idiot didn't even feel sorry.

He stared at Rex expecting a word from him, however, Rex who stood still like someone who had been electrocuted while standing, didn't utter a word. He was still profoundly shocked by what he had caught a glimpse of.

"Are you now dumb and deaf? Or do you want to rot in jail?'' Kanye West rolled.

"Cassandra, so this is what you chose to do, after how many years of..." Rex managed to say.

"Jeez! What's happening here? Who do you say you are?" Kanye West said as he stood up to beat out the damn frustration tormenting Rex. Rex's last remark sounded like a sword that just gored his chest.

"You haven't seen anything yet," Cassandra silently told Rex through the movement of her lips whilst still lying on the bed.
