Chapter 62

Jason fell back a step, steadying himself with the hand on the counter. From the corner of his eye, he saw the strange look that Morris had passed him.

"Shit, Logan. Are you sure?" Jason rubbed a hand over his mouth and left it there in shock.

"He was just in the office... I think you should come down here."

His cell phone pinged again. Jason took it down from his ear and read the message that had just come in.

Logan had just texted him the directions to Life Haven Hospital. He'd heard that name before, but Jason couldn't bother himself now with where he had come across it.

"Morris." Jason pocketed his phone and gave his friend a bro shake across the counter. "Think about what I've said. Something urgent came up, and I've got to run."

"Is everything okay?" He paused with mixing the cocktail, staring at him.

Jason knew what he meant. He wouldn't have come down here if he didn't have something on his mind bothering him.

"Yeah, I just earned a big paycheck. Nothing crazy, but I w
